LEE HEESEUNG
heeseung’s always been the cool, nonchalant type—someone who can laugh off pretty much anything with that easygoing smirk of his. so, when one of your guy friends throws a casual arm around your shoulders during a group hangout, you expect heeseung to ignore it or joke in to the gossip, at least that's what he should do since you're not his real girlfriend. instead, he goes silent, his dark eyes narrowing ever so slightly as he watches the interaction with a clenched jaw.
the shift is subtle, but you know him too well. he doesn’t move from where he’s leaning against the wall, but the way his gaze follows your every move is unnerving.
“you good?” you ask, stepping closer after the gathering got over, and tugging lightly on his sleeve. his eyes snap to yours, and for a second, something almost dangerous flickers behind them before he masks it with a tight-lipped smile.
“yeah, i'm good.” his voice is flat, the usual playful tone gone. “didn't know you two were that close.”
you arch an eyebrow, tilting your head. “what, jealous?” you tease, hoping to break the tension, cracking him a smile.
heeseung lets out a humourless chuckle, his gaze sliding back to where your friend was standing. “of him? please.” the words are dismissive, but there’s a sharp edge underneath. heeseung finally pushes off the wall and closes the distance between you, his tall frame towering over yours as he dips his head down, his hand slowly caressing your upper hand. “but just so you know,” he murmurs lowly, voice dropping to a dangerous whisper that only you can hear, “i’m your boyfriend, even if it’s fake. he doesn’t get to touch you like that.”
before you can respond, he pulls you into his chest, wrapping a possessive arm around your waist. the way he holds you is different—no teasing, no joking, just a raw, simmering intensity that makes your heart race.
PARK JONGSEONG
calm and collected are two adjectives that can define jay the best, a total gentleman— a perfect choice to play your fake boyfriend, the best fake plus one for your uncle's wedding. but tonight, at the party, you see his mask slip. it’s subtle at first—the way his eyes harden when he spots you talking to some random guy by the drinks table, swiftly turning his head away. he doesn't think much of it until the guy leans in closer, saying something that makes you laugh.
that’s when jay moves. he’s at your side in an instant, so swift you down even realise his imposing presence as he slides an arm around your shoulders. “hey,” he says, his voice light but his grip firm. “who’s your new friend?”
you blink, caught off guard by the sudden change in his demeanour. “oh, uh—a family friend,” you answer, a tight lipped smile, but jay’s gaze doesn’t leave the guy’s face.
“right.” his smile is strained, more of a baring of teeth than an expression of friendliness. the guy glances between you and jay, looking a bit uncomfortable before mumbling an excuse and walking away.
as soon as he’s gone, jay pulls you closer, his hand slipping down to your waist, fingers digging in ever so slightly, your back hitting his chest. “next time,” he murmurs, his lips brushing against your ear, hot breath travelling softly down to your neck, “just tell him you have a boyfriend—me.” his voice is low and intense, vibrating through you.
your heart skips a beat. “jay, it’s not—”
“real? yeah, i know,” he cuts you off, turning you to face him. his dark eyes bore into yours, darting across your face real quick, resring on your lips. “but i don’t care. i don’t want anyone else thinking they have a chance with you,” he leans in even closer, his lips almost touching yours, “even if this is just pretend… you’re mine.”
SIM JAEYUN
the party is loud, laughter and music filling the air as you stand awkwardly by the punch table, watching jake from a distance. he’s talking to someone, a girl with long hair and a smile that lights up her face. his ex. you bite your lips, feeling a dull ache in your chest. it's silly—you’re not even really dating, but seeing him so at ease with her, leaning in to listen, his familiar grin in place, makes your heart clench, makes you feel it was you making his heart flutter instead.
they look like a perfect couple. a real couple, with real feelings for each other.
you turn away, trying to shake off the pang of insecurity by getting out of this place. but before you can slip out of sight, a familiar voice stops you.
“hey, what’s with the long face?”
you glance up, startled to find jake standing right in front of you, concern etched in his features. “n-nothing,” you mumble, forcing a smile. “just —felt out of place, i guess.”
jake’s gaze softens as if he can see right through your flimsy excuse. he steps closer, gently cupping your cheek, his thumb brushing away a worry line that you hadn’t realised had formed. he leans in ever so close, “is it because of her?” he asks softly, nodding back toward his ex. when you don’t respond, he leans in, his eyes locking with yours. “you know she’s just the past, right?”
“but you looked so happy, jake! and we're not even—” “i’m only yours, you hear me?” he whispers fiercely, his fingers tightening around your waist, pulling you into him. “fake or not, you’re the one i want to be with.” his voice is low, almost pleading. “i’m not going anywhere.”
warmth blooms in your chest, melting away the doubts. and when he kisses your forehead gently, it’s like the final seal on his promise.
