So, how exactly will the JWST go about studying these mysterious, ultra-dense objects? Well, black holes are known for their intense gravitational pull, which can cause nearby matter to heat up and emit radiation. The JWST's infrared capabilities will allow it to detect and study this radiation in detail, providing new insights into the behavior of black holes.
One of the key goals of the JWST's black hole research is to better understand the process of accretion, in which matter falls into the black hole and releases energy in the form of radiation. By studying this process in different types of black holes, the JWST could help shed light on some of the most fundamental questions in astrophysics, such as how galaxies form and evolve over time.
But the JWST won't just be looking at black holes in isolation. It will also be studying the way that black holes interact with their surrounding environments, including the stars and gas clouds that surround them. This could help us understand how black holes shape the evolution of galaxies and the wider universe.
All in all, the JWST's black hole research is set to be a game-changer for our understanding of the cosmos.

A new system of seven sizzling planets has been discovered using data from our retired Kepler space telescope.
Named Kepler-385, itโs part of a new catalog of planet candidates and multi-planet systems discovered using Kepler.
The discovery helps illustrate that multi-planetary systems have more circular orbits around the host star than systems with only one or two planets.
Our Kepler mission is responsible for the discovery of the most known exoplanets to date. The space telescopeโs observations ended in 2018, but its data continues to paint a more detailed picture of our galaxy today.
All seven planets are between the size of Earth and Neptune.
Its star is 10% larger and 5% hotter than our Sun.
This system is one of over 700 that Keplerโs data has revealed.
The planetsโ orbits have been represented in sound.
Now that youโve heard a little about this planetary system, get acquainted with more exoplanets and why we want to explore them.

Game Changer Discovery released on Mar 13, 2024: Webb Telescope Reveals Recipe for Life May Be Commonplace in the Universe
The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered complex organic molecules (COMs) around young stars that haven't even formed planets yet. These COMs, often linked to life on Earth, were found frozen in ice.
This discovery suggests life's building blocks might be much more common in the universe and could be delivered to young planets by comets and asteroids. Webb's future observations will help us understand how COMs form and move throughout stellar systems, potentially revealing prime locations for life beyond Earth. #JWST #SpaceNews #Astrobiology
