After I came home from rowing, I couldn't move a muscle. We hadn't the time for a break out on the water and had foolishly chosen a more difficult to handle boat while also not having someone to steer it. It was exhausting to do both. I kept turning around since it was busy out on the canals and I had to steer us with the sculls myself. Nevertheless, I adore being out with the boat. The sky and sun are bright, the wind refreshing and on the shores sit happy people: reading, playing with their dogs, having a barbecue or a drink. I too treated myself but to a pizza and quiet night with a book. Despite that, I carried the exhaustion into the new day and find it difficult to focus on my Czech essays. Somehow I have the ludicrous expectation to make it perfect, all-encompassing, when a good reflection is simply dependent on a specific question and a well-conceived argument.

Big fan of an espresso tonic.
Weather’s turned for the better; sun has returned and everything is beginning to flower, to the detriment of my allergies. But nice weather warrants espresso tonics again, so there’s that small delight to enjoy amidst everything. Time of pressure in the PhD program again. Acquaintance of mine dropped out of the program a bit ago and gave me a small notebook before leaving. Mentioned knowing how much I like writing on paper and felt it was an apt parting gift. Aim to honor their intent by getting good mileage out of said notebook; in tandem with my normal spiral bound, it has thus far served its purpose well.

Devastating! You just saw a take that you don't agree with! This is a check for reading comprehension and the practice of good faith.

What emotion was this intended to inspire?
What was the goal the speaker was trying to achieve?
How could this be interpreted differently?
Is there context that would change the meaning?
Is the speaker qualified?
Reflect
What is your first reaction and why did you have that specific reaction?
Is it an issue that is harming you and/or did the group being harmed directly state that this harms them?
Do you accept the consequences that could result from interacting?
Is the speaker someone you can reason with?
What assumptions are you making about the speaker?
Speak
What is the goal of your words?
What audience are you catering towards?
Are you talking to the person with respect?
How could your words be interpreted differently?
What reaction will people have towards your words and how is it being achieved?
this is the biggest project and the most involved i've been in a project from beginning to (hopefully) end and i need to pitch my execution plan to our engineering team today. i've done these kinds of presentations many times before and prepared thoroughly, so i'm not nervous about the meeting itself, just about the scope, scale, scheduling and responsibilities i have for this project in general. i just have to remind myself that at a certain point it becomes a little too unproductive to think too many steps ahead. i'll take my time and put it together piece by piece 😌
🎯 agenda today:
📝 team check-in meeting
💻 presentation meeting
👩💻 follow-up tasks (notes consolidation, further research)
🤝 meeting with my mentor
📝 ticketing (task breakdown for actual execution)
🗓️ send out follow-up schedules

It's been a bit but a lot has happened recently. I passed the Network+ certification about two weeks ago. Since then, I've picked up my web development class again aiming to finish before I start a new job in a couple of weeks. I rediscovered? a cute coffee shop near my house to study at and I spent about two hours there today. The coffee was a 7/10. I nearly finished the 5th chapter of my online textbook. I'm ready to be done with this class.