PARK SUNGHOON
the elevator doors slide shut, leaving just you and sunghoon in the small, enclosed space. his shoulders brush against yours, a stark reminder of how close you’re standing. you glance up at him nervously, noting the sharp line of his jaw and the tense set of his shoulders. why does he look so annoyed? he hasn’t said a word since you two left the event.
you press the button for your floor, stealing another look at him. he’s staring straight ahead, expression unreadable, but you can tell something’s different today. his jaw is clenched, his hands stuffed into his pockets, tension radiating from him.
it hits you then—he saw you talking to that guy earlier. your colleague from work, who’s been too friendly lately.
the elevator jolts slightly as it begins its ascent, and the silence stretches. you clear your throat, shifting nervously, taking a quick glance at his side profile, “sunghoon, about earlier—”
“does he always touch you like that?” his voice is low, cold even, cutting through the still air like a blade, face away from yours, looking straight ahead.
you blink, caught off guard by the question. “what?”
he turns to you, stepping closer until the space between you is almost nonexistent. “your ‘friend’ at the office,” he mutters, his eyes narrowing, leaning his head down as he loosens his tie. “he seemed too comfortable.”
you feel a flicker of heat rising in your chest—he’s jealous. But why? “sunghoon, it’s not—”
“i don’t care what you think it is.” his hand reaches out, gripping the side of the elevator wall beside your head, caging you in. his breath hitches as he leans in, his face just inches from yours. “we might be pretending, but i don’t like it when anyone else looks at you that way. you’re mine.”
the possessiveness in his voice sends shivers down your spine. your heart pounds as you try to process the sudden shift in his demeanour, the unspoken intensity in his eyes, the impossibly fast heartbeat of yours.
“we’re not real, remember?” you manage to whisper, though your body betrays you, leaning into the space between you two.
“then tell me,” he murmurs, voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. his fingers brush lightly against your waist, the touch sending shivers down your spine. “why does it hurt so much seeing another guy looking at you?”
you stare at him, mouth dry, as his eyes drop to your lips.
“i don’t want to pretend anymore,” he whispers, “please..” a desperate plea from his lips as his hands control itself to not pull you in, but you don't wait, and close the gap between your lips. and he pulls you closer, bodies clashing against each other as the kiss escalates. he smirks into the kiss, you're his for real now.
KIM SUNOO
it’s pouring rain, and you’re soaked to the bone, standing under a bus stop shelter that does little to keep you dry. you mentally curse yourself for forgetting your umbrella, shivering as the cold wind cuts through your drenched clothes. just when you think your day can’t get any worse, a familiar car pulls up beside the curb, headlights cutting through the downpour.
the passenger window rolls down, and there he is—kim sunoo, your ‘fake’ boyfriend, his brows furrowed in a mix of exasperation and concern. “get in before you freeze,” he calls out, voice muffled by the sound of the rain.
you don’t need to be told twice. you scramble into the car, teeth chattering as you tug the door shut behind you. the warmth of the heater engulfs you instantly, and sunoo’s jacket is shoved into your hands before you can even register what’s happening. “you’re going to catch a cold,” he scolds, his voice laced with worry as he glances at your shivering form, “why didn't you call me?”
you blink up at him, feeling a strange flutter in your chest. “i … i didn’t want to bother you.”
sunoo sighs, leaning closer until you can see every droplet of rain clinging to his hair, every crease in his usually cheerful face. “idiot,” he murmurs, voice low and filled with something you can’t quite name. “you’re never a bother to me.”
your heart skips as he reaches out, brushing damp strands of hair away from your forehead with gentle fingers. his hand lingers, thumb tracing your chilled cheek softly.
for a moment, he’s quiet. then, he reaches over, wiping a raindrop from your cheek with the pad of his thumb, the gesture so gentle it makes your heart skip. “do you know how worried i was? pretend or not, i don’t want to see you like this,” he murmurs, his hand lingering near your face.
before you can respond, he leans over and tucks the jacket around your shoulders, pulling you close until you’re huddled against his chest and neck. “you’re mine to worry about,” he whispers, pressing a soft kiss to your temple, then one on the bridge of your nose.
in that moment, under the sound of rain and the warmth of his embrace, it doesn’t feel like an act anymore.
YANG JUNGWON
it wasn’t supposed to happen like this. the plan was rather simple—show up together at the dinner, play the perfect couple in front of his friends, and go home as usual. but then the storm hit, trapping you at his apartment afterward, the rain pouring down outside in heavy sheets, drenching the city.
jungwon sits beside you on the couch, the dim glow of the lamp casting shadows across his sharp features, and you force yourself to look away. his jacket is discarded on the floor, sleeves rolled up as he runs a hand through his damp hair, frustrated by the turn of events. he looks too handsome right now.
it’s quiet, too quiet, with only the sound of rain tapping against the windows.
“looks like you’re stuck here,” he says, leaning back casually, but there’s a tension in the air that you can’t ignore. you tug the blanket tighter around yourself, trying to stay calm, but the warmth of the apartment and the intimacy of the moment is starting to make you nervous.
“i'll crash on the couch,” you mutter awkwardly, avoiding his gaze, but jungwon’s eyes are on you, piercing, like he’s studying every inch of your face. he doesn’t say anything at first, but then he moves closer, his knee brushing against yours, you shiver.
“you don’t have to,” he murmurs, his voice low and smooth, sending a shiver through you. his hand rests lightly on your knee, but it’s enough to make your heart race. “you can take the bed.”
before you can respond, jungwon cups your chin gently, turning your face toward his. his touch is soft but firm, like he’s been holding back for too long. his thumb brushes over your bottom lip, his gaze locked onto yours with an intensity that makes your breath hitch, as his as well.
