“GOOD AFTERNOON STUDENTS,”
you took a breath before continuing, “i hope you are all having a great friday and are excited for the weekend. before i let you off, i have a special announcement, in just a week, yongsan will be having their first valentines day festival. our very own decelis student council team will be fundraising for the ferris wheel, so please, help our council as much as you can and attend the festival with your loved ones. have a great weekend, study hard.”
you held your breath as you looked up at minji, she signed an okay before the red light in the corner shut off.
“good job yn, we’re signed off.” minji smiled and you tugged the headphones off your ears. you gathered all the papers on the desk into your hands, you let out a long sigh. the week was finally over, but the weekend was busier with the preparations of the festival.
opening the door to the central area of the broadcasting room, you smiled at all the members — thanking them. everyone was packing away their recorders and computers. seeing them leaving so early had you craving for your home, the soft sheets of your bed and the feeling of your head on your pillow.
“staying longer?” minji asked, her hand resting on your shoulder. she followed you as you placed the papers into a folder, shutting off the casting gears.
“unfortunately, i have to record some other things for the track team and for this festival.” you nodded, just hearing everything you needed to do was dreadful.
“right, the festival,” minji sang the last part of the sentence. she wiggled her brows at you mischievously.
“what?” you asked with a scrunched nose and curious eyes.
“oh i don’t know, i think you should take jungwon as your date to the fair.” she sighed dreamily. as she said his name, you looked around. although thankfully the room was partially empty and others in their own world.
“i’m pretty sure he’s busy,” you shook your head declining. you wrapped wires together, trying to look normal to minji, though your red ears and jelly legs could have been a large giveaway if observed closely.
“oh come on, just ask him. if he says no then that’s okay, at least you asked.” minji frowned. she rested her back on the table waving everyone goodbye as you did the same — thanking them for their time once again.
as the classroom emptied, the last student slipping out, you were able to comfortably talk with minji. she had a wide grin on her lips seeing you in deep thought.
yang jungwon was your longtime crush. you met him freshman year at the cat cafe you were applying for. his big round eyes and peeking dimples had you smiling at yourself. you got closer to him as time went on and school events grew closer. being on the broadcasting team, you worked almost side by side with the student council — a bonus. you never even thought of ever admitting your feelings for the boy, but as minji continued to egg you on, you might as well.
what can go wrong?
“okay, and let’s say i metaphorically agree to this, how could i even ask him out? i can’t just walk up to him and ask him to be my valentine.” you paused looking down at your sneakers. everything can go wrong.
“i knew it!” minji clapped her hands jumping up and down.
“hey wait, i never said yes — we need like a plan or something.” you placed your things into your bookbag as minji tapped her chin, thinking.
for a couple seconds it was silent in the room, just minji’s pacing on her feet and your anxious tapping fingers on your cloth bag. she was thinking for a while until she gasped, it was almost as if a light bulb went off in her head.
“you know nishimura from i think it’s like class b-2? he’s jungwon’s best friend, if we have him on board he can tell us more about jungwon and what he likes.” minji shrugged like it was that easy. you knew nishimura riki, everyone did. he was the tall, beautiful, quiet boy who excelled at almost everything. he was only close to a couple people, mostly his rugby team — that jungwon was on.
“what if he says no? then what?” again, getting worried of the entire plan. would riki tell everyone about your gigantic crush on his best friend? you’d be humiliated.
“when we get to that point we’ll see, but fingers crossed. yeah?” minji crossed her fingers with bright eyes. she grabbed her bag as well as sliding her arm across your shoulder.
chatting together through the halls, bidding goodbyes to those who stayed behind for other things — minji spoke, “hyein is gonna freak when she hears this.” the girl giggled.
oh, god.
THE RHYTHMIC SOUND OF A BOUNCING PATTERN EMITTED FROM THE GYMNASIUM.
you quietly shuffled in, hands behind your back with a box of warm cookies. hyein said it would be a good bribing method. let’s hope she’s right.
as you grew closer, you could see a uniform blazer thrown on the floor along with a bookbag in the corner. the boy’s figure stood in the middle of the gym as he dribbled the ball. his hair jumped almost animatedly, the long blonde streaks hidden in his brunette hair. he was almost suspended for dying his hair but got away with it by saying it was natural. you’ve known nishimura riki since junior high, he was always a fun person to be around. he made the room brighter when it was dark and sulum, you even caught yourself having a little crush on him — until jungwon came along.
stepping closer, riki threw the ball into the hoop, it went right in. another thing about riki was that he was gold at everything. sports, studies, and individuality.
the ball hit your feet and you reached down to grab it, placing the cookies on the floor. you looked up at riki and he looked almost surprised seeing you.
“hey,” you said, throwing the basketball at him.
“never thought i’d see you here.” the boy teased, bouncing the ball again. you walked closer — the pastries long forgotten.
for a while, there was no talking, just the expected sounds of the gymnasium. you both played together, laughs echoed through the room. almost forgetting why you were there, you called for a break. sitting on the floor, riki followed.
“i actually have a favor to ask.” you panted and you watched him rest back on his hands. sweat dripped from his forehead, he licked his lips waiting for you to go on.
“so, you know the festival for valentines right? i want to ask jungwon to go but i don’t know how, and i was just thinking because you’re his friend, you could help me.” you waited for an answer but he was still. this was a really, really bad idea.
“okay,” he shrugged, standing up. he walked over to his blazer and you silently cheered in your head. you stood up as well grabbing the box of cookies.
“i baked these last night, i thought if i was asking for something like this i should pay you.” placing the box next to his bag you backed up to the door looking down at your watch.
“i would stay but i kind of have to go, minji will kill me if she knows i’m late-“ you rambled but he cut you off.
“go ahead, thanks for these.” his lips formed a tight lipped smile and he shook the cookies.
whispering a small bye and giving him a thumbs up you quickly exited the gym. you ran across the halls with a smile, you didn’t think it’d be that easy.
