🎉 Happy 20th Birthday to The Sims 2! 🎉 (Poster obviously made by yours truly) Even though I only started playing The Sims 2 in July 2023, it quickly became one of my favorite games. I loved it so much that by the start of 2024, I tracked down and bought all the original copies of the expansions. Now, they sit proudly on my shelf, and even though I’m new to the game, there's this weird sense of nostalgia I feel every time I play. Maybe it’s the sound of the CD spinning in the drive or the unmistakable 2000s aesthetic of the furniture—it just hits differently. As far as gameplay mechanics go, The Sims 2 really stands out.
It blows my mind how The Sims 2 feels more realistic and polished in some ways than The Sims 4. The attention to detail, the depth in gameplay—it’s like they perfected the formula and then drifted away from it in later games. It’s a shame they moved away from that level of realism. The fact that The Sims 2 was the last game without all those microtransactions and endless DLCs is part of why it remains the best for so many fans. Each expansion was packed with meaningful content, not just small add-ons.
I really hope the magic of The Sims 2 influences the direction of future Sims games because it captured something special that newer versions haven’t quite matched.
After spending some time with the enchanting fairies, it's time to dive deeper into the supernatural with witches! These powerful spellcasters bring a whole new level of magic to the Sims world. With their bubbling cauldrons and ancient spellbooks, witches cast spells that can transform reality itself. the images are all owned by EA, but everything was composed by me.

I’m incredibly thankful for everything this game has given me. The Sims 4 was the second Sims game I played, after discovering The Sims 3 in 2012. When my sister told me a new Sims game was coming out, we were both so excited. She got The Sims 4, and I spent hours watching her play. She even let me try it out and showed me all the differences from The Sims 3. Even though I still played The Sims 3, I fell in love with The Sims 4’s art style. My sister let me play whenever she wasn’t, and I had a blast with it.
Around 2016, I drifted away from The Sims 4 but still kept up with the expansion packs and watched others play it. Then, in the summer of 2023, I picked it up again after seeing my sister was back into it. She insisted I play too, so I did, spending most of that summer immersed in the game. I took a break in the fall but started playing again in April 2024, having a great time until the LoveStruck expansion pack broke the game. I hesitated to continue playing because of all the issues, so I returned to The Sims 3, which I’ve been playing on and off since February 2024.
It would be sad if I couldn’t go back to The Sims 4, but I’ll always cherish the memories, especially how it brought my sister and me closer. Thank you, Sims 4, and all the developers who work tirelessly on it. I hope there’s more to come from The Sims 4 in the next couple of years!