“we don’t have to pretend all the time, you know,” he says, voice barely above a whisper, his eyes darkening with something deeper, something real, “it's getting so hard for me…”
your heart skips a beat, and suddenly the fake relationship feels far too real. “jungwon, what are you saying?” you ask, your voice trembling as he leans in, his forehead resting against yours, hands falling down to your waist to pull you closer.
“i'm saying,” he murmurs, his lips just inches from yours, “that i want to kiss you, but in a real boyfriend way, and love you too while at that.”
the rain continues to fall outside, but all you can hear is the pounding of your heart as his lips brush softly against yours, the kiss gentle but full of unspoken emotions, before it quickly melts to an intense one. he pulls away slightly, his breath mingling with yours as he whispers, “stay with me tonight… for real.”
NISHIMURA RIKI
you never expected to find yourself in a fake relationship with riki, of all people—the energetic, mischievous older brother of your best friend. when he overheard you venting about your annoying ex constantly showing up at your favourite hangouts, he had put up a sly smirk and volunteered to be your fake boyfriend.
“think of it as a win-win. i get to mess with people’s heads, and you get a human shield. plus,” he had said, winking playfully, “it’ll be fun.”
you should’ve known that riki’s idea of ‘fun’ involved way more than you’d bargained for.
tonight, at your favourite late-night café, you spot your ex walking in, scanning the crowd. you freeze, heart thudding. before you can react, riki slides his arm around your shoulders, tugging you close. his scent—a mix of citrus and something else uniquely him—makes your pulse spike. it’s only for show, you remind yourself. except … he’s suddenly so convincing.
“hey, baby, you okay?” riki’s voice is loud enough to catch your ex’s attention, his fingers tracing lazy circles on your arm. he leans in, close enough that you can feel his breath tickling your ear. “you’re all tense.”
you fight the shiver that runs down your spine. “stop playing around,” you mutter, but he just smirks.
“i’m not playing,” he murmurs back, eyes twinkling. his gaze flicks toward your ex, who’s now glaring at you both, and riki’s grip tightens around you possessively. “i told you i’m the best at this.”
the next thing you know, riki’s turning you slightly in his arms, cupping your cheek in a way that looks so natural it makes your heart skip. the café lights catch on the gleam in his eyes—intense, focused. your ex is staring daggers at him now, but riki pays him no mind. instead, his thumb brushes your jaw softly, his face hovering inches from yours.
“relax, would you?” he murmurs, but his voice has lost its teasing edge. there’s something almost… protective in the way he’s watching you.
“riki —” you start, but he cuts you off by leaning even closer, his lips brushing the shell of your ear as he whispers, “let me handle this.”
before you can process his words, he pulls you flush against him, his eyes never leaving your ex’s face. then, with a cocky grin, he dips his head, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to your temple.
you freeze, heart pounding. when he finally pulls back, his gaze meets yours, unreadable. “there,” he says softly, still holding you close. “you’re mine now. got it?” and from the look on his face, you’re not entirely sure he’s pretending anymore.

popular sunghoon x fem reader 1535 words genre fluff mikaela’s note because sunghoon is so tristan dugray coded, inspired by a gilmore girls scene
“I’d kiss you but your boyfriend’s watching,” Sunghoon mumbles, and he’s so close you can feel his breath on your lips.
He holds your gaze confidently, with a tinge of arrogance as his tongue darts out to lick his lip. You think that Sunghoon is the most annoying person in the world, because how can he look so devilishly handsome and have such an intoxicating effect on you.
It all started when he showed up unannounced and uninvited to your birthday party — still in his school uniform, tie loosened and sleeves rolled up with his blazer hanging over his shoulder.
And you should have known better than to let him charm his way into your house. “What are you doing here, Hoon?”
He loves the way his nickname rolls off the tip of your tongue, it's so addictive and he wants to record it so that he can play it again and again, even if your tone is one of spite.
“Happy birthday princess,” Sunghoon completely ignores your words, taking steps closer towards you, “now, where’s my birthday kiss?”
He’s at it again, aimlessly flirting with you. You roll your eyes, a deep sigh exiting your mouth, “it’s my birthday, Hoon.” How did he even know where you lived? You were sure you told everyone you invited not to bring him along.
“So I’ll give you a birthday kiss,” he grins, eyes glinting with mischief as he watches your facial expressions fall, ears burning red as you quickly turn around.
You hate Park Sunghoon and the unimaginable hold he has on you. “I’m going to find my mother. Do not, I swear to god, cause any trouble.”
“Your mother? It’s a little early in the relationship,” he moves swiftly to your side, arms casually slinging over your shoulder as he pulls you closer into him forcefully. “But it’s okay, I’m ready.”
Where in the world does Sunghoon get his cocky attitude from, you think as you try your best to pry and lift his arm away from your shoulder. Despite your surface indifference towards his advances, there were millions of butterflies invading your stomach at his every single action.
Before you can even try to escape, a voice calls your name and you stop to talk to Yunjin. “Park Sunghoon? What are you doing here?”
Sunghoon steals a glance at you, and he thinks you look absolutely adorable as you pout at the image of multiple people seeing you with him; given how you always seemed to have complaints about his overly flirty nature and playboy ways.
