can i just say that dream did amazing with the script and just general acting for the finale.
punz confirmed that dream wrote almost the whole finale script by himself and the way that he kept the plot going for an hour straight was incredible. he told a story, and the finale storyline alone was so good, that i believe that even a new viewer would be hooked from this one “episode” personally, i feel that this might be my favorite episode of all time just due to the fact that it was so nicely paced and he obviously put a lot of thought into the time frame for stuff.
something i actually prefer about dream’s writing is that he tends to try and include every single person on the smp who wants in on the script. i think in this episode especially, incorporating items from many members on the smp gives them all a chance to be in the lore if they want to take it. with the entrance of everyone after punz, i feel that it was more tasteful (?) than large group events have been in the past because it didn’t feel like they were just kinda there, but that they were all their for a purpose.
and his acting. jesus christ he’s a good villain and his voice acting has gotten so much better. we’re used to him being a sort of emotionless, egotistical character, so to have his character either fake nerves and worry, was super cool to see. he does a really good job conveying his character through other people, and he does it all with only his voice.
yes, this is just me ranting about how cool i think dream is idk
constant drive to talk about my ocs but also the eternal issue of not being able to articulate my thoughts properly so just imagine that i am grabbing you like this. there are things in my mind but they are not escaping
I'm all for Phil favoring Techno due to Techno being this "ideal child prodedgy" or whatever, but consider the opposite.
The reason Philza was so distant and neglectful of Wilbur and Tommy was because Technoblade was a handful. You have this kid born from blood, who's got voices in his head and a penchant for violence. And while Wilbur was mentally ill, it wasn't nearly as prominent and had the immediate physical and emotional impacts that Techno's mental illness did when they were kids.
And so Philza felt he had to overcompensate. All his energy and praise were spent on Techno, because he was the one struggling the most in the moment, with socializing or recognizing physical boundaries or having an episode. He spent a lot of time ressuring Techno that he wasn't a monster, even being proud of Techno and his accomplishments and skills when it came to combat.
And in the process he neglected to give Wilbur and Tommy the proper attention, didn't catch Wil's early signs of depression, didn't repremand Tommy when he acted out.
Just a fresh take I thought I'd share.
@heroescourage
“what am I without you?” “Yourself” is such a raw gut wrenching exchange and it came from a minecraft roleplay which goes to show the medium doesn’t matter and stories can be good no matter what when the writer(s) have the passion and heart for it
you punch nazis!

There's so much pain in that second to last image.
Also the amazing self-awareness of these movies, not caring about bending over to popular media demand and actually addressing heavy topics instead of censoring or down playing them. 👏
As much as Tommy giving up the discs would make things so much easier for everyone, to have him stop caring about the discs, unless it was for the right reasons, would be a really narratively depressing decision in my opinion.
Dream and Tommy are similar in a lot of ways. They’ve both been involved in most of the server’s conflict, arguably even the ones who cause the conflict, they’re both pretty much alone right now, they’ve both pushed everyone near them away in pursuit of the same thing: the discs. And we can argue for ages if Tommy’s quest for the discs is selfish, or if he deserves to have something for himself, or that they don’t really mean anything. But at the end of the day, what makes Dream and Tommy’s desire for the discs different is this: Tommy cares about them, because he gets sentimentally attached to things, and people, and places. He’s emotional, and he’s put his heart into so many parts of the server. His issue is that he got lost in caring about the discs themselves, and forgot that what he really cares about is what they represent: early days of peace, the ideals of L’Manberg, and most importantly, his relationship with Tubbo. So when Tubbo tells him the discs aren’t important, to Tommy, this is Tubbo telling him that the way he cares about things doesn’t matter.
On the other side is Dream. Again, we can argue for ages if Dream actually cares about anything or anyone at all. But he told us himself that he only cares about the discs because they give him power over Tommy, and by extension, all the people around him. The thing that makes Dream so terrifying to fight is that he really seems to not care about anything at all. He’s not attached to anything that Tommy can hold against him. If Tommy were to follow that path, and give up the discs because he doesn’t care anymore, that would only bring him closer to being like Dream. The message would that caring makes you weaker, that it’s something you must rid yourself of and avoid at all costs. And that wouldn’t be a very good message at all.
In the end, the difference in their desires are what makes Tommy more of a hero, and Dream more of a villain. Dream doesn’t care, he’s willing to manipulate and use people just to gain power and control. Tommy cares about the discs because he’s passionate and cares about his friends and the original ideals of L’Manberg. He’s just gotten so focused on the discs that he’s forgotten what they represent. And I think he could give up the discs if he remembers, but not because he doesn’t care.
Sentimentality, loving things and people and caring and having passion, those are the things that give life meaning. That’s what Tommy has that Dream doesn’t.
People on tumblr be like “Wilbur isn’t a redeemable character because he was a bad dad and also mentally ill” please just say you don’t know how redemption arcs work and move on
Plots to look out for in season 3 of the DreamSMP
The Egg
This giant red egg is taking over the server, and the minds of people. To our knowledge the egg will suck red out of individuals leaving them white and controlling their actions, and will turn blue individuals red with no moral attachments.
It’s only known weakness is the holyland and the holy water of Church Prime.
It’s spreading fast, and we either need to deal with it now or face the consequences.
If you want to follow this storyline, watch members like Badboyhalo, Skeppy, Captainpuffy, Antfrost, Awesamdude, and Punz!
The Prison
The inescapable prison, now home to Dream is an intricate structure overseen and built by Awesamdude.
This storyline has just begun so there is not much information to go off of but it will be connected to the revival of dead members.
If you want to watch this story develop follow Awesamdude, Punz, Sapnap(?), Dream(if he streams), and occasionally members such as Tommy and Ranboo who will visit to speak to Dream.
The Revival
Death is no longer permanent, or difficult to undo. With Dream holding the knowledge to reverse it, Wilbur and Jschlatts deaths will most likely be reversed, having both positive and negative consequences.
Revival was attempted in season 2 but tempering with it was very dangerous, Dream apparently has a way around this with what should lead to the revival of Wilbur per agreement, but the return of Jschlatt as well.
If you wish to see this new sudden plot, watch Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, Fundy(?), Philza(?), Ranboo(?), Jsclatt(if he streams), and Dream(if he streams)
This plot has only just begun so there’s not much information on who is involved and it could take awhile to develop.
The Syndicate
Techno and Philza’s discovery of a stronghold and the end portal frame better know currently as a table, is the beginning to their new secret organization.
There’s not much plot developped currently, but what we can understand is that it is an organization consisting of Philza and Techno most likely in aposition to governments, standing for anarchy. Ranboo may become connected with this plot as he’s currently staying with them but is not aware of it yet.
So far the only ones to view this plot from is Philza and Technoblade, but they may get more members soon.
The Front
Snowchester aka Tubbo new seemingly vacation home is a front for his escapades in nuclear weapons, originally made to fight against dream, but currently have no specific target to Tubbo’s knowledge.
This could become very dangerous very soon, as Tubbo is working with Jackmanifold, who is currently looking to destroy Tommy alongside Nikki.
To see this plot watch Tubbo, JackManifold, Nihachu, Tommy(?), and Ranboo(?).
This plot is currently up in the air after the season finale, we should see more of it soon However.
Let me know of anymore major plots I may have missed, major information I should add, or corrections to character relevancy.
