Associate Photo Editor Kristen McNicholas has been responsible for looking at daily uploads so she has the first set of eyes on every image that the Your Shot community shares. “Hello! This is Matt Adams, tagging in for Kristen McNicholas for this weeks Photos of the Week. I had a tough edit to face down as there were some excellent uploads from the Your Shot community. I can see there were many submissions that were being prepared for the Rethinking Portraiture assignment as well as The Best Photos of August 2018. My edit features images that made me pause and think about how I wanted to learn so much more about the photographer and story behind the image. Personally, I love telling stories. Whether it’s with friends, or family, or meeting someone for the first time I love to share tales of things I witnessed or that directly happened to me. I hope you enjoy all these stories I found from our Your Shot photographers. Also this week’s ender is a great dedication to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin!”