But Sunghoon hasn’t fooled around since you transferred into Decelis two months ago, a personal record for him. At first all you were was a form of entertainment, someone who had cute reactions to his smooth pick up lines.
Then it all came crashing down, when he started to feel the need to bicker with you everyday and mess up your hair every time he sees you in the hallways. And somewhere in between the blurred lines, he fell in love.
“Here to celebrate my girl’s birthday,” he cocks his head towards you, who’s palms now cover your face in sheer embarrassment. God, now it’s going to spread like wildfire. His girl?
Yunjin’s eyes widen and jaw drops, “really? You guys are together? But I thought you were with Choi Soobin.” She asks, nudging you.
Sunghoon frowns at her words. Choi Soobin? Since when? Sunghoon literally follows you around school whenever he sees you, and he’s never seen you ever talk to that boy.
“Soobin and I are just friends,” you clarify, “also we are not a couple,” your finger gesturing to you and Sunghoon as you answer the girl.
“Tomorrow we’ll be a couple,” Sunghoon cuts back into the conversation, voice loud, and he catches your surprised expression as he smirks slyly.
Though he continues the conversation without a single stutter or break, Sunghoon’s feeling utterly disgusted. Is that the kind of boy you like? Nerdy losers who can’t do anything for the life of themselves? He doesn’t really like the thought of turning into those types of boys, but whatever you want, he thinks — he’s already practised abstinence for you, he might as well go all the way.
At the same time Sunghoon wonders if you’re really that oblivious to his obvious advancements towards you. He’s made it crystal clear: dumped his girlfriend, follows you around, talks about you literally all the time, and yet you’re still clueless.
And he whisks you away before you find the chance to clarify his words again. He’s determined this time round, to make it extremely straightforward for you.
“Hoon why in the world would you say stuff like that,” you groan, hands slapping his chest. And he grins like an idiot at your touch, if this was what it took for you to initiate skinship with him, he’d be more than willing to proclaim himself as your boyfriend any day.
He places a hand on the place you’d just hit, “it’s painful,” he pouts, and you almost feel a little guilty at your harsh actions, “can you kiss it better?”
Until that. You huff, “i’m leaving,” you announce as you turn away, ready to walk right back into the crowd. Sunghoon quickly clasps his fingers around your wrist, pulling you into his chest.
Your eyes become those of a deer caught in headlights as your body is pressed firmly against his, his arms finding their way to your waist; a gentle but firm hold as he bends down.
“Wasn’t done yet, princess,” he smirks, and you feel some sort of danger looming over because Sunghoon looks like a devil enticing you to commit sin. His black hair styles perfectly like always and his red tie, due to his excessive movements, is now dropping down even more to expose his honey skinned collarbones.
The most you can muster is a mumble, “what,” and your eyes are glassy as you stare up at him, he thinks he might go insane — so close to just moving in to place a kiss on your invitingly soft lips.
“I’d kiss you but your boyfriend’s watching,” and he literally spits the term out, unable to believe he’s labelling someone else other than him ‘your boyfriend’. He knows you guys aren’t together, but just for the comfort of his heart he has to hear it again.
It takes you a while before you process his words. “He’s not my boyfriend, Hoon,” and it’s that short statement coupled with the way you say his name that really breaks it for him.
Sunghoon moves in just as you finish your sentence, and he sinks into your pillowy lips. It’s paradise on earth and he thinks he will never be able to get enough of this feeling.
“Sunghoon,” you mumble when he breaks the kiss, slightly out of breath as you look up with hazy eyes.
He chuckles, “sorry, baby, my bad. I’ll return your kiss back,” and Sunghoon doesn’t hesitate to give you another kiss, fingers caressing your waist as he pulls you closer to him.
This time it’s you who breaks the kiss, way too out of breath to even form full sentences without a few breaks in between. “You just kissed me.”
“Right, I just did that baby,” he smiles, those tiny fangs of his showcased as he gazes adoringly at you. “Actually, I’m looking for a girlfriend.” He pauses, eyeing your flushed cheeks and pink lips, “you looking for a boyfriend by any chance, princess?”
Now that you’re literally glued onto Sunghoon, you take the chance to look at him. Sharp nose, pretty moles that you could probably trace along all day, and his eyes which contrasting to his calm demeanour, held anxiousness as he waited for you to answer.
You’ve thought about dating Sunghoon before. Multiple times. Way more than you should’ve. And you never wanted to ever confess to it, because he was everyone’s crush. And not only that, he was annoying — constantly teasing you and making you flustered by his actions. You’d curse every time your heartbeat started to accelerate at his flirty words. You had thought that there was no way he’d ever like you back.
“I’m looking for a boyfriend,” you admit, letting out a soft giggle at Sunghoon’s overjoyed expression. And you decide that maybe now’s the time to get back at him, tease him a little to get him to stay on his toes, “maybe I should go find Soobin.”
His shoulders drop almost immediately and his arms wrap around your waist securely, chin resting on the top of your head. “No fucking way,” he grumbles, “you’re my girlfriend now. And I’m your boyfriend.”
“Yeah, you are,” you say, voice muffled in the embrace of Sunghoon. And you hear him giggle slightly, the rumble of his chest exposing the boyish feelings your boyfriend was currently going through, “for now.”
