Thank you @theweirdalienoftheweb and everyone who got me to 250 reblogs!
A while back I saw a Hozier related post about people simplifying Hozier’s lyrics and as an example of songs that are actually just about naughty stuff they gave Butchered Tongue.
Butchered Tongue. The song SO clearly about Ireland being colonised and his relationship with the Irish language.
“As a young man blessed to pass so many road signs and have my foreign ear made fresh again on each unlikely sound” is him reading signs in Irish.
“The ears were chopped from young men if the pitch cap didn’t kill them. They are buried without scalp in the shattered bedrock of our home” Irish men being killed, having their ears cut of and having their scalp cut off.
Ireland is probably the only country in Europe that has been colonised. They have been fighting for their rights for centuries and you wanna write this song of as “just about sex”????
Have you heard Jensen sing? If you haven’t, listen to “Drowning” on Spotify
Actually cause I got curious given my last post
145079 words and 52 pages! Slowly but surely. The goal is 200 pages, so still a long way to go
Just hit 7000 words!!!! It's just 28 pages but it's progress
Vincent: So what do you do for a living
Thomas: I hunt and kill zombies
Vincent: The fuck no you don't
Thomas: Have you ever seen one?
Vincent: No?
Thomas: Then you are fucking welcome
Young Vincent to Young Thomas after he's 11 drinks in: Tommy you are going to kill your liver
Young Thomas: my liver has been living rent-free in my body for 17 years! it's about time it starts pulling its weight
Marinette: Fuck the rich
Sol, breathless: please do
Marinette: What?
Sol: What?
Marinette: What?
Lyn, not looking away from her book: I think he said "please do"
Marinette: Wait-
"why does writing take so long" because 60% of it is coming up with a sentence, realizing that sentence doesn't work the way you want it to, and staring at a wall
Can we please agree on having aging characters? Like they have birthdays and stuff, we should incorporate and acknowledge that characters age during books and aren't the same age in the end.
Batman and Two-Face get hit with a de-ageing gun and become teenagers again. Chaos ensues. (Could be a great idea for a Bruce/Harvey fanfic.)
How does Gotham deal with temporarily losing its main superhero and a supervillain? How does the Batfamily and Justice League deal with this?
You can obviously choose what you want to happen but it would be funny for the Batkids to expect their dad to be sad and angry but he's the opposite, dancing on tables, drinking, partying, flirting, singing loudly (like belting 80s pop songs).
Sol mom: Nothing in life is free.
Sol's sister, Lyn: Love is free.
Sol: Adventure is free.
Marinette: Everything is free if you take it without paying.
