i think a protective and jealous tails is kinda out of character but i could totally see him distancing himself and getting uncomfortable at the thought of sonic actually going out with someone,, i think his will-they-wont-they with amy actually makes him feel MORE secure because at least sonic is preoccupied. like, nobody's gonna ask him out with amy around yknow. and as long as sonic never confesses to liking amy tails can keep living out his fantasy of maybe one day (not actually) asking out sonic

Saw your Bluesky "understand my ship in 5 minutes" post and it broke something in my brain wrt Sonic.exe and I kinda love the thought of pairing him with Tails now?? Me (helpless and extremely mortal fox kit) and the bad bitch (eternal omnipotent reality-bending murder monster) I pulled by being cute, fluffy, and easily spied on/obsessed over.

Something about the terror of being loved by someone who can be anyone, anywhere, anytime, bend the universe around himself so Tails can never get away, watch Tails' every move from places Tails can't see...put that fox in the panopticon tbh