Sunghoon lifts his chin from your head, fingers brushing over your cheeks before they land themselves on your jaw. He tilts your chin up, “too bad my intention is forever.” And he places a chaste kiss on your lips again and again.
You are in for a long ride.

Lee Heeseung walked the halls of the campus like he owned the whole fucking world, and you hated it with a burning passion.
You hated him with a burning passion.
His face was dumb, his smiles were dumb, his soft yet cheerful greetings were dumb, his lingering hands on your arm when he called for your attention was dumb.
You just wanted to punch him in the face sometimes.
Sure, he was hot—insanely so. He was smart, athletic, good at everything he did. But he wasn’t the king of the world or anything—though he sure liked to act like he was.
His follower count on social media baffled you, you refused to become one of the numbers that stalked his every post and commented thirst all over his photos. You refused to join the crowd.
That didn’t mean you didn’t secretly ogle his photos.
And sometimes, he even shared a lowkey photo of you claiming he was in mad love. You thought he was just using you to get the women in his DMs to back off, but little did you know…
Ever since you were a kid, you were always second place next to Heeseung. He followed you everywhere, just to taunt you and rub that simple fact into your face. Anyone would think he was following you because he was beyond whipped over you, but the whispers he shared into your ears were often taunts of you not being good enough to beat him, not good enough to ever be on top of him, not secret sweet confessions like everyone thought.
You weren’t the only enemy Lee Heeseung had.
Everyone knew there was another student that was second in town, Sungchan. He always pushed you down to third place, but you were okay with the fact it was him. Sungchan didn’t make you feel angry butterflies. His smile calmed you, and he often made you laugh instead of feel fury.
Despite going to sister schools and not sharing any classes growing up, you had become friends with Sungchan through some after school classes you both attended. Dare you say it, he was your best friend.
When all three of you began university, you were beyond happy to be in all the same classes as Sungchan. It just sucked that Heeseung was also in your classes. At least he left you alone.
Sungchan had become more like a brother figure, a best friend, compare to the crush you expected it to turn out to be. When you were a kid, you expected to fall madly in love with Sungchan and you would get your happy ever after with him. But that was far from the case.
You both enjoyed being with one another, but there was no semblance of romance in sight. That, and the fact Sungchan had been in love and dating the same girl from the age of 13.
Sungchan walked you out of class and pulled you aside, chewing at his bottom lip with anxiety. “I think I’m really going to do it, I’m going to propose to her.”
“While I think you’re still way too young to be getting married,” You began, having been through this conversation many times in recent months. You turned around, landing your back against the wall as you watched Sungchan’s reactions. “You’ve been together for so long and it’s clear you’re each other’s soulmates. I wish you all my luck.”
Sungchan’s anxious frown turned into a wide smile, his eyes even glossing over. He jumped in his spot and took a breath to try and clear the fog in his brain. “You’re my number one hype man, and I couldn’t ask for a better friend,” Sungchan complimented you.
You grabbed his cheeks with your hand and pulled his head down a little too aggressive. You pressed a kiss to his forehead, then tapped his cheek with your fingers. “Go get yourself that wife,” You joked with a wide smile.
Sungchan turned and almost ran down the hallway, tripping on the way. You couldn’t help but feel a flutter in your chest. He was so happy, and that made you happy. You silently made a reminder to text him later that night for all the details before you pushed yourself off the wall and turned, only to come face-to-chest with an unknown person.
“Oh, sorry-“ You began, but your happiness dimmed as you looked up at Heeseung. You sighed, crossing your arms over your chest. “How long have you been standing here for?”
“Long enough to see you making fuck me eyes at Sungchan,” He muttered, sounding a little jealous almost. You rolled your eyes, but pushed the angry butterflies in your stomach aside. You felt butterflies for this man only, and it made you hate him more.
“I was not making fuck me eyes at him, thank you very much. Not that it’s any of your business,” You snapped. As you looked up at him, your chin almost rested on his chest. You craved to hold him closer, but you knew you had no right to touch him.
“Of course it’s my business, you’re my fucking girlfriend,” Heeseung snapped, causing your eyes to go wide and your mouth to fall open.
“Um, since when?” You asked. Heeseung looked enraged by your response, his hand grabbing your cheeks just as you had done to Sungchan.
“What do you mean ‘since when’? Since we were kids, maybe. You were always at my house and we spent all of our time together, and you’re only now telling me you were never my girlfriend?”
You couldn’t held but laugh, only causing Heeseung’s eyes to turn into a cold stare as his hand gripped your cheeks tighter, pushing your lips out at the action. “That doesn’t mean we were dating, you know.”
‘Oh yeah? Then why did you sleep over almost every weekend and hug me in your sleep? Why did we go on almost weekly dates?” Heeseung defended the relationship you didn’t even know you was in.
“Dates? Wait, you think us going to the library to study was us going on dates? Come on man, do better. If you’re in love with me then just admit it,” You joked, your hands coming to hold his wrist but you made no effort to push his hand away.
“I’m madly in fucking love with you,” He stated, his voice a little too calm in contrast to the butterflies rumbling in your stomach, trying to get out.
“Excuse me?” You asked, your tone sounded a little too snappy and angry, the opposite of what you intended.
