As a kid that came from a 'She loves me, she loves me so much it hurts. I just wish she was a better Mother so loving her back didn't feel so hard' relationship with my own mom I latched on to Kurt and Rouge so, so hard as a kid. I felt their pain, their conflict, but every time I saw Raven... I couldn't help but love her, couldn't help seeing my mom in her. It doesn't help that Mystique is actually her favorite right behind Storm. It's my own inside 'joke', my mom will always love me just like Raven will always love Kurt and Anna but she was never the mother they needed her to be, especially when they needed her the most. Maybe I won't always feel like her little Nightcrawler, but for now, I don't mind it so much, I have my own Rouge after all (even comes with their own Gambit) and he's the best big brother in the world.

I think the ideas that

“Raven is a bad parent”

And

“Raven loves their children”

Can and should co exist. I will never sit here and say Mystique is a good parent, but I think acting like they don’t love their children is just being willfully ignorant of their characterization since the 80s.

I see a lot of people try to claim Raven doesn’t care about their kids. I actually think they care a LOT, it just, doesn’t deter their actions. And they’re not a good parent, don’t get me wrong, but that doesn’t mean they don’t love Kurt and Rogue and I think trying to claim they don’t actually does away with a lot of Raven’s character nuance.

A lot of the tragedy and depth of their relationships come from the fact that Raven DOES love their children, but it’s not enough. And Kurt and Anna Marie know that, and that’s part of the tragedy of it too.

I’m not a Mystique defender, but I am a Raven Darkhölme characterization realist. A lot of people flatten their character to add more sympathy to Kurt’s story especially, which feels kinda iffy to me. But that’s for another post.

From a storytelling perspective, it adds so much more depth and tragedy to all characters involved to not make the relationship so shallow and one sided as “Oh Mystique doesn’t love them”, and even to juxtapose Raven’s relationship to them with Irene’s is a whole other thing I may talk about one day. But like, you do the story injustice to flatten it down to just “Oh Mystique sucks”

Tl;dr - Raven Darkhölme is a shitty parent but they do love their kids. And that’s the whole tragedy of the thing

I love everything about this but I absolutely adore the detail of the faded tattoo ink and how the scars shift to match the skin loosing elasticity 💙💙💙 it's truly beautiful. I love when artists draw younger characters getting to their older years and still show love for them in their designs. Again beautiful.

Zosan through the ages

some notes:

Sanji’s chest scar is from when Zoro stabbed him through the heart making good on a certain promise (dont worry he got better)

everyone got the Mugiwara Jolly Roger as a tattoo after Luffy became king of the pirates. Not everyone got them on the shoulder but Zoro and Sanji like to mirror each other.

Sanji grew out his beard and started braiding it as a tribute to Zeff after the old fart finally passed away. Zoro is of the opinion that he could’ve found literally any other way to pay tribute.

Zoro’s arm got chopped off when he finally lost his title as world’s greatest swordsperson to a determined young upstart (she and Zoro have since become good friends). Now he just has to use two sword style at most, like a normal person.

By the time he’s 70 Sanji’s voice sounds like straight gravel from all the smoking, to the point where he’s actually a bit hard to understand when he’s talking fast.

Once he no longer had to defend his title Zoro fully indulged in retirement and being *very* well fed, though Sanji is keeping an eye on his salt intake, and the alcohol cabinet is nigh Zoro proof.

@the-heaminator I both love and hate to inform you that Azul, is in fact, a 17 year old boy. He is from a Disney gacha game called 'Twisted Wonderland' and he's one of the best designed characters in the game, my opinion only ofc, and the artist drew him really cool and slightly scary which is perfect for Azul 's evil sea witch vibes here (he's meant to imulate Ursula). Hey @kingstrawberry you're absolutely fucking right! Yama is Tsuki's soulmate platonic or otherwise, he will literally die without that dude. Tsuki can't do shit when it comes to normal human interaction without being an ass or awkward. He literally needs Yama around and fate knew that when they wrote this neverending love story. The romance is the side character roles meanwhile the whole story focuses on Yama trying to get them through the paces without tragedy befalling all of them.

Two lovers have reincarnated throughout history, destined to find each other and fall in love all over again. There’s also this third guy that reincarnates alongside them… we don’t really know what he does.

the sanji and robin dynamic to me is just, a woman in her late 20s and a teenager that work at baskin robins together and became work besties

It's so strange and funny how the ao3 curse has affected my thought process. I was sitting here genuinely panicking because an ao3 author I've been reading from stopped posting three days ago and they're a daily poster. So my brain immediately jumped to "Oh gods I hope wherever hit them isn't too terrible! I hope it's just a cold and not a burned down house or dead relative!" Gods only on AO3 would you assume the worst immediately because someone missed their weeklies/dailies.