STEP ONE: GET ON THE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS.
riki rested his back on the tree, the leaves rustling above his head — falling every once in a while. he tapped away on his phone, popping chips into his mouth. you both sat together for lunch, a notebook in your hand scribbling down whatever riki said.
“are you going to be on the volunteer team?” you asked him without looking, tilting your head while writing.
riki stopped playing his game, he looked up. his eyes focused on the way your hair moved slightly in the wind and the way you bit your lip, concentrating.
“uh, not really sure, maybe?” he shrugged. he would’ve never thought to ever join things like that, but as you asked him, he really considered it.
“you should. i’ll have someone i know if i blow things with jungwon.” you chuckled looking at the sky. it seemed a bit weird to think of riki as a friend. you both didn’t know much about each other, except for your crush on his best friend.
“i think i’m free,” the boy muttered, he shut off his phone putting the bag of chips in his lap.
“good!” smiling at him, you went back to the notebook. your hands wrote quickly. riki also smiled, bigger this time. he didn’t know what it was or how to explain it but, with you, he felt normal — childish.
“okay, so, i have like three steps so far,” you turned the book to him. bright letters covered the page with three steps.
‘STEP ONE: GET ON THE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS.
ft .. nishimura riki! :D
STEP TWO: ASK HIM ON A” FRIENDLY” (pre-date) DATE
note — he likes outdoor activities!
STEP THREE: ASK HIM TO BE YOUR VALENTINE TO THE FESTIVAL.
note — hardest step of them all :P’
“i think this sums up our plan, yeah?” you asked riki, he said nothing but let out a little laugh.
“hey! why are you laughing? did i misspell something?” turning the notebook to yourself you scanned the page. riki shook his head snickering louder.
“nah, just think it’s cute.” the boy stood up at the bell of the lunch period, he ruffled your hair grabbing your backpack.
“wait for me,” with a wide grin you caught up to riki shoving his shoulder playfully. nothing would compare to a moment so innocent and sweet, not even a quick interaction with yang jungwon.
YOU WERE AT THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE WITH RIKI BY YOUR SIDE, AWKWARDLY.
“do we just help with anything?” whispering to riki, he only shrugged. his eyes were moving quickly over the crowd, trying to find his best friend.
“jungwon hyung!” riki yelled, raising his hand to gesture jungwon over. the cat boy jogged over with a smile, a clipboard in hand.
“i didn’t expect to see you here, nishimura,” jungwon teased, he waved at you patting your shoulder.
“hyein is actually working on some banners over by the game booths. if you want to help, riki you can work with me.” jungwon motioned to hyein, hyein was wrapped in a banner flapping around under it.
“okay, see you then,” running towards hyein, you helped her from under the large tarp. when she saw you, she started giggling and you did too. her red cheeks of embarrassment and messed up hair made you laugh harder.
riki, on the other hand, couldn’t take his eyes off you.
“got a thing for her?” jungwon asked, beginning to walk towards the ferris wheel. riki followed behind, eyes continuing to stay on your figure.
“what? n-no, not really.” the boy blinked multiple times, occupying himself by looking at the ferris wheel.
“you two look pretty close already.”
if only your friendship wasn’t based on you getting a date with one of his closest friends.
“so, how’s pretty boy?” hyein teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
“jungwon?” you stopped everything. you realized you hadn’t even spoken to jungwon, mind too occupied with riki.
“no, riki of course.” she said sarcastically with a scoff. she began to climb the ladder as you held it down.
“oh, i mean i haven’t really spoken to jungwon. i haven’t had the chance, maybe later tonight.” you shrugged looking at jungwon and riki. riki was helping jungwon lift things around, he looked so pleased to help out a friend.
“i don’t know, i kind of see you with riki.” hyein stated causing you to look up at her as if she grew three heads.
“what?! no way, we’re just friends. i think?” a friendship was never established so you weren’t really sure if you could call him a friend, maybe more of an acquaintance.
“alright but look, minji and i made a bet that i can’t disclose but if you end up with riki, i win a hundred bucks.” the girl walked past you leaving you utterly dumbfounded. you were stoned in place, were you going after the wrong boy? hell no, jungwon is the boy. right?
“hey yn!” a voice startled you from behind. their hand going to your arm to pull you from your trance.
“hm? oh, huening, hi.” you greeted him with a smile. his messy brown hair covered most of his eyes but you could see them creasing up with a wide grin.
“jungwon asked if you could help him set up the mic on the stage?” huening kai pointed to the stage where jungwon stood. his brows furrowed together with a frustrated look.
“okay, thanks kai.” you shuffled back on your feet still looking at the boy. why is riki still in your head? this is about yang jungwon.
jumping up onto the stage, your hands began to nervously play with the end of your uniform skirt. this was the first one on one conversation with him.
“hey, you need me?” jungwon spun around quickly, his red hair skipped upwards and he nodded.
“i assume you know how to do this since you’re on the broadcasting club.” jungwon chuckled, embarrassed.
without another word, you began to work on setting up the mic trying to hide away from the boy’s gaze. he was practically burning holes into the side of your face.
“i think this is good, if you need to lower it just shift this down and if you want to take the mic out, slide it forward.” he muttered an okay followed by a thank you. his eyes were large, sparkly almost. you could lose yourself in them with just one glance. his dimples made an appearance and if you could, you’d poke them all day.
as you were walking away with your eyes still on jungwon’s face, you tripped on the mic wire. the end of the stage looked clearer now as you were falling quickly to your face. with your hands out ready to somewhat catch you, a hand slipped over your waist, holding you tightly.
their hot breath rose the hairs on your neck and your ears were becoming hot peppers, they were a red that was definitely not normal.
“are you okay?” it was jungwon. his concerned words replayed in your mind at a thousand miles per hour.
holy shit, it’s yang jungwon.
“yeah, yeah, i’m fine. thanks!” you unlatched his arm from your waist, running off to find hyein.
what you hadn’t seen was riki was just a step away, his box of ribbon thrown on the floor. he dropped everything for you.
THE COLD BREEZE BRUSHED YOUR HAIR FORWARD AND YOUR LEGS SHOOK.
but that didn’t matter, riki just told you that jungwon agreed to go on the “date” with you.