“Enough of your attitude,” Heeseung whispered before he pulled your face to his, his lips pressing against yours gently. Your eyes widened at first, but then your hands let go of his wrist to wrap around his neck to kiss him back.
Heeseung smiled against your lips at the action and turned his head to check his watch before he mumbled, “I’m meant to be in gym right now.”
“Well how about your kind of girlfriend follows you and watches your basketball training for once, yeah?” You asked, Heeseung nodding his head a little too enthusiastically. You didn’t know why you just decided to hop right into the role of his girlfriend from seemingly hating him, but a part of you burned for him. His existence in your life was daily, and you couldn’t bare the idea of parting.
Heeseung let go of your cheeks and laced his hand down, his fingers tangling between yours before he said nothing further and walked with you to the downstairs gym. He had his own little plan, knowing no one would be there for some hours. He thought he was ingenious.
Heeseung had always seen you as his girlfriend. He fell in love with you at first sight as a kid, sharing his paints with you and trying to help you hold your paintbrush at a better angle. He took on most of the project when you were paired up in class, not even asking you to do any work. He walked you home almost every day. He looked at the crowd of his every basketball match, only to feel sadness when he didn’t find your face cheering him on.
He personally thought you were a shit girlfriend, but he loved you with ever fibre of his being so he couldn’t just let you go. He even bragged to the whole world about you, that was why he shared your semi-photos of social media. His friends even deemed you a bad girlfriend, but he still defended your every action.
Heeseung reached the door to lead to the locker room and turned to you with a wide smile. You went to pull your hand away so he could go inside, but instead you let out a gasp when he pulled you in, then into a private changing room. He locked the door behind him, pushing you to sit on the bench.
You looked at him with wide and surprised eyes, watching as he slipped his bag from his shoulder onto the floor by the door. He looked to the right and smirked. “I’m going to have a quick shower since I was working out this morning. I want you to sit front row so it’s easier to wait here so I can show you the quick way to the best seats, yeah?”
You laughed, leaning your head back against the wall. “Wow, you demand I’m your girlfriend and try to fuck me all in the same day.” You caught onto his plot quite quick, but you made no effort to leave. If you wanted to, he would have gladly just saved seeing you for later.
Heeseung rolled his eyes and crouched in front of you, his hands resting on your thighs for support. “It’s not my fault you forgot we were dating.”
“You never asked me,” You snapped, lifting your head to stare into his eyes. The way he raised an eyebrow made the butterflies fight once again. Your hands came to the sides of his jaw, holding his face in your hands. You felt drunk just from his looks.
“Of course I did, and you said ‘yeah, sure,’ so you’re all mine and I would appreciate it if you’d stop flirting with Sungchan,” Heeseung stated, his hands moving their way up your thighs to your hips, his touch gentle but behind his eyes, there was a dark look.
You couldn’t remember the day as you were so lost reading on your phone, how did he expect you to remember? He remembered the feeling of his skin becoming hot and his hands sweaty when he asked. The memory was engraved in his brain for the rest of time.
“Sungchan is literally about to go propose to his girlfriend so I can assure you, I do not flirt with him,” You stated, shaking Heeseung’s face in your hands.
Heeseung smiles wide and then pouted his lips. His hands tightened on your hips, pulling you to the edge of the bench so your lips could meet his again. At first the kiss was gently, but Heeseung soon became needy and began to use his tongue and teeth into the kiss, nipping at your bottom lip to try and heat up the make out session.
You weren’t sure how to react, your brain hazy. You hated him, but you also really, really liked him. He was perfect in every way, despite the daily taunts of him being better than you. You didn’t know that was just his lame way of flirt, and made a reminder to show your boyfriend how to really flirt with a girl when you weren’t so needy to be against one another’s bare skin.
Your hands moved from his jaw back to lock around his neck, pulling him as close as possible. Heeseung smiled against your lips before one of his hands wrapped around your waist, then he grabbed the zip of your pants and he pulled it down. The action caused your pants to fall down a bit, you gasping against his lips. “What are you doing?”
Heeseung laughed and pulled back to rest his forehead against yours. “Sorry, I got a little too caught up. I just want to touch you and make everyone know you’re mine. Mark up the pretty skin on your neck, make you scream my name…”
Heeseung’s words drifted off as he became lost in his own perverted thoughts. Your cheeks became hot and you used one hand to fan at your face and neck, trying not to turn into a fit of nervous giggles.
You laughed and pulled back from him. Heeseung expected you to reject his offer, but God, he had no idea how much you had been dreaming of touching him beyond his face and arms. The parts of you that hated, really only hated that you thought he didn’t care about you. When you found out the truth, of course your whole body became crazed.
You grabbed the edge of your jumper and pulled it off, revealing you were wearing no undershirt or bra. Heeseung’s eyes bulged out of his head for a second before he smirked, his hands coming to your chest as his thumbs rubbed over your nipples, eliciting a moan from you.
“Oh no, is my pretty baby already needy for me?” Heeseung pouted, his thumbs flicking slow, then fast. You raised your hips, leaning your head back as you let out deep breaths. Heeseung took the hint, his hands pushing down your pants. He gripped your ass halfway down, then smirked to himself before he pushed the pants down to your knees.
