truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if sheβs sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. I asked her if sheβs perhaps worried sheβs a shadow of who she used to be and she said that if she is a shadow she is a joyous one, and anyway whoever she was she is her, now, and thatβs enough. I inquired about revenge, about unfinished business, about what had filled her with the incessant need to claw her way out from beneath but she just said sheβs here to live. I told her about ghosts, about zombies, tried to explain to her how her options lie between horror and tragedy but she just said if those are the stories meant for her then sheβll make another one. I said βisnβt it terribly lonely how in your triumph over death nobody was here to greet you?β and she just looked at me funny and said βwhat do you mean? The whole world was here, waitingβ. Some people, I tell you.
Concept: cursed blade rehabilitation center. Destroying a sentient weapon is expensive and highly unethical, so adventurers bring them to the center where highly trained staff can care for them and eventually find them forever homes. It turns out most cursed weapons are products of trauma and are not strictly evil themselves. Some blades turn out to be fiercely protective companions. Others don't even want to be weapons at all, finding joy in simple work like blacksmithing or farming. Most blades just need to be loved.

(just for the heck of it)
Character who starts out as an antagonist/villain and goes through a redemption arc
^ The above, but after they are redeemed, they still struggle to integrate in with 'the good guys' and have a long road of earning the trust of others
Homunculus/artificially created being who is misunderstood by others/longs to understand humanity
^ Especially when they are good but were created by someone evil
As an alternative take, a homunculus/artificially created being who was made by someone very good and struggles to live up to their creator's light
A very hard to get along with/seemingly jerk-y character who is actually extremely loving and sensitive deep down, and it shows around the people they trust
Siblings who are mirrors of the other (what they might be, could have been, and wish they were), who understand each other more deeply than anyone else but struggle to reconcile themselves to one another
Villains/antagonists who give the hero a terrible time but are actually really kind and considerate to their own associates (has a found family with all of their henchmen, has really good healthcare benefits and perks for their workers, is able to upkeep positive relationships and is actually respected)