“pinch me right now.” you told riki giving him your arm and shutting your eyes. his fingers pinched you harshly through his uniform blazer that covered you.
“ow! i didn’t mean that hard, jeez.” you rubbed your arm and riki laughed. you were both walking home together, the moon shone so vividly like it was congratulating you.
“i can’t believe it, are you lying to me nishimura?” you pointed a threatening finger at him with questioning eyes.
“why would i lie?” he asked, mundane. his mind was a bit cloudy. he wished he was lying, he wished you wouldn’t take action with your heart. if only you knew the secret jungwon held.
walking in silence, you had your head down looking at your sneakers with a cheek aching smile. a warm fuzzy feeling swallowed your stomach whole. it was nauseating but you asked if it could last forever.
opening the gate to your home, you turned to riki, “thanks nishimura, i owe you.” waving goodbye to him you ran up your stairs and to your door.
riki nodded, to no one in particular but the frown on his lips were seen from a mile away.
“oh wait! your blazer!” you shouted at the boy.
“keep it, it looks better on you.” he shook his head, and you smiled harder, yelling goodnight.
riki fell asleep that night with a bitter taste in his mouth. he wished he could pinpoint the feeling however it only left him with more questions. it’s not like he liked you, well that’s what he kept telling himself.
standing in front of the bike rack, you held a picnic basket in front of you. the sun was hot against your skin and everyone was out with their own people. you had gotten up early in the morning to get ready for the date. you even had it in your calendar. step two is complete!
“yn! sorry, did i keep you waiting?” jungwon called from behind, he looked better in casual attire than in his uniform.
“not at all, i just got here actually.” you lied, you’ve been standing there for thirty minutes checking your watch.
“good, i have a place.” he smiled, taking the basket from your hand. as a duo, you both began to walk alongside one another talking aimlessly. getting closer to the place, it was quiet. a small pond and patches of grass all over with trees making shade.
“i come here often with my dog.” jungwon sits down, placing the basket in front of him.
“i hope you like fruit sandwiches, they were a bit difficult to make.” you laughed as he handed you one. jungwon cracked a smile.
“i bet they’re great,” he breathed out, taking a bite of the strawberry treat.
for a while it was a subtle conversation. getting to know one other more. during school it was just about extracurricular activities or what you thought about the lesson. nothing personal, maybe it was better that way.
“so, when did you and nishimura become friends?” he questioned wiping his lip.
“oh, just recently. i found him in the gym playing basketball and we kind of just started talking from there.” remembering the interaction from a week before, you subconsciously grinned.
“i think he likes you,” jungwon blurted. you stopped from taking another bite into the sandwich. your forehead creased with wonder.
“i mean, i know my best friend and i’ve never seen him smile so much around someone.” the boy continued without seeing your face. you were astonished. no way, maybe jungwon misunderstood. there was no way.
“oh right! i actually wanted to ask you something,” jungwon placed his sandwich down, fetching his phone from his pocket. “what do you think about this gift for my girlfriend?”
everything froze. it felt like multiple punches were thrown at your stomach, one after another. girlfriend? since when did he have a girlfriend? and if he did, why are you here? the cream from the pastry became too sweet, almost disgusting.
“i actually haven’t told anyone about her, except riki, and obviously you.” and one really hard slap to the face. riki knew? and he didn’t think to tell you?
“uhm, the pink one is fine,” you mumbled. this was betrayal, downright betrayal. was he trying to humiliate you? was this what you owed him, humiliation?
“actually jungwon, i’m not feeling too well. i think i should get going.” he looked up from his phone, you began to stand up, possibly to run the hell out of there.
he stood up as well, “do you want me to take you home? are you alright? you look pale,” god why did he have to be so caring.
“no, no, please stay. enjoy the rest of the food.” you tried to smile but the growing hotness of your eyes made it impossible.
turning around, you sped off. your feet moving far too quickly for your brain to process. you pulled your phone out, clicking on riki’s contact.
[ TO: NISHIMURA! ]
why didn’t you tell me jungwon had a girlfriend? i just humiliated myself by going on a date with him.
you shut your phone off, walking along the riverside. the small currents crashed together.
ding!
[ FROM: NISHIMURA! ]
you were excited about the date, i couldn’t tell you.
[ TO: NISHIMURA! ]
so you let me go on a date with him? to embarrass myself? i thought we were friends riki.
for the entire night, you kept your phone far away from you. it was one thing to read the messages, but it was another to think about jungwon.
friends aren’t supposed to let each other down.
YOU SWEPT THE CAFETERIA SILENTLY, HUENING KAI RIGHT BESIDE YOU.
“how much do you want?” he asked, sitting down on one of the chairs. his broom sat beside him, he was a horrible duty partner.
“just ask her yourself, i’m not in the mood.” the boy was asking if you could ask minji out to be his valentine to the festival. this was not what you wanted after a ruthless weekend. minji and hyein could only sigh seeing you starfished out on your floor with a frown.
it was the day before the festival and love hanging in the air. you hadn’t spoken to riki after the incident, thinking it was best if you didn’t. sure you felt bad for yelling at him over text, but you would’ve been over the whole jungwon-girlfriend thing by now if he told you prior.
you dragged the broom along the floor, trash littered everywhere and huening kai’s annoying voice in the back.
“please, please, please!”
throwing your head back with a groan, you agreed.
“but ask her out with like flowers or something, i’m not asking her empty handed.” you shrugged taking a seat beside him. he began to go through his wallet to pay you.
“i thought we were the only ones with an agreement,” a familiar voice spoke from in front of you, the person you dreaded to see.
“oh would you look at the time, i’m busy!” huening kai jumped up and before you could drag him back down, he slipped through your fingers.
riki sighed, he took kai’s place. his shoulder brushed yours and your eyes were glued onto your sneakers. riki looked at you. he missed you, those two days were longer than ever.