You let out a gasp as his actions, but couldn’t hold back your laugh. “For someone who was always mean to their girlfriend, you’re sure acting real nice to me right now. Is it just because you’re going to be getting something out of this?”
Heeseung pouted and shook his head in denial. “Of course not, can’t I just treat my pretty girlfriend nice for once?”
Your rolled your eyes but nodded with a smile. Heeseung rushed to push your panties aside, no smart remarks coming from him for once. You were unsure how to react, but decided to just go along with it.
Neither you nor him ever dated anyone else and he was right, you did sleep over his every weekend after studying together. He was a secret best friend, one who tried to push your buttons.
He didn’t seem to comment on the fact when you sleep in his bed, you made sure to push your whole body against his in an attempt to get his attention. If he did notice, then he sure held some strong restraints against your seduction attempts.
You weren’t sure how Sungchan would react to you dating his academic rival, but decided it better to push the worry aside. That was something you could deal with at a later time.
Heeseung instantly dove his face between your legs, tongue out and ready to give you all the pleasure you wanted. His tongue pressed flat against your clit, and you let out a little shriek for the new yet exciting feeling.

Watching Sunghoon’s svelte frame in the salt-water pool, the thin clothes clinging to his figure as he glided across the water, you relished in the sight.
“Having fun watching, babe?” His velvety voice echoed through the enclosed space, water splashing as a smirk washed over his lips. You paused, the sight of his pretty brown eyes gazing at you, his head tilted and his eyebrow lifted, it was all too much to take in.
You rolled your eyes playfully, sugary lips curving into a smile as you slowly dipped yourself into the pool. The water placed cold kisses against your skin as you sunk in, your body already trembling as you neared Sunghoon who stood there, smiling.
“That’s better,” he whispered, placing his hands on your hips and pulling you closer, his hands sliding up and down your form. You smiled, a shiver still present as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“You like to see me like this?” You teased and leaned closer, your lips almost pressing against his skin, but you halted. Your breath brushes against his ear, your voice a low whisper. “I could get used to this view… but I’m not the only one enjoying it, am I?”
You pulled away from him, savouring the reaction he gave as your hand rested on his practically bare chest, the white cloth barely visible as if it had simply disintegrated.
“Will this answer your question?” Sunghoon asked rhetorically, gripping your waist tight, his arms pulling you close. A soft giggle left your lips, muffled as he kissed you. Your arms wrapped around him as the kiss deepened, your fingers tangling within his hair. His breath became heavy as your lips traced down his neck leaving sweet love bites on his Adam's apple.
Warmth radiated from Sunghoon’s body contrasting the cold water that splashed around you. His fingers dug into your waist, pulling you closer as your kisses quickened with more urgency and lust.
You placed rough kisses along his delicate skin, lingering over his collarbone. You couldn’t resist the temptation, gently biting down, a soft nip at his skin that made him gasp, breath hitched in his throat. You pulled back, watching his reaction as his eyes grew dark, lips parted as he looked down at you and an unreadable expression painted his face.
“Careful, babe,” he teased, his voice deep and throaty as he leaned toward you. You smiled, your fingers trailing down his body, caressing his firm abs. Water thrashed around you as you leaned closer, peppering soft kisses against his chest.
Sunghoon’s hands stroked your back, the heat between you warming the cold pool. You felt his rapid heartbeat against your lips as you trailed your way back up his neck. You paused, meeting his lust-drunken gaze.
You pressed your lips against his, capturing the taste of the sweet nectar that glazed them, a salty mixture of the water that filled your tastebuds. His hand gently held your hair as he pushed you into him, deepening the kiss. Without thought or hesitation, your teeth lightly clamped on his lower lip, eliciting a soft groan from him. You felt yourself smirk against his lips as blood seeped into your mouth.
“You really want to play?” A murmure escaped his now bloodied lips, his breath brushing against your cold face. “I can bite back, y’know?”
He gripped your waist tight, his strong arms lifting you as you wrapped your legs around his abdomen. The water splashed around your bodies as his lips collided with yours. Every kiss, every caress sent your heart aflame, a desire filled you with hunger for the taste of his lips.

for a pair who called themselves academic rivals, you and park sunghoon shouldnt have been in the janitors closet, bunking one of your most favourite classes, just to have his lips against yours for a few minutes.
but oh the way he held you, the way he kissed you like he could never do so again, you decided missing a few minutes of biology wouldnt really affect your perfect grades much.
sunghoons lips moved away from yours, and you couldnt wait for him to put it back on yours once again. he didnt take his hands off you, his grip just as tight as before, now just a bit softer, rubbing circles on the side of your waist. you feel your face redding more than ever, from his intense gaze on you.
“stop looking at me like that” you breathe out, still in a bit of a daze from all the kissing. he smiles “like what?” you hit his chest playfully, giggling and then looking into his eyes, only to see how soft his gaze was. you sucked in a breath, gasping at how incredibly beautiful he looked, the only light being the light coming in from the small opening of the janitors closet. “you know what i mean.” you say, your hands moving from his chest, snaking around his neck, pulling him a tad bit closer. you dont miss the way he glances at your lips once again, and youre glad to know that he isnt the only one who cant stop thinking about kissing the other again.
his hands pull you even closer and you can feel his breath on your lips, almost closing the distance. “no, i dont know what youre talking about.” and his lips are on yours once again, smiling when he feels you kiss him back with the same passion.
his kisses were so soft, so gentle, so fragile. your legs were turning weak and you were melting into his arms.
pulling away after a few seconds, he looked at you once again, wanting to ask you something, yet hesitating.
