The moment Tigris tells Snow he looks like his father, my heart broke.
That's her Prim.
That's the child she took care of while being a child herself, stuck with an adult who couldn't care for them all that well. She tried so hard and sacrificed so much for the boy that despite all her love still turns into a monster.
Katniss's Prim dies, but Tigris' Prim destroys every part of the boy she raised, to the point she wants him dead and has nothing in her heart for him except absolute loathing.
I just want them to be a happy family 😭😭😭
Posting it as a wip because I might not finish it by Act 3 🥲
Another one of the Peeta moments that rot in my brain constantly is the scene in catching fire when Katniss and Finnick get stuck with the Jabberjays.
Peeta had his hands pressed against the force field, trying so so hard to be there for her and wanting so badly to protect her. And when it finally ended he held her, and rocked her, and let her hide her face in his arms, and protected her for as long as she needed him to and…..that’s just so ughhhh….so heartbreakingly sweet.
Working non-stop on my comic so I can enter the Webtoon contest and my back will never recover I fear
@icelynia
I have unironically thought this for years and even started writing one my senior year of high school lmao
My headcanon for God Games is that the events of Eros and Psyche are happening at the same time and that’s why Aphrodite is upset as Odysseus for leaving home and breaking his mother’s heart
saw a stupidass take about my favorite guy but im being sooo brave about it
I’ve heard some people complain about them changing Fiyero’s introduction scene, and I get that, but I LOVED it!
Changing it from a very public meeting with Elphaba to a 1 on 1 meeting made it so, instead of him trying to make the crowd laugh (at her expense), he was trying to make HER laugh which is so so good imo
as katniss and peeta enter the capitol for the first time, katniss is shocked at how peeta is able to hold his ground by smiling and waving to the capitol citizens (thg, 59). and she immediately concludes that this is because peeta is already fighting hard to survive (thg, 60). and fighting hard to kill her (thg, 60).
just like everyone else in his situation would.
but literally every other word he says to katniss in this book is about how he doesn't actually think he is going to survive this. like when they are talking about their skills (thg, 90). or when he is explaining how he wants to die as himself and not stoop to the capitol's level (thg, 141). or when he is trying to tell katniss what he wants her to know before he dies in the cave (thg, 261).
by the end of the first games, i am sure that peeta had started to think of himself as a survivor. a victor. after all, he was about to survive a brutal death arena with his lover.
but then the rule changed. and only one of them could survive. and any drive of his to survive did not stop him from immediately realizing that katniss needs to be the one to live. because he needs her to live.
and so, throwing all survival instincts to the wind, he threw his knife into the river and released the bandage from his wound (thg, 342). he was planning on dying for her. he just didn't realize that his songbird was thinking the same.
and this continues in the second game when both katniss and peeta hyperfocus on how they can ensure their lover's survival. knowing that it would cost their own life.
they both don't really consider themselves survivors. or, if they do, they recognize how they will need to just forget all of their natural instincts to survive. because there is something more important.
and it is almost like they both decided to be survivors in the quell because they need to survive just long enough to help give the other person a better chance of surviving. because what is the point of surviving if your happiness dies alongside your lover.
I don’t precisely know how to phrase this, and truly, I have too many things I would simply die to see in your wonderful style, so I can throw some potential inspiration out there:
1. (More THG adjacent but) I am so compelled by the fact that Lenore Dove, Lucy Gray, and Peeta all have a connection to the color orange … would you ever draw a Lenore Dove-centric piece with nods to LGB & P?
2. And then of course any scene with Haymitch … I simply love the way you illustrate him … particularly the way you show us scenes from the trilogy from his POV … 👀👀👀👀
3. Orrr maybe, more SOTR specific … Burdock (perhaps emerging from the mist in the woods as he does) and the Covey graves …
But honestly, I’ll gobble up anything you create with a spoon. A spoon, I tell you.
All very very very good suggestions!
BUT something people might not know about me is Burdock has been one of my absolute FAVORITE HG characters for YEARS now (when his name was revealed my reaction actually startled my friend I was with)
And in the epilogue Haymitch’s mentions him proudly touting baby Katniss around
I HAD to draw him proudly with both his little girls
Handala (حنظلة) is a symbol of Palestinian resistance. He was created in 1969 by political cartoonist Naji al-Ali, critical of Israel as well as Arab regimes.
Handala is 10 years old, the age Naji was when he was forced to leave his home during the 1948 Nakba, and is always seen from his turned back. Today, Handala is still 10 years old. On the day Handala is able to return home, he will then grow up and be seen from the front.
Naji died on August 29, 1987, victim of an assassination. Naji lives on through Handala.