“i wanted to say i’m sorry. i should’ve told you, but seeing you so happy, i didn’t want to ruin anything. i also thought jungwon was joking about the girlfriend thing, but i guess not.” his hands clenched his sweater into a ball. his foot bounced up and down nervously.
you stayed quiet for a moment. it wasn’t his fault, it wasn’t jungwon’s either. it was nobodies really. that’s just the way things work, you move on.
“it’s okay nishimura, it wasn’t your fault. i shouldn’t have acted the way i did.” you smiled at him, forgiving him. it felt better than being mad at him. it was like a burden weighing down on your shoulders.
“i’m glad we’re friends again.” he added. to you, it felt a bit odd to call him a friend. you felt a bit of a spark with him. you didn’t feel so nervous around him like you did with jungwon. you seeked him out in crowds, instead of jungwon. if you didn’t like jungwon anymore, who was your next candidate?
“wanna go to the festival together? i bought tickets before the whole fiasco.” you chuckled, plucking them from your pocket. you gave one to him as he nodded also with a smile.
“good, i’ll see you there then?i have to finish cleaning up the cafeteria, now that huening left.” you rolled your eyes.
“let me help you, it’s the least i can do.” riki grabbed the other broom.
throughout the duty period there wasn’t much cleaning just you and riki messing around playing with the sticks. his laugh was something you could hear for years and he would say the same.
hyein and minji were around the corner with peeking heads and hyein smirked at minji, “i win.” she whispered.
“HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!”
hyein jumped at you, she had cotton candy in her hand. the festival was a success, everyone was having fun with their loved ones. it smelt of sweetness and passion.
you walked through the gates handing your ticket to a booth, jungwon stood inside.
“oh hey! are you feeling better?” he asked, placing your ticket in a box.
“yeah, i think i just had to much sugar, sorry for leaving you. did you get her the pink one?” you cupped your mouth whispering to him.
he smiled nodding. “she loved it,”
smiling as well, you left the booth to meet hyein. she grouped with minji and huening kai. the couple holding hands and minji had a bouquet in her hands. riki nowhere in sight.
“have you guys seen riki?” you asked, glancing around the crowd. did he ditch you?
“i saw him by the ferris wheel.” huening kai pointed to the long line of familiar faces.
“thanks,” you ran over dodging running kids and wandering groups. the ferris wheel was the main event and the heart lights lit up the entire festival.
riki was in line, he was also looking around for you. he was flapping a letter against his hands.
“nishimura!” you called and he waved you over.
“did you get my text? i told you to meet me here.” riki asked, pointing to his phone.
“oh, no i didn’t,” taking your phone out, you looked at the message he sent you.
[ FROM: NISHIMURA! :P ]
meet me at the ferris wheel! i’ll save us a spot :D
you chuckled lowly, looking up at riki. he had a light blush running over his cheeks. he looked away but you still teased him.
“i’m rubbing off on you,” you poked his shoulder. you glanced at the envelope in his hand.
“what’s that?”
riki hid it under his coat, telling you it was for later. you shook your head and the instructor called you next for the ride. riki’s hand rested on the lower part of your back, guiding you.
oh no, what’s this feeling? it was exactly like the feeling you got when you first met jungwon. confused, light, giddy. everything started to make sense. you like nishimura riki, yang jungwon’s best friend.
the sky was colored in a pink and purple hue, an exact replica of your heart. sitting so close to him on the ride made your brain start jumping jacks out of your head.
“this is for you,” he gave you the envelope. it was red and had a single heart on the front with your initial.
“what is it?” your tongue was numb. your fingers shook, this is what having a real crush was like.
“just open it.” he looked away and when you both reached the top of the ride, you heart almost leaped out of your chest.
you opened it, there was a letter, and it read —
Dear Yn,
happy valentines day! i hope you’re reading this, if not, i didn’t have the guts to give you this. but if you are, here goes nothing. i am in love with you. i have loved you since junior high when i first met you on the soccer field after hitting you with a soccer ball and having to carry you to the infirmary. i promised not to hurt you again, physically and emotionally, ( you said you hated me ). i realized after we became closer and you had a plan to date jungwon, that i needed to shoot my shot before i lost you forever. so, this is me shooting my shot. can i be your boyfriend?
Love,
Nishimura Riki.
the huge beam on your lips could easily tear your lips apart. you could feel your senses again, everything fit like a puzzle piece. you were in fact deeply in love with him.
you turned to riki who still had his head to the side. you leaned forward placing a kiss on his cheek.
“i would love it if you were my boyfriend.”
the boy looked at you with big eyes, his lips were parted in shock but they soon curved up into a smile. his hands held your face and he inched closer leaving a peck on your lips.
“happy valentines day, i guess your plan didn’t work.” he teased leaving another kiss, this one longer.
“that’s okay.”
“does this mean i’m your valentine?” riki moved your hair from your face and the ride was coming to an end.
“be my valentine nishimura riki.”

[10:46pm] jay x afab reader
"stop fucking bending over, the whole party can see your panties," jay spat, pressing himself up behind you to protect your modesty.
you rolled your eyes at his protective tone, he had always been like this growing up. you were jake's sister, only a few months younger than jay himself. you'd spent all these years together, but only recently had you noticed just how protective over you he was.
tonight was no exception. jake had thrown a party since your parents were away, and of course jay was there. you'd dressed up pretty, albeit your skirt was uncomfortably short but you were not about to go and pick out a whole new outfit so you just went along with it, tugging the material down over your ass hoping no one would notice.
but they did, and jay noticed them noticing you.
"get off me," you whined, shaking him away as you stood up straight, a can of beer in your hand from the cooler you were digging in. "stop acting like you own me, jay."
"i'm not, but someone has to stop your from acting like a whore all night," his mouth pressed into a sharp frown whilst he stared you down. you stood in front of him, feeling small under his gaze.
"a whore yeah? I'll show you a fucking whor-"
jay cut you off, pressing a palm over your mouth to stop you running on. you protested against his hand but he stayed put until you stopped, rolling his eyes a little. after a minute or two he pulled away, wiping his hand on his jeans.