It's so strange and funny how the ao3 curse has affected my thought process. I was sitting here genuinely panicking because an ao3 author I've been reading from stopped posting three days ago and they're a daily poster. Yeah it made me feel super weird seeing people switch up. I however fell even deeper in the zosan ship because Opla Sanji is taller and I have a love for taller bottoms... I'm a firm enjoyer of "taller bottom/smaller top" this applies to all genders by the way. I especially like it in sanami and lusan (though I do think Luffy hits a growth spurt in his late 20's that devastates the crew). In my mind, Zoro is a top that just doesn't mind experimenting with his partners and no matter how he looks he will stay firmly right there.

Honestly this is peak for me because I have a... Thing for taller characters and all my faves go into the bottoms/sub category so you can kinda guess what I think Sanji is (I mean look at that waist) and yes that extends to female characters. If she's tall and has a short girlfriend you already know which one I think is topping.

anyways, time for me to explain for hours about the thought that went in these designs!!!

Lupin III - Cactus Cookie

firstly, yes, cacti can be eaten. for lupin's case i think you'll deadass die if you eat him

the reason i chose cactus for his flavor is because of his incredible persistent to survive in the most dangerous and impossible conditions, much like how cacti dont need a lot to survive in the desert.

i think this may be a reach but i recall a lot of times where lupin is in the desert but idk that bitch can be anywhere bro also hes a prick

I used the green color of the cactus, but cactus cookie can change the color of his cactus coat and the flower tie.

also cacti can sprout flowers! that's very gay of them to do, very lupincore

if you're curious about his eyes, i based it off of strawberry cream cookie's eyes, i think it fits a lot with lupin's googly eyes

Jigen Daisuke - Shiitake Cookie

i think his flavor was the hardest to decipher, but i decided to use shiitake, mainly because another certain mushroom themed cookie uses it as a huge hat...

also, shiitake mushrooms have a rather strong, meaty and earthly taste, which i think fits jigen's strong and gruff personality.

I also added some pepper on the mushroom, which is just, intensifying the strength peppercorn can also be used for bullets !

in addition, shiitake mushrooms are one of the ingredients of sukiyaki, which i think is a rather iconic food for jigen !

Goemon Ishikawa XIII - Soba Cookie

SOBAAAAAA soba is earthly noodle and it looks like the color of goemon's hair, that's literally it sorry i dont have anything else HAHAHAH

nvm i think i have more design notes for goemon some of his design elements are inspired off of rebel cookie, which is based off of a korean classical character hong gildong jeon, who has a very similar story to ishikawa goemon !

also goemon's swords are chopsticks, tehe

Fujiko Mine - Cinnamon Bun Cookie

I wanted to show her deceitful personality through the flavor, and i arrived on cinnamon buns, primarily because cinnamon is a spice that can be very harmful to consume in huge doses, but many people seem to like the cinnamon flavor.

i use the cinnamon flower on her head, like how i put a flower on lupin's head, to kinda show that they have a similar personality and profession

Koichi Zenigata - Macadamia Cookie

the flavor was very easy to decide on. if you don't know, cookie run detective characters are typically nut cookies! (walnut cookie, almond cookie)

so i decided on macadamia nuts, the hardest nuts, because of his stubborn and headstrong personality

other than that, not a lot to comment. if you wonder why there's blue in his designs, i dont really know tbh, i used blue as a color base and i found it pretty on him.

I just started this art piece for my partner's b-day in April. One of his favorite characters is Geld from 'Reincarnated as a Slime' especially since Kokobu (a goblin child that's pretty much his daughter at this point) made an appearance (I love them too honestly)

Okay I get why artists make the background gray now! I've just been using random colors this whole time but for some reason the gray makes me work faster??? I've used it on my last three art pieces and I noticed that I spend longer on finishing the drafts instead of just putting it down randomly which makes me more excited to try finishing the art pieces! Ahhh my brain decided on the stupidest thing last night. I was trying to get motivated to touch literally any of the wips I have sitting around but no. My brain suddenly hyper focused on fucking My Little Pony!!! Specifically my and one of my partners pony Oc's on Pony Town, Berri Bloom(mine) and Mudpie (his) and decided fuck it human pony time!!!
