What if c!quackity finds out abt c!dreams’ sh. He decides that since he’s so good at hurting himself, he can give c!quackity a break. C!dream being instructed to inflict pain, being handed a weapon and only able to turn it against himself. One of his few forms of control taken by c!quackity. Self harm had been an unhealthy coping mechanism, but it was one of only a few coping mechanisms’ he’d had
thinking about c!dreams clock once again
Constantly throwing it away makes so much sense, beyond just as a way to see c!sam.
The constant ticking only serves to let him feel every second of his time imprisoned. To know exactly how many days he’s been locked away, that’s a torture all on it’s own. But so would ignorance. To be unsure of how much time has passed between each delivery of food rations. Are they coming further apart now? C!sam comes to give him a new clock and says its been only a day, but he’d been so sure a week had passed.
an effect of solitary confinement is paranoia. C!dream begins to suspect his clock has been tampered with. It speeds up, slows down. Surely it hasn’t been that long yet? And yet, surely its been longer?
he cares too much about this inanimate object. Anytime he realises that he couldn’t bare to have it taken from him, he destroys it himself.
Fun fact- raw potatoes have high amounts of vitamin c. At least c!dream won’t get scurvy?
Some people- the exile arc was harmful, it nearly drove c!tommy to suicide’
Me- ‘okay we can agree on that! And that the prison arc is also harmful because c!dream has been driven to suicide. Right?’
Some people- ‘no c!dream is a psychopath/ is incapable of feeling bad/ is only copying how c!tommy reacted/ is manipulating everyone/ deserves it.’
What. The. Fuck.
C!dream is raised by c!puffy on her ship, around raucous sailors who regale him with tales of their adventures, who sing together horribly off key, and his childhood lullabies were the songs sung by his shipmates.
C!dream sings sea shanties alone in his cell to fill the silence.
And he wonders where his family, where his mother, have gone.
The tunes don’t sound the same when sung by one voice that trembles with unshed tears.
With C!dream claiming to be a god, there are three options.
He’s telling the truth (which is a definite possibly when taking into account c!dreamxd), he’s lying, or he genuinely believes it.
If he’s lying, he was quite literally dehumanising himself. He was trying to make other people see him as a just a threat, instead of a person. It would also serve as a way to purge himself of his attachments, after all, what deity cares about mere humans?
But if he genuinely believed it, that is a delusion of grandeur, and should be taken seriously. It can be a feature of mania or psychosis, and can be extremely dangerous. (C!dream does not necessarily have either of these conditions, but it is concerning nonetheless)
What if:
c!dream remembers how almost the entire server watched as he lost two canon lives; and that no one said anything to stop him being murdered.
c!dream has recurring nightmares where the server watches again, but this time it’s as c!quackity takes his sanity.
C!dream becomes so sure that there are other people in the cell when c!quackity visits him. That the people he once called friends are watching him be tortured. Sometimes he sees them out of the corner of his eye, other times he can only feel them watching. Sometimes he begs for their help, pleads with the mirages his mind has conjured. C!quackity will occasionally indulge these hallucinations, pretend to interact with them, make c!dream detail exactly who he’s seeing. Other times he taunts c!dream with the knowledge of his tenuous grasp on reality, question the logic of certain peoples presence, and do anything he can to remind c!dream that he’s alone, that he only has c!quackity now.
C!dream tells c!techno how many witnesses there had been to his torture. C!techno tells him it wasn’t real, that no one could have watched his suffering and stood idly by. C!dream is so grateful, he’d been so confused when everyone, even his best friends, had done nothing as they watched him be murdered. But it hadn’t been real... right?
On the whole who’s older, c!wilbur or c!techno debate I may have overthought my answer...
I love the idea of c!techno not knowing his birthday and choosing c!wilburs’ as his own? And this of course leads to many wonderful angst opportunities! But then I got to thinking.. how would c!techno know his birthday?? HOW DO PIGLINS TELL TIME??!!
There is no day/night cycle in the nether! Clocks don’t work!! There aren’t even seasons! But then I decided to just think up some cool piglin cultural practices that might work.
First of all piglins don’t have any sort of sleep schedule. They sleep when they want! The only real requirement is making sure that there are always some people awake and on lookout duty, and certain events might mean that an entire community is awake all at one time, but other then that it’s a case by case basis.
C!techno still has the strangest sleeping habits (at least to the overworlders around him). Whenever someone mentions their sleep schedule around him he gets incredibly confused. He can fall asleep whenever he needs to, in any light conditions (This comes in handy when he’s in pandoras vault). He may function similarly to someone with non-24-hour sleep-wake-disorder but I need to do more research before making that comparison! (Although that would certainly make an interesting point about the concept of the social model of disability? I may make a post in the future!).
How would piglins determine age? My idea around this is that age is determined by milestones. There are words in the piglin language that mean ‘walking age’ or ‘talking age’, and are used to refer to a child once they’ve reached that milestone. This may also mean that their society has a greater understanding of how different people mature at different speeds, that two children might meet their early milestones all at the same time, that may change as they get older, or vice versa. In the case of certain disabilities it would be looked at on a case by case basis, and if a certain milestone is skipped that wouldn’t be an issue! I imagine that ‘tusking age’ would be the most important, and correspond with the overworlds’ idea of adulthood. There are so many cool add ons that could be incorporated into this concept! For example ‘teaching age’ could be bestowed upon a piglin once they’ve grown to old to participate in combat, and instead act as teachers and community leaders.
When c!techno is asked his age, and then responds with a piglin word, everyone is incredibly confused. C!techno is then absolutely baffled by the overworld concept of age. He asks if these numbers always correspond to someones maturity, and is further confused when told no. Because if that was the case then why is so much importance placed on them! Mind you, he’s spent a while around an immortal so that definitely didn’t help his understanding.
If anyone has any additions to this I’d love to hear them! Worldbuilding is so much fun. I also hope there aren’t any glaring errors in this, but please let me know if there are
After pandoras vault, c!dream can’t be around clocks anymore; not without falling into a dissociative state, convinced he once again has nothing but the endless ticking to keep him sane
Are the c!dream antis ready to hear the research on solitary confinement yet or???
both c!tommy and c!sapnap have said that Pandora's vault is a fate worse then death