"are you done now?" he asked, one eyebrow raised at you. you huffed out in annoyance but nodded nevertheless.
jay smiled slightly, glancing around the crowded living room quickly before leaning in and pressing a quick kiss to your lips. you barely had time to process it before you were tugging him forward and kissing him back with fever.
he groaned into the kiss, leaning into you and pressing you against the wall behind where you were stood. his hips pinned against yours, causing a gasp to leave your lips for long enough that jay could slip his tongue into your mouth.
you'd be lying if you said you hadn't thought about this before, imagining how jay would taste when you were along at night. not only had he grown more protective over the years, he'd also grown more attractive, and you could now fully see the man he'd grown up to be.
"y/n," he breathed as he pulled back, "we can't do this."
it was your turn to roll your eyes now, holding his jacket tight as you kept his body flush against yours before rolling your hips up gently. jay crumbled, letting his body go pliant against your touch. you could feel how hard he was through his jeans, maybe that skirt was a good idea.
"why not jay," you said quietly, pressing a soft kiss on to his neck, moving down to his collarbones. "what's stopping us?"
"your brother-" he whined when you bit down gently, soothing the spot with your tongue. jay pulled his head up a bit to look at you, glancing down at your glossy and red lips.
he dipped his own head down to your neck, returning the favour by pressing a few open mouthed kisses to the sensitive skin there. you begged him to just bite down, leave a mark, but you knew he wouldn't.
"jake doesn't have to know," you whispered into his ear. "it's our little secret, yeah?"
fuck it, jay was a weak man when it came to you. he tugged you up the stairs to your room, praying on his life that jake would never find out.

meanwhile, it was your fourth. so how you became roommates with him? one, tragic answer: you were broke and desperate for someone to split rent with.
sunghoon wasn’t a bad person. he did little things like pick up your forgotten mail, or turn on your coffee machine while you got ready in the bathroom. though, you'd still say he ranked number one on your list of the worst roommates you’ve ever had.
he was lazy, irresponsible, and oh so messy. 80% of the time, while you were busy being productive and studying, he was busy tackling people with a ball under his arm or in the middle of coaxing some girl to come home with him after partying all night (which didn’t take much effort on his part considering that face of his).
now, you weren’t a hater. sunghoon got into this university with his talent for football alone—so props to him for.. catching balls. honestly, if he wasn’t the way he was, you’d probably fall for his handsome charms yourself. but when his annoying, mosquito-like presence decided to intervene with the peaceful sanctuary that was once your neat and homely apartment, all wrath was destined to come out of you at some point.
for a while, you were nice enough to clean up after the younger boy, making pathetic excuses for him in your head in an effort to be a kind, forgiving roomate.
but after a month of dealing with his unwashed plates left on the counter, clothes scattered around the living room from not only him, but also the girls he brings over, and all in all his untidiness everyday, you’ve finally snapped.
this feeling of undeniable rage may partially be because of how stressed you are from all the new assignments and lack of coffee, but you’ve never felt more ready for confrontation by the time you’ve reached sunghoon’s bedroom door.
you offer two passive aggressive knocks, not even waiting for a reply before yanking the door open. “look sunghoon— we have to talk.”
nobody.
you take a few cautious steps inside his disarrayed bedroom, nose wrinkling at the sight of a mountain of clothes near his bed despite a closet being a few steps over. there’s random magazines and papers scattered across the floor, along with an unkempt stash of trinkets thrown on top of his drawer. you glance at his closet, half opened and containing only about two jackets actually hung up on racks.
“woah, never thought i’d find the campus nun snooping around my bedroom.” you whip your head around to find a shirtless sunghoon staring down at you, toothbrush perkily sticking out of his mouth. his muscled biceps flex as he crosses his arms, raising a curious brow at the sock pinched between your nails.
your eyes bulge at the sight of his bare, sculpted torso, turning around with a tint of red rushing to your ears. “just because i don’t spend every night getting wasted doesn’t make me a nun, nor was i snooping,” you spit defensively.
sunghoon chuckles, padding across his room to pick up a random top off his shirt mountain. “says the girl who just covered her eyes like she’s never seen a shirtless guy before.” he smirks, glancing down at your childish bear printed pajamas. “i mean— not that i think you have.”
you spin back around, huffing in relief now that he was dressed and pointing to the sock in your hand. “shut up, i’m only here to listen to your amazing explanation on why i keep finding socks and other assortments of your clothing all over the living— hey! don’t walk away when i’m talking to you!”
you frustratedly discard the sock somewhere on his bed, following your roommate back out to where he’s now rummaging through the kitchen pantry, toothbrush long forgotten on the sink’s rim. you take another deep breath, trying to stay calm. “sunghoon,” you begin.
“yeah, pretty girl?” your eye twitches in disbelief, hating the way butterflies flutter through your stomach from the nickname he’s always called you.
“i told you, don’t fucking call me that. now listen here,” you try to look stern, but sunghoon personally thinks you look adorable. “i’ve been dealing with your bullshit all month without a single complaint,” you rant, watching as he pulls out a box of cinnamon toast crunch. “do you ever wonder how all those plates and bowls you leave in the sink magically disappear? yeah, well, that was me slaving my ass away like your personal housemaid!”
sunghoon is completely unphased by your vent, too busy pouring his cereal into an empty bowl with a shrug. “nobody told you to clean those for me.”
moments like these made you question how you’ve dealt with the boy for a whole month.
“if i don’t, they begin piling up into a jenga tower,” you fire back with a scoff, “similar to the wonderful sorting technique used in your bedroom.”
unbelievably, the boy giggles at that, taking a seat at the counter with his late night snack. “y’know, you’re pretty funny when you’re not locked up in your room all day.” your jaw tightens, snatching the milk away right as your roomate reaches out for it. he looks at you as if you just committed a crime, lips turning into a defeated (but adorable) pout. “hey, i’m trying to have cereal here.”
“sunghoon,” you snarl once more, holding the carton above his head like a parent would with a child’s toy.
“what?” he whines.
