The Great Filter Theory Suggests That All Advanced Civilizations Eventually Destroy Themselves Before

The Great Filter theory suggests that all advanced civilizations eventually destroy themselves before acquiring the capacity to colonize space — a notion that could explain why we've never been visited by aliens. But there may be another reason for the celestial silence. Yes, the Great Filter exists, but we've already passed it. Here's what this would mean.

Here is where we need a better sense of justice, and shame. For the outrageousness in this story is not just Aaron. It is also the absurdity of the prosecutor’s behavior. From the beginning, the government worked as hard as it could to characterize what Aaron did in the most extreme and absurd way. The “property” Aaron had “stolen,” we were told, was worth “millions of dollars” — with the hint, and then the suggestion, that his aim must have been to profit from his crime. But anyone who says that there is money to be made in a stash ofACADEMIC ARTICLES is either an idiot or a liar. It was clear what this was not, yet our government continued to push as if it had caught the 9/11 terrorists red-handed.

The Wheel of Time

Just heard about the first batch of casting for the Wheel of Time adaption.  Very exciting news.  The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan is one of my favorite series and one of the reasons why I don’t like to start new series until they are completely done!

The Wheel Of Time

I read the first four books in the early 90′s when I was in high school and was hooked.  I had to wait almost 20 years for the series to be completed.  Agony!

The 14 books are massive volumes and total just about 12,000 pages.  If you listen to the audio version it will take you 19 days and 5 1/2 hours.

I’m hopeful it will turn out much better than that uber weird 30 minute pilot that aired in the middle of the night!

Another reason why I like to know an entire series is done before I start?  Well, in addition to having to wait 20 years to finish the series, the author passed away before he finished the last book.  Needless to say, I have not read the GOT series or watched the show and will definitely be waiting until the books are finished!

Since The Time I Was In Elementary School I Wanted To Become A Marine Biologist To Study And Swim With

Since the time I was in elementary school I wanted to become a marine biologist to study and swim with sharks.  Next summer I’m planning a trip to Australia and for my 40th birthday, *this* is what I plan on doing....  Check out the video here.  #dreamvacation

Great Whites circling the “ghost cage” video.  This was pretty amazing and would totally love to do this, but with a door that stayed closed!

“I Really Believe That If The Political Leaders Of The World Could See Their Planet From A Distance

“I really believe that if the political leaders of the world could see their planet from a distance of 100,000 miles their outlook could be fundamentally changed. That all-important border would be invisible, that noisy argument silenced. The tiny globe would continue to turn, serenely ignoring its subdivisions, presenting a unified façade that would cry out for unified understanding, for homogeneous treatment. The earth must become as it appears: blue and white, not capitalist or Communist; blue and white, not rich or poor; blue and white, not envious or envied.” — Michael Collins, Gemini 10 & Apollo 11 astronaut More astronaut quotes on seeing planet Earth from space: http://www.spacequotations.com/earth.html
