It's Exactly What I Think. Thank You For Reading My Mind & Writing It ❤️

It's exactly what i think. Thank you for reading my mind & writing it ❤️

I'm tempted to say I told you so. - Gladbach vs FCB - 22.03.2015

Today showed exactly what happens if you gift a match to the 2nd goalie within the hot phase. You take routine and a good rhythm away from the No. 1 and put an immense pressure on his shoulders.

In Manu’s case this weighs even double and triple cuz of the few shots he gets on his goal in general and the position he is in with all the worldwide media attention.

Yes it’s a nice gesture to gift a match to Pepe and we all saw what a happy muffin he was that day. And moreso, he did a pretty fine job. I said already back then tho: What happens if Pepe plays a good match and Manu makes a booboo exactly in the next match against Gladbach?

And exactly that happened. Of course Manu is human and is allowed to do mistakes, don’t get me wrong. I’m not mad at him or anything, things like that happen to the best and he’s one of the best. With Golfsburg just playing a draw FCB can afford to lose… heck even if Golfsburg had won FCB can afford to lose, which is just be the 2nd loss in the whole season so far mind you. Thinking Manu will never do a mistake ever again is just delusional.

But the timing for this blunder was awful. Manu hasn’t played in 1 1/2 weeks, and the last match he played was without much work so you can even say he didn’t play for 2 weeks. Now the first shot on his goal in the match against Gladbach was in the net, and it was also by a mistake from Manu. After 2 frickin weeks without real activity for him on the pitch. That doesn’t do anything good to the mental fitness of a keeper. You could literally see his growing insecurity just from the look on his face, it was all like fuck fuck fuck what did I do fuck fuck fuck where can I hide? You could also see it during his save in the second half. He usually goes into an infight without fear, but this time he turned his head away as he feared to get the foot of the other player in his face after the ball bounced off the pole (actually, i think it’s good he did that cuz health comes first and all that, but it’s really not what he usually does, he’s usually fearless). And the next matches are the ones with the German NT with team mates he didn’t play with in this combination for months.

This is another great mistake by Pep, after the one last year when he announced the BuLi finished for Bayern way before the season was over and he started some wild rotations. Regular playtime is so very essential for a keeper cuz of their few ball contacts compared to a field player. A friend of mine is a keeper, too and he hates to be benched cuz of this very reason.  But I’m sure the media will haunt Manu now instead of looking a bit further to analyze just why he lost his rhythm.

Anywho, I’m not even angry cuz I’ve seen it coming and mentally prepared myself for it. I hope Pep will learn from this and stops experiments on the keeper position during the hot phase. He put Manu under extreme pressure which was totally uncalled for and the pressure is even higher now (next match against BVB). And for Manu I hope he can smile again very soon. He just shouldn’t do the mistake and read any news or watch any football related tv shows cuz one rule is if Bayern loses just one match there is a crisis, and there will be a lot of discussions about Manu that’s for sure.

Shame on Bayern fans in the stadium tho who whistled and boo’ed at him. I refuse to call such people fans, they’re just a disgrace, fucking glory hunters. Either you are a fan of a team and its players thru thick and thin or you can fuck off. I never understand the motivation for booing at your own people, as if they gonna play better that way. If anything fans who do this just weaken their team even more. Thank you to the fans who were the exact opposite, who kept cheering and applauding even after the loss.

And Marcel Reif should retire, that’s the nicest thing I can say about him without getting rude so I’ll stop here.

I'm so sorry but Schuerrle didnt score. But he assisted 2 goals

SCHURLLE SCORED BTW. IT HAPPENED A FEW HOURS AGO BUT NO ONE WAS SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO YEAH. GO SCHURRLE. (And omg idek how to deal with liking a squad and not the team, I NEED ALL THE ADVICE). The thing with Bayern is that (generally) they COMPLETELY DOMINATE the Bundesliga to the point where it becomes almost boring. And the whole ethos of always winning stresses me. (pls don't kill me, I might be totally wrong with what I am saying)

*LE GASP* SCHÜ SCHÜ THE ALBINO SCORED?????? YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*ANOTHER GASP* dont talk to Bayern like that. We dominate in exciting ways pleath

MANUEL NEUER MADE GOALKEEPING FASHIONABLE AGAIN. Coming third in the Ballon d’Or reaffirmed that point. The face of the ‘new’ breed of goalkeeper, the German phenomenon is currently at the pinnacle in his position and at the relatively young age, for a goalkeeper, of 29. Under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, it doesn’t look like he’s anywhere near his peak.

With that said it’s unfair to compare all goalkeepers to Manuel Neuer. It’s fine for the goalkeepers themselves to aspire to his level in terms of reliability, brilliance and standing within in the game but something that’s often overlooked is the fact there are various goalkeeping styles. It’s not simply ‘they’re a goalkeeper, they should be like Manuel Neuer’. Believe it or not, not all clubs need a goalkeeper like Neuer, and that’s the crux of it all and that so many people seem to overlook.

Football and the game’s fans have developed dramatically in the last decade or so, with fans becoming more knowledgeable on players and their positions. There’s an understanding when it comes to viewing a player and their position. It’s this type of understanding that is still lacking when it comes to goalkeepers, however. It’s not like for like. They aren’t all the same.

Manuel Neuer gives this quixotic idea of how goalkeepers should be. Goalkeepers of similar style are becoming more predominant within the game but this super breed doesn’t mean all goalkeepers will reach that level, nor should they. It’s unrealistic to expect every left back to be on par with David Alaba and every right sided forward to be like Lionel Messi. These are exceptional talents with no equals.

There are three broad categories for goalkeepers:

Defensive Goalkeeper – The type of ‘keeper that stays in his six-yard area and is at his most confident there. A good shot stopper with great reflexes but not the best on the ball. You get the feelings it’s “you’re good at what you do so do it”. (Simon Mignolet)

Sweeper Keeper – High starting point for a goalkeeper, probably on the edge of his area and it means the team can play a high line safe in the knowledge the ‘keeper is able and confident enough to come and meet the ball outside of the area. These keepers are usually used in possession-orientated teams. (Hugo Lloris)

Possession Keeper – This is probably the upgrade to sweeper keeper. Teams don’t want their goalkeepers to just come out and clear the ball anymore. They want a little more composure and a ‘keeper that can pick a pass and start attacks. It’s almost like a Libero Goalkeeper, they bring the ball out from the back. (Manuel Neuer)

Football is always evolving, so it’s only natural players adapt with the times, but as a goalkeeper how much can you adapt? You’re primary role is shot stopping. You do whatever and use anything in your power to stop that ball crossing the line. In the past if you saved the most shots you were considered a good goalkeeper. Now if you make the most saves it’s because your defence is letting you down and you’re having to face more shots.

These days you’ve got to be able to pick a pass from 60 yards, be able to perform a rabona and save a penalty blind folded to get any recognition from some. Advances in the sport means everything evolves but like in Jurassic World if you tamper with something too much you end up causing havoc.

It’s not that basic, though. You also have to analyse the systems the teams play.