“if you don’t start doing shit around here, i’m kicking you out.”
instead of a dramatic gasp or begs for mercy and forgiveness like you’d hoped for, he snickers, pouncing up like a cat and snatching the milk back outof your grip. “yeah, right. as if you could afford this apartment by yourself.”
silence (besides the sound of sunghoon chewing his cinnamon toast crunch).
out of the corner of his eye, sunghoon sees your face drop in utter defeat. you look close to the verge of tears, knuckles turning white by your sides. yes, he may be a jerk sometimes, but he wasn’t that evil. his eyes softened slightly, letting out a thoughtful sigh as he munched on his spoonful of cereal.
suddenly, a lightbulb appears atop his head, smirking brilliantly. “okay, being the handsome genius i am, i’ve come up with an offer— a compromise, you could say.”
you didn’t know your roommate that well considering it’s only been a month since you’ve met, but you were confident that any ideas his pea-sized brain came up with weren’t going to be very good ones in your favor. you offer him a raise of your brow, gesturing for him to continue.
dropping his silver spoon back into the bowl, sunghoon rests his elbows up on the counter. “in exchange for ‘doing shit around here’, you have to be my girlfriend.”
you choke on your saliva, giving him a dumbfounded expression. “what!?”
“hear me out!” he quickly defends, “my parents are planning to set me up with this weird, artsy church girl, and i just can’t allow that to happen for my reputation sake. you’re my only hope, pretty.”
“first of all, you were basically calling me a nerd a few minutes ago, so i don’t see how i’d be any better than her. and what exactly would i have to do as your fake girlfriend— if i metaphorically took you up on this deal?”
sunghoon ignores the first half of your statement with no explanation. “well, probably have dinner with my family every once in a while, hold my hand, kiss me-“
you stumble slightly. “woah, woah- what?! why would we kiss in front of your parents?” you inquire stressfully, the thought of kissing sunghoon making your heart beat much faster than it should.
though honestly, this compromise sounded like a win-win in your book. finally, no more socks found on the couch or plate mountains in your sink, and getting to fake date park sunghoon along the way? you make sure not to give in just yet, as you don’t need the boy’s ego skyrocketing any higher than it was, but you were feeling pretty great.
“to prove we’re serious, duh.” sunghoon rolls his eyes at your question, suddenly turning in the barstool to face you. “c’mon, let’s practise now.”
huh? wait, practise what?
does he mean—
you step away from the counter nervously, only to be pulled back by sunghoon’s grip on your wrist. he has a barely noticeable, smug smirk on his face at your sudden nervousness, grasping your hand tightly in his bigger one. “hey, i never said yes to the deal yet,” you gulp.
taking a leap of faith, sunghoon leans further in, his pointy nose touching yours. his breath tickles your lips, and you hate the way his closeness affects you. now you understand why no girl on campus could resist him; it was impossible.
“why not, pretty girl? are you scared of having to kiss me? is that why you don’t want to say yes?” he teases, reaching his free hand up to softly run a thumb along your plush lips. for some reason, you don’t move away from his surprisingly gentle touch.
“n-no. i’m not scared of you, sunghoon.”
his smirk deepens in pure amusement. “then kiss me,” he encourages, calmly waiting for you to make the first move.
you take one last look at him. his slightly disheveled hair, the moles scattered perfectly along his features even more delicate up close. down to his curved nose, rubbing against the tip of yours affectionately. and lastly, his enchanting pink lips, just begging to be kissed by you.
so you do. before you can stop yourself, you’re kissing park sunghoon. the boy you were just scolding for his constant messes. the boy who was known and loved by your whole college, his reputation lying at the highest amongst everyone’s standards.
but it didn’t matter, in that moment, he was just sunghoon, your lazy, ridiculously hot roommate.
sunghoon finally frees your wrist, allowing you to reach up and rest your arms around his shoulders. to no surprise, he’s definitely the best kiss you’ve ever had, full of experience and confidence. the taste of cinnamon toast crunch runs through your senses, only furthering as he runs a tongue along your bottom lip, begging for entrance.
feeling playful, you refuse, making sunghoon grunt in annoyance. he pulls away for a second to glare at you. “that’s how you wanna be, huh? let me show you who’s in charge around here, then.”
before you can ponder on what that meant, his lips are back on yours more fierce than ever, standing up from his seat to force you right against the counter.
as you try to get comfortable in the new position, he harshly pinches your side. in a moment of surprise at his attack, you gasp, lips parting and giving sunghoon the perfect opportunity to force his tongue right into your mouth and explore every crevice of you.
it’s hard to keep up with sunghoon, he was much too intense for you. so you gently push him away, catching your breath hastily. when you finally look up at him, his lips are swollen, slightly wet and chapped.
it seems he understands that you want to stop here, so he moves back, giving you some space. “i.. i came here to scold you about your socks. how did this happen?” you ask to mostly yourself.
“my charms are irresistible.” sunghoon lets out a laugh, walking backwards towards his bedroom. “so, starting tomorrow you’re my girlfriend, okay pretty girl?”
still trying to calm your racing heart, you offer a small, defeated glance to your roommate. “yeah, whatever, pretty boy.” he smiles brightly at his newly earned nickname, turning around before closing his bedroom door for the night.
with a sigh, you glance back around only to find sunghoon’s half eaten bowl of cinnamon toast crunch, soggy and abandoned on the counter.
this deal wasn’t going to change anything, was it?

genre: fluff, high school au, implied enemies to lovers, bad boy x good girl, reader and niki are in detention, content warning: a little profanity
“I hope you’re enjoying this as much as I am.” Niki teases, flicking a small paper ball at your back from his seat behind you, there were plenty of other desks available and the fact that he chose to sit so close to you made your blood boil.
You clench your jaw in annoyance at his childish antics, the sound of his voice only aggravating you further, you shut your eyes for a quick moment to compose yourself before turning around in your chair to face him. You were class president after all, you had to maintain your diplomatic reputation, “What is your problem with me?”
Niki leans forward in his chair, hands shoved in the pockets of his black slacks, “That’s funny, I was just about to ask the same thing.”
