i love you visible brushstrokes. i love you glue warped scrapbook pages. i love you awkward poems. i love you junk journal with faded receipts. i love you poorly composed journal layout. I love you unintentionally blurry photographs. i love you asymmetrical beading. i love you curling freeform crochet. i love you fingerprints on pottery. i love you reused materials. i love you improvised instruments. i love you mistakes. i love you bravery to make it anyway. i love you creativity that hasn't been wiped clean of every drop of humanity and sanitized and commodified.
I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid’s runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are— particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain (“I’m not a big one for paying compliments…”), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself.” - Unknown
I refuse to believe Bodkin has blonde hair and blue eyes because look at him on the cover of knock 3 times
I'm shit at remembering and I haven't finished the series but has Cressida Cowell actually described him as having blonde hair and blue eyes? Because I genuinely can't believe that
"I ship Hiccup and Camicazi!"
Rest in peace Silco, you would've loved Luke Castellan
so, I did a thing
my brain vomited on a piece of paper about ✨cowboy✨hiccup because idk man. i just think a wild-westified httyd au would be pretty neat. but with dragons, because i know jack shit about drawing horses
bonus from @spacenintendogs:
#makes sense httyd is just a horse girl franchise
I truly don't care that they're making her black because it's just a movie and I'll be perfectly fine and shes a great pick for astrid but what bugs me about it is that big companies will cast minorities to be more diverse but it feels like they're exploiting the actor/actress by using their image to make themselves look good.
"Look! Our cast is diverse! Give us your money!" While they expose their actors to loads of backlash and racial discourse
VikIngS AreNt BlaCk WhY is She blaCk? ThAt’s nOt HistoriCally AccuRate
I’ll hold you hand when I say this, but dragons aren’t historically accurate either. No one cares that she’s Black
That being said, I still think the costumes look too cartoonish, this one as well, and it does make the whole movie look a bit uncanny valley. But that’s besides the point.
Spoiler: he doesn’t get up. In fact, he goes lower and pulls her down with him.
I <3 similarities between the books and the movies
Hiccup being left handed.
Hiccup's speech in the epilogue of THW was the first thing Hiccup said in the books.
I liked how Hiccup in the movies was like he was based off a different Hiccup from the books in each movie. Like in httyd 1 he was like Hiccup the first in the sense that he was the first person to befriend and nurse a dragon back to health in thousands of years. Then it httyd 2 he was like Hiccup the 2nd because he wanted to peacefully show Drago that dragons shouldn't be enslaved and it ended in a disaster. Then in httyd 3 he was like Hiccup the third because he has to come to terms with the fact that dragons and humans can't coexist so he had to let the dragons go.
