Totally agree. Not to mention the fact that Katniss wasn't trying to be the face of a rebellion, it just kind of happened to her. The biggest difference I noticed between THG and SOTR is that Haymitch was trying to end the games and actively rebel while Katniss would love that to happen but is primarily focused on the survival of herself and her family.
Katniss accidentally became the face of a revolution through a mixture of her natural reactions to her situation being publicized and the orchestration of those that have been behind the rebellion for decades.
It is not a teenage girl saves the world story it is a teenage girl becomes propaganda story.
Suzanne Collin’s just said fuck you to everyone who’s ever critiqued the Hunger Games as being a “teen girl saves the day” story. She said oh, Mockingjay didn’t make it clear enough? Here’s a book about how people have been rebelling for decades only to have their efforts suppressed and propagandized. Rebellion takes time and it takes failure and Katniss may have been the spark that ignited the wildfire but she did so standing atop the doused flames of everyone who came before her.
Growing up seems like it sucks. Ya know? I'm good with 16. 17 is as close to adulthood as I'm willing to get. Independent but not like responsible for anything
I’m sorry this is really weird and I don’t see a lot of oddly specific headcannony type stuff in this fandom, but it popped into my head and IDK why. 21st century AU obvi
Anthony: He played football (soccer) in school. Maybe he joins a rec league as an adult, IDK. Him and Simon definitely played football together when they were in school. I feel like Simon went on to play longer than Anthony and at a higher level. But he hits the gym pretty regularly, headphones in and zoned out, lifting workouts.
Benedict: Look, this guy has played sports, he’s been to a gym, but he does not play sports or go to the gym. He definitely played sports with his brothers or friends when he was a kid and stuff. He’s probably tried to start a couple workout programs, or randomly goes to the gym, but its not something he consistently does. Definitely makes it his new years resolution to get fit every couple of years and stops going to the gym by the end of January.
Colin: He plays rugby. Rugby is a very social sport and Colin is a fun social guy. He doesn’t play at an elite level or anything. He plays for a casual club team and lives for the post-game socials. He’s a bit cheeky so I definitely see him as a #9. Bonus: Penelope also plays rugby. This might be inner rugby player projecting, but I think they are an adorable rugby couple.
Daphne: Daphne is your classic basic hot girl at the gym. She is like a fitness influencer type, but more casual about it. She does incline walks on the treadmill, she wears cute matching legging sets in pastel pinks and blues, she lifts to. She goes to the gym with Simon and at the end of their workouts they take a mirror selfie at the gym.
Eloise: I’m a little unsure with this one. I feel like she either doesn’t bother or she does some random sport that really reflects who she is. Maybe a sport she played while she was in school, but doesn’t do anything as an adult. She might have done rugby with Penelope or something kind of random and niche like fencing.
Francessca: This is where its going to start getting rough because I haven’t read the books, but from what I gather Fran is kind of the smart one, kind of the tough one, but like keeps to herself. I see her doing something a little niche but totally bad ass like boxing.
Gregory: Football (soccer), typical British child playing a mainstream British sports. I can’t picture this kid as grown-up so that’s all I got.
Hyacinth: Hyacinth is wild, she is unhinged. I feel like she does not do any consistent sport or workout program, but she tries a bunch of different things and is pretty great at a lot of things. She’s definitely gotten like thrown of the field during a football match for like getting mad at the referee or getting too competitive or something. It’s great.
Twilight but it's a family sitcom!!! Edward gets made fun of for how emo he is. All the Cullen siblings play pranks on eachother. Resume (or whatever the fuck her name is) spends too much money shopping with Aunt Alice and crashes Edward's Volvo. Carlisle and Charlie are just rolling with the punches and dealing with everyone's shit. All the classic sitcom things happen, but it's still twilght.
I honestly can't wait to live on my own so I can eat Chinese food out of the container instead of on a plate
A Tier-my faves: The Good Place, New Girl, 30 Rock, Scream Queens
B Tier- I was invested and entertained, always happy to watch: Tacoma FD, The Mindy Project, Boy Meets World, The Goldbergs, Fresh off the Boat, Modern Family, Blackish, Superstore
C+: Brooklyn 99 (might be higher if I watched more)
C Tier-good shows to throw on when there’s nothing else to watch but I don’t particularly like it:The Office, Parks and Rec, Miracle Workers, Those Who Can’t Do, Suburbia
C-: Scrubs
D+: Friends (not a D because of the theme song and also its iconicness), My Name is Earl
D Tier- I watched a couple episodes, not a huge fan/didn’t hold my attention: Shrill (this show would be higher in the ranking if I were ranking it as a drama), Good Girls, Angie Tribeca
Most of these take place in some miscellaneous undefined AU that is much happier than cannon.
*Isadora and Quigley are thrill seekers and do really reckless things when they’re together that consequently give Duncan a stomach ache.
*However Duncan and Quigley do stupid things together that make Isadora role her eyes. Not stupid in a reckless way, but still in a ‘what the fuck were you thinking?’ sort of way. Things like chugging 3 gallons of water and not going pee for 3 hours on a dare.
*Violet doesn’t have any fucks left to give
*Violet is a wine aunt
*We already knew this but Klaus has woke barista energy and is supremely sassy
*As a teenager Sunny is a total stereotypical badass
*Duncan is a terrible babysitter
*Klaus Baudelaire has had too many iced coffees
*Klaus, Duncan, and Isadora are insomniacs but in completely different ways
*Klaus was just up that late because he had too much caffeine and he was reading and he didn’t know what time it was.
*Duncan’s been procrastinating all day but got a burst of energy and works manically between the hours of midnight and 3 AM
*Isadora is just full of energy and down to party or she wants to quietly look at the stars and write poems, no inbetween.
SOS by ABBA is insanely Cherik coded.
"I've tried to reach for you but you have closed your mind" I know it's low hanging fruit but it fits so perfectly!
So i couldn't remember if the 2nd and 3rd Narnia movies were real or not so I rewatched them. So now i have adorable modern au headcannons:
• Lucy steals her brother's sweatshirts constantly. She wears almost exclusively leggings and her brother's hoodies. They would be mad at her for it, but they're not b/c it's Lucy.
• at one point Edmund hides all his and Peter's sweatshirts as a prank. He hides them in Susan's room so that Peter has to awkwardly try and get his sweatshirt out of Susan's room without her knowing
• Eventually she steals Caspian's hoodies sometimes too, but that's usually Edmund's job
• Edmund is addicted to iced coffee and Lucy always tags along and gets him to buy her Starbucks.
• Lucy has a following on tik tok. One of her tik tok series is Starbucks with Edmund.
• During VoDT when Lucy wakes up Edmund that scene is followed by them watching vines together until 3am
• Peter is insta famous. Why? How? Nobody knows he just is
• Lucy adds Caspian and Eustace to the family group chat. It's chaotic
Peter and Edmund from Narnia have the same energy as Thor and Loki
I want to make a coffee shop that’s only open at night because Starbucks closes at 6 but I only want coffee at 10 pm. It would be like a fun little hangout for insomniacs.