Your mind temporarily focuses on the fact that he’s closer in proximity now, not too close but close enough you could smell the musky scent of cologne wafting from his lean figure. You quickly snap back to reality when Niki chuckles at your lack of response, the little moment clearly giving him an ego boost.
You turn back around with a roll of your eyes, not wanting to give him anymore satisfaction,“I’m pretty sure you’re the reason I got detention.”
Niki scoffs in disbelief. “More like you’re the reason I got detention, you snitch.” He retorts.
Your mouth falls open at his insult, going against your better judgement you quickly whip back around to face him once again, eyes narrowing at the brunet boy, “I’m not a snitch! If you weren’t vandalizing school property like the delinquent you are we wouldn’t be stuck here!”
Niki’s eyes are narrowed back at you, hands still remain in his pockets though this time he’s leaned back in his chair. “You’re the psycho that attacked me! If you would’ve just let me run away like any other normal person we wouldn’t be stuck here!” He uses your own words against you and you swear no one has ever gotten under your skin quite like Riki Nishimura.
“Not only is vandalism against school policy, it’s also against the law, you lowlife criminal.”
“Well,” Niki begins sarcastically with a dramatic roll of his eyes, “Lock me up and throw away the key.”
“I hate you.”
“Yeah, take a number and get in line.”
Eventually thirty agonizing minutes passed by without another word from you or Niki, there was only ten minutes left of detention now and you had planned on spending the remainder of it finishing your game of Tetris on your old flip phone you snuck in prior to detention since the principal had taken away your smartphones.
You had gotten so immersed in your game you were oblivious to the boy behind you beginning to stir awake, he might’ve stayed in his deep slumber if it wasn’t for the harsh clicks of your fingers against the buttons of the phone and your whispered curses anytime you didn’t land a block exactly the way you intended but nonetheless nothing seemed to be going your way since you met Niki.
“I thought you were supposed to be a goody two-shoes.” He rests his chin on top of your head, larger frame towering over yours. His deep voice is slightly raspy from his previous nap making it all the more attractive and it causes a shiver to go down your spine.
You’re not sure what to say being caught red handed by none other than the devil himself, you knew he would never let you live this down. So you opt for swiftly attempting to shove the phone into the desk, but his nimble fingers snatch it.
“Hey, give it back!” You simultaneously jump out from your seat as Niki does.
He laughs, holding the phone away from your reach as you attempt to get it back, grabbing onto his arms though it does nothing, he’s able to easily overpower you by simply breaking free from your grip.
“Sneaking a phone into detention?” He tsks at you, “That’s against school rules. Looks like you’re a total hypocrite, miss president.”
“Why do you always have to be such an asshole?!” You huff, shoving his broad shoulders which barely had any effect on the boy as he continues to laugh but you won’t give up so easily.
Before Niki knows it, you pounce on him, causing you both to tumble down on the ground.
Much to your dismay you land right on top of him, your palms harshly smacking onto the wooden floor on either side of his head, your outstretched arms thankfully stopping your face from crashing directly into his, preventing what would’ve been a very awkward kiss.
You know you should get up and pretend nothing happened, you know it’s wrong to be staying in this position with him longer than necessary but for some reason you can’t bring yourself to pull away from him.
The way he’s looking at you right now has you in a daze, the constellations of tiny moles scattered across his face and neck takes you to outer space, his dark eyes like black holes, drawing you in with great force and you can’t escape. The multiple small silver hoops that adorned his ears like planetary rings, and the way his flawless ivory skin glowed like the pale moonlight is enough to have you feeling like a supernova just exploded inside your chest.
Despite the throbbing pain in the back of his head Niki smirks up at you, “You little pervert. Was this your agenda all along?”
Of course he had to say something stupid to ruin the moment and even though you should feel relieved a small part of you can’t help but also feel slightly disappointed.
You scoff at his accusation, “Fuck off, Nishimura.” Using his shoulder as leverage for pushing yourself off him, “I wouldn’t kiss you if you were the last man on earth-“ Your little rant is cut short when Niki suddenly lifts himself up, his long slender fingers wrapping around the wrist of your hand that once held his shoulder, tugging it towards his chest, his grip rough but gentle while forcing you closer to him.
“Go ahead,” The tip of his nose caresses yours, his plump lips lingering millimeters from your own, his thigh trapped between your knees as you kneel so you’re just barely hovering above him, “What were you saying?”
You’re absolutely mortified by the position you’ve let yourself be put in by Niki and even more ashamed at the warm sensation that runs through your entire body.
It’s wrong and yet the way his other hand is resting on your waist feels right.
He chuckles at your silence, before finally letting you go allowing you both to break apart and stand up. “Detention should be over by now.” You say, clearing your throat, hands straightening out the black fabric of your skirt, deciding to ignore the whole ordeal that just unfolded between you and Niki.
However, Niki seems to disagree with your decision, eyes scanning you up and down, a smirk still plastered on his face as he watches you adjust your school uniform, knowing it’s just nervous fiddling.
“Jake’s throwing a party friday night, you should come.” He offers, his intense gaze unwavering.
You avoid his eyes, but still manage to speak confidently, “I don’t go to parties.”
“Because you don’t get invited?” He teases once more, knowing exactly how to push your buttons.
You stomp your foot, giving the boy a pointed look as you meet his gaze.
He lazily raises his hands up in surrender, his silver chain bracelets clinking together on his wrist as he lets out a light laugh and you hate the way you chuckle along with him.
“You don’t get detention either but that didn’t turn out so bad, did it?”
“Says who?” You retort, crossing your arms over your chest, an eyebrow raised in question.
“Just think about it.” Niki shrugs before grabbing his backpack from his desk, flinging it over his shoulder, and leaving you alone in the classroom for your own thoughts to consume you.
This was only your second encounter with Riki Nishimura and as much as you hoped it would be your last you couldn’t shake the inevitable feeling that this was just the beginning.

