desperately and constantly needing external validation for your supposed identities is literal proof that those identities do not belong to you. a brown haired person doesn’t need other people endlessly affirming them brown haired to be reminded that they are brown haired. they just are brown haired.
Because when I think about when women are most powerful, I immediately think of women who are literally virgins, who know exactly who they are. Before they have internalized the gaze of men and adjusted their behaviour accordingly, they exude confidence, competence, independence and completeness.
"masculine" & "feminine" are inferior terms
controversial take, but I don’t have much sympathy for people who decide to carry a pregnancy to term where the fetus ends up being a severely disabled person, just for them to complain about how hard their life is. you had a choice. you made it. stop being a perpetual victim. the victim is the disabled person who has to suffer now from your selfish decision.
Nobody on radblr ever goes "hm. female socialization is so prevalent and suffocating that certain women will rebel against it and look down on women perpetuating it. We need to be considerate of them too. #all women are my sisters"
It only gets mentioned in the context of "be considerate and say nothing against str8 momma #16781265829^10 who is doing everything patriarchy wants her to even if it's throwing you under the bus"
hm. so interesting
Remember that “I think everyone should have the freedom and autonomy to make decisions regarding their own personal life” will never mean “all decisions and outcomes are equally good”.
Conversely, the statement “some decisions are better than others” does not imply the statement “decisions should be compelled.”
Freedom of choice liberalism has turned into a lazy ambivalence about how the choices we make either positively negatively impact ourselves and the people around us.
A critique of someone’s choices has been too often mistaken as an attack on their right to make that choice. For example, if I say that the glorification of tradwifery on TikTok will lead to bad outcomes for young girls, the statement “tradwives should not be allowed to post on TikTok” is nowhere near implied. If I say that wearing makeup encourages compliance by other women and perpetuates a patriarchal erasure of the image of women, I am not saying that I have any desire to make makeup illegal.
Those are certainly statements that feminists could make, but only assume that’s what someone means if they actually say it.
Opposing choice feminism does not an authoritarian make.
(of course this doesn’t apply to choices which directly aid or perpetrate sexual or physical violence)
Been seeing some ignorant ass takes that assume that bp/sep women have done nothing for women.
I was a crisis line worker for a rape shelter. My job was to find and secure shelter spaces for homeless women, to coordinate appointments for women entering rehabilitation centers, to fundraise, to research legal records for violent male offenders, and to offer peer support and counselling over the phone for women - often for victims of male sexual abuse.
There was an incident where a lesbian woman contacted us seeking help, because she needed a place to stay temporarily, and the shelter was extremely hesitant to help her and gave her a difficult time because she wasn't directly a victim of male violence. Even though they had the means to help her.
~50% of the shelter's volunteers at that time were lesbians.
The woman who came to us was shocked and felt mishandled. I was disappointed as well and I had been advocating for her. She lost faith in the organization, which she had trusted because of its reputation. And I said, this is not sitting right with me. So I quit.
The excuse “they didn’t teach us this at school” tells me the person has been spoon fed information at school their entire life and have become so accustomed to it, they now feel entitled to it. Everything they should know must served to them otherwise how could they know? Which is absurd since they’re the same people who know so many useless information about celebrities and who broke up and who married who. Their main problem is entitlement. Also, education main purpose is to teach people how to reason and obtain and analyze information. If you can’t do that then education was wasted on you.
Next time someone tells you women are meant to have children blah blah blah have them look up what a placenta is. We are so misinformed about the female body that despite most of us hearing that word before, we don’t really think about its role. The placenta is built by the embryo (not the mother) to essentially hide itself from the mother. Because otherwise she would KILL IT. It’s a foreign body with half of another person’s genetic code. Also we all have heard about the hormone HCG but most of us hear of it in regards to pregnancy tests and not the fact that it forces the mother’s uterus to start secreting a protein to feed the embryo. With every pregnancy, the fetus and mother are in competition. The fetus wants to grow and the mother tries to protect herself and not DIE. we are capable of pregnancy, we have the organs necessary to birth new life. This does NOT mean our organs are for anyone but ourselves. Every part of you is there FOR YOU. Regardless of what anyone might say. Don’t be ashamed of not wanting children. Don’t feel like a broken woman for not being able to have children. Don’t let anyone tell you your sexuality is wrong because it doesn’t result in offsprings.
*US online activist voice* you want me to give up fucking strawberry milkshakes???for so-called """global south""" if that's even a real thing.jokes on you. fucking that syrawberry miklshake brings me JOY and joy makes the Big Cheeto angry. and that's the truest activism. so you can stick your "brown" (??what does that even MEAN) strawmen up your ass. i prioritize Real, Tangible forms of protest, such as sticking my in this glass of milkshake, over your made-up gotchas (noce try, "africa"... when you're making up name locations at least try to make them sound real LMAO) that you clearly fabricated to create division and discord among activists. terminally online people telling you "poor" (?) "people" are "slave labour" for our "luxuries" but if you actually go outside and TOUCH GRASS you'd already know that you get milkshake from the store, not from child slaves. but i bet purit culture will find something wrong with going to the store too 🙄
