Grover: “So, thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers.”
This quote will be living rent from in my mind from now on
I love that the show is giving Grover so much more screen time and is really diving deeper into his character. Particularly his reaction to his uncle’s death.
In the books, he was a little shocked when he first saw his statue at Medusa’s place but he quickly moved on.
In the show, he was visibly grieving and the first thing he said to Augustus was that his uncle died and he doesn’t know how to talk about it with his friends. Or rather, he doesn’t think they’d understand.
There’s just this clear divide between his perception of the world and Percy and Annabeth’s perception.
No, but, like, what do they do then? Do the other pantheon gods claim them and send an apology note and be like "Lol, sorry. They took a wrong turn"!?!?!?!?!
Do any of you ever wonder if Camp Half-Blood accidentally brought in a demigod of a different pantheon before?
This would be especially hilarious if it happens sometime after The Last Olympian/Heroes of Olympus, where the gods are required to claim their kids quickly.
A whole day passes, and the new demigod needs to sleep in the Hermes Cabin and Percy is furious. Meanwhile, the Greek Gods are pointing at each other and shouting, contacting the most obscure of mini gods. Chaos erupts on Olympus as every deity in Greek Mythology is called upon and interrogated. Hermes hasn't run around so much in centuries.
Hecate sits in silence, fully aware of what's happening, but enjoying the show too much to intervene.
Nicasia: This totally sucks, man. Cardan: This is horrible. Nicasia: Yeah, I know, I mean look at today’s news. Cardan: No, it’s not that, it’s Jude. Cardan: It’s just like, I can’t get her out of my head and every time I look at her I have this pain in my chest, and I just know it’s her fault, that wretched mortal!
So, 4 days ago, I was reading Shatter Me and I had to go to school so I crossed by tye dining table and there was this black polythene bag there. When I looked in, I was so shocked. The bag had bananas. REAL bananas. And then I remembered that yes they are real bananas because I'm not in the story I was reading. It has been so long since I have actually lost myself in the story, I loved it.
My fav parts about the pjo show so far
- sally mf jackson (no explanation needed)
- grover casually spilling i’m 24 as they race to go to camp (like grover give him a min he still thinks his dad is jesus)
- dionysus telling percy he’s his dad?? and the way percy just resigned himself to it like yup okay that adds up what else is new
- “when the time comes he’ll be ready” cut to percy doing the floss LMAO
- “are you stalking me annabeth? yes” (girl has zero chill and i’m living for it)
- “I am sally Jackson’s son” (hell yeah percy go be the momma’s boy you are)
some of y’all bout to be real mad at me. but it must be said. some of the shit u call corny/cringy is actually just genuine/cute/sweet and y’all r just afraid of expressing any type of positive emotion
Can we all see how Athena blaming Annabeth for Percy’s antics is a representation of real problems in the real world? That today's girls have it harder than boys? That daughters have it harder than sons? Girls have to try much harder to be recognized as valuable. There is a reason why there are posts like "My father is the worst man in the world - and I am his favorite daughter". There is a reason why people talk about how strict mothers are with their daughters. How they push them around, even though the son does much less. NOT WITHOUT REASON when SA is talked about is it said , "or did she not tempt him?". Not without reason. These are the realities. And I’m pretty sure Riordan is aware
Percy Jackson but Hestia has a cabin. that is where the unclaimed go because she goddess of home and family. Demigods get claimed faster because when they show up Hestia glares at her siblings, nieces and nephews untill they claim them.
idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not, because i’ve seen a lot of people say stuff like “percy knows better than to go against annabeth”
but see, most people - anyone with a brain, really - are way too scared to challenge annabeth. because 99% of the time, she’s right. she’s always the most intelligent person in the room. shes not only logical and strategic, but she’s sharp, cunning, and even manipulative if she has to be. (as we’ve seen when she’s faced monsters). no one goes against her. one wants to, no one dares.
expect percy. if there’s one thing he knows how to do, it’s argue with annabeth. it’s like breathing. but unlike when they were kids, they don’t truly fight over stupid things. sure, they bicker and squabble over little things, because that’s who they are as a couple. but percy is the only person who will actually challenge her on something real. something big. he doesn’t do it lightly, because he knows how smart she is. but if he truly believes there’s another angle to something, or that she’s wrong because maybe she doesn’t have all the information, or maybe his heart is just in a different place - he’ll go against her. we see it in mark of athena a couple times. (their face-off kinda puts hazel in a trance). in BotL, there’s an argument between them, and i remember it’s stated that watching them argue is like watching an intense tennis match. its heated and fast paced. people make fun of percy for being dumb, and yet percy is the only one that can keep up with annabeth. he knows her better than anyone. he doesn’t think the same as her, but he knows how she thinks. so yeah, he will call her out. he’ll tell her he disgrees. he’ll even tell her that she’s wrong. and people think he’s crazy when he does it.
but annabeth respects the hell out of him for it. and while she might dismiss anyone else immediately, she won’t with him. because she respects him tremendously, and knows if he’s challenging her, there’s something to it. it doesn’t mean she’s gonna let him win, or that she’s gonna back down, because they are both ridiculously stubborn and determined. but he’ll go head to head with her. he’ll have a screaming match with her. and she loves him for it. she respects him for it. and she finds it ridiculously attractive.
because percy and annabeth are equals.
"Don't worry kid, you're dad had plenty of kids he stopped helping out when he lost interest"
Theseus, who was helped by poseidon multiple times, but in the end was thrown off a cliff by the citizens of Athens and drowned. Drowned in the ocean, the very domain of his father.
Kymopoleia, who was neglected by Poseidon once he found her to be too violent, left to wander his abandoned palaces, given up as a war prize to man she didn't even want with no choice at all.
Bellerophon, who was given the pegasus to tame as a gift from Poseidon in some myths, dying by falling off of it on his way to Olympus.
I'm just saying, that line wasn't a random throwaway line by Ares, he means it.