❝ what do you have for lunch today? ❞
heeseung | jay | jake | SUNGHOON | sunoo | jungwon | ni-ki
alexa play 0x1=lovesong
in your head, he’s the love interest with 0 interest in you🥲😢😢😢😢
it’s bc he’s so DAMN famous in your school
yes he’s your classmate .. ltrly in the same room but u cannot make conversation with him
he sleeps in class when he can like he will be DOZED OFF !!!!
nobody rly approaches the pretty boy
you’ve heard he’s rejected a handful of people before
you wont make a move for sure
so why does Park Sunghoon drag his seat so he’s sitting adjacent of you
why is he pulling out his lunch box and putting it on ur little table
WHY IS HE EATING WITH YOU
you don’t say anything when he does it
and he doesn’t say anything either
honestlyyyy…. it’s a little awkward like wtf is happening rn this is a Simulation
BUT you’re eating lunch together
and guess what
it becomes a constant thing too 😭
like he’d just silently drag his seat and you know he’s on his way to your table to eat lunch
is it because you’re one of the few people who eat in the room instead of the canteen??
tbh WHO CARES
unattainable campus crush park sunghoon is in front of you and eating lunch with you for some reason
it makes ur heart go crazy becos !!???!!!
he doesn’t rly acknowledge anyone
it’s bc he’s always busy being exempted for some competition
he finally starts talking to you when he sees you watching a yuzuru hanyu video during one of your little lunch sessions
tbh it was just a small video on tiktok that u scrolled by and returned to bc wow that spin was so cool
it’s when he starts making convo that u find out he’s actually SO funny and so unhinged
he’ll start laughing to himself 😕😕
also will tell the most UNFUNNY dad jokes
you only laugh because his laugh is so loud and so unrestrained
tho you do tell him his jokes are horrible
and he makes everyday a mission to tell you a joke that’ll genuinely make you laugh
it becomes your thing
he’ll just randomly show up in front of u and start cracking the most terrible joke
“rip boiling water. you will be mist!”
cue his laughter
you: 😐😐😐 not funny didn’t laugh
then sunghoon becomes more of a friend… not some unattainable crush figure !!! a friend !!!
some of his favorite things to do with you are watching videos during lunch AND sharing earphones while you listen to music
your fyp on tiktok now is both of ur shared interests
you even have a folder on each of ur phones for tiktoks u wanna share to each other that u pass by when u aren’t together
no he doesn’t send u the link like a normal person
sunghoon waits until class to show u so he can see ur reaction face to face
and the whole listening to music ??? u’ll just be seated side by side and staring into the distance sometimes
spacing out is wonderful <3
so now instead of sleeping .. he’ll just offer u an earbud so you can put it in your ear and listen to him
has a secret playlist for u (u don’t know this)
the photo for the playlist is the only photo u have together btw
it was when u were checking ur face on ur front cam and he just suddenly appeared in the back with a peace sign
it’s adorable
he bugged u to airdrop the photo 9284 times that day bc u refused to at first
it’s so 180 the way you suddenly become friends with him !!!!!
another thing he does is laugh at how you enjoy playing candy crush, calling you a grandma as if he doesn’t act like an old man
and then he gets so invested when you let him try
will cheat to get more lives and fuck up your time settings on your phone
btw he always talks about you A LOT 😭
his friends will know everything about you before you even meet them
“so, what level are you in candy crush?”, jake would ask the first time you meet
“excuse me, what??”
“sunghoon talks about you aaaall the time, it’s getting a little silly. like i know your go-to order at a cafe.”
“yeah like isn’t ur favorite color ___”
u look at sunghoon like ?????? and he just has a guilty smile on his face
but he doesn’t deny anything
you’d be shocked to suddenly see him as your seatmate one day like he rly switched with the person sitting next to you
laughing at your test paper scores together is also a fun little activity the two of u do
and then crying as you cram study in one of ur homes or on call when it gets too late
“hey can u help me with this chemistry question”
“ok give me a minute”
would open up those white board apps and screenshare his phone to start helping u with a part he understands but u don’t
he was 828283 screenshots of ur calls together
btw you CANNOT go to the library
you know that if you go to a library together … yall are NOT studying 😭
also u enjoy just shooting each other questions back and forth before the test
u would also probably come up with ways on how to cheat im sorry like u guys will have this whole grand scheme only to chicken out of it when u actually take the test
anyways
one day, you ask him why he had suddenly started eating lunch with you
bc like !!!! u’re happy he did but why so suddenly yknow
you’re grateful tho bc now u have someone to text like 25/8 and call whenever u’re bored
BUT U WANNA KNOW WHY. what started it
“i don’t know... i’ve always wanted to talk to you. you’re always so funny in class”
“and you didn’t say anything because??”
“i was gonna say something then i totally chickened out and then it was too late to say anything…. thank god for yuzuru hanyu.”
asks u to be his gf while teaching u figure skating for the first time
bc u finally ask him like dude why r u ALWAYS absent from classes
he’s like oh no biggie i’m ltrly just an athlete that competes in national events 😹😹😹
WTF !!!!!!!!
u knew he was competing in something but he never mentioned Figure Skating before
he is a fraud of a Friend
“sunghoon what does our friendship actually mean to u … WHERE IS THE LOVE”
but then he’ll go .. “want me to teach you?”
he’s forgiven now
“teach me figure skating??”
“yes” and he’s SOOOOO excited about it
he helps you find which skates to wear like he makes sure u have right size so ur feet don’t hurt
doesnt let u borrow those polar bears to hold onto
he can be ur polar bear
tho, when u do get tired .. he finally rents one and lets u sit on it while he pushes u around
it’s so much fun
except for when you fall
tho … it’s important for me to tell you that when you fall on your butt, he has heart eyes
and he holds your hands the entire time
he asks u to be his gf when you skate ur way across the rink without his help
sunghoon got so happy he just blurted it out
“be mine”
BYEEEEEE ofc u say yes
tho u think he’s joking at first
he does repeat it when you eat ramen after .. he’ll be like r u actually fr ??? did u actually say yes to me ??? u wanna deal with my jokes forever ??
oh dear
you should invite yuzuru hanyu to your wedding honestly 😭 thank u to ur fyp
