I cannot stress this enough a seperate peace holy shit a seperate peace their dynamic is so much more interesting and intense in a platonic way especially because close male friendships that shared strong emotional bonds are still kinda taboo in modern society the fact this man wrote such a compelling story about jelousy friendship and love and shame all bundled into one gut piercing line after the other i HATED when people started saying they were gay like yes okay slay i love it in an entertainment standpoint but holy FUCK its so much more heartbreaking from a platonic standpoint PLEASE let close frienships with awesome chemistry exist in works of literature without it immediately being assumed to be romantic