“what’s on your mind?” you ask him, raking your hands through his hair, and he melts into your touch. “i just… im wondering if we’re ever gonna be more than just.. secret meetings and stolen kisses like these. i want to do this in front of everyone. i want to be able to hold your hands, to kiss you on your forehead, to reassure you whenever you think you havent prepared enough for a test, to be able to call you mine. call me selfish but i want to tell everyone that youre mine.” he finishes off, shying under your smile towards him.
you cup his face in your hands and make him look at you. “whatever you want okay? im just worried that all your fangirls might be mad that im the one who’s dating you and not them.”
sunghoons eyebrows furrow. “what fangirls? we’re both a bunch of nerds who would compete with each other to try to cover up the feelings we actually had.” you giggle and kiss his nose, adoring the way he scrunched it up at the feeling. you pull him into a hug, smiling.

the struggle of asking your best friend out to prom is very, very real. (or: nishimura riki is the worst wingman around, yang jungwon is at his wit's end, and you have no clue what's going on.)

ONE
It is a widely accepted and well-known fact that you and Yang Jungwon are practically attached at the hip.
It’s also a widely accepted and well-known fact that you and Yang Jungwon are head over heels for each other.
Were both of you too dumb to notice? Absolutely. Did both of you think your crush on the other is unrequited? Hell, yeah. Did it drive the rest of your friends batshit crazy? Of course. Have they tried to set you both up before? Hundreds of times. Were you both too dense to notice their attempts? Well, if you weren’t a pair of lovesick idiots, then you would have gotten together in elementary school.
It doesn’t help that Yang Jungwon has been pestering Nishimura Riki to help him out for weeks now.
Sure, Riki thinks to himself, now that it’s prom season, this loser is running around trying to get me to help him get a goddamn girlfriend.
“Did you just call me a loser?” Jungwon furrows his eyebrows at him.
“Oh, shit, did I say that out loud?” Riki glares at the boy opposite him, no hint of remorse in his face. “Maybe if you weren’t such a chicken, I wouldn’t refer to you as The Stupidest Airhead Around in my head. I even changed your contact number to that.”
“That’s unnecessary,” Jungwon says. “And mean.”
Riki sniffs disdainfully. “Do you want my help with asking Y/N out or not?”
“Yes. Sorry, I’ll shut up now.” Looking mildly chastised, Jungwon glares at the soggy peas on his lunch tray as though they would disintegrate due to his burning gaze.
Riki heaves out a sigh, running a hand through his hair. Honestly, he has no clue how to help his friend out. He doesn’t know what you like, what you don’t like, whether you prefer grand, romantic gestures, or whether you want something nice and quiet instead. Of course, the one person who actually knows about your preferences is currently sitting in front of him—but he’s just as clueless as Riki is. Still, asking him is worth a shot.
“Okay,” he begins slowly. Jungwon immediately perks up, grinning from ear-to-ear. “Do you know what kind of romance she likes?”
Jungwon looks stumped, with wide eyes and a mouth comically open. If Riki wasn’t kind of irritated already, he would’ve laughed at him. “Uh—”
“Jungwon, right now I’m seriously questioning how on earth you managed to land the position of class president when you’re this dumb.” Riki takes a sip of his orange juice, chewing on the end of his straw.
“Hey! Aren’t you supposed to be Mister Romantic Guy, or whatever?”
Riki pauses. That’s true, he supposes. He is the school’s resident romance expert—a title he gained by predicting most of their classmates’ current significant others. It was all a complete fluke, of course. There’s no way Riki is actually some kind of professional at giving love advice, but he can definitely see where the nickname came from. (He isn’t about to tell anyone that the only experience he has in the love department comes from watching To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before at least ten times.)
But that doesn’t mean he can read minds—he still doesn’t know what exactly you have in mind when it comes to a promposal.
“Ask her first,” he decides. “Tell me what she likes and then I’ll get back to you.”
Then he pushes his chair back, places his empty orange juice carton on his lunch tray and picks it up before turning around and dumping it in the crate meant for soiled trays.
Riki’s got a lot on his hands, because Yang Jungwon is dense as hell and for all he knows, you might not be much better.
TWO
Jungwon should not be taking this long to send you a measly text.
In his defence, he has no idea what he’s supposed to text you. Hey, Y/N, I was just wondering what kind of romance you like so that I can ask you out for prom in the most perfect way possible? That sounds dumb even in his head.
He groans, running a hand through his hair exasperatedly. Who knew asking someone out would take so much time and effort? He falls backwards onto his bed, his back hitting the mattress with a thump. Jungwon groans again, holding his phone in front of his face and squinting at the screen. His chat with you is open and the cursor in the empty text box blinks at him.
Oh, fuck it, he thinks. What’s the worst that could happen? You’re still friends; this is nothing more than a message he’s sending you. Besides, you and him have texted much weirder things to each other—like that time you sent him a picture of one of your favourite Thai BL actors posing shirtless and Jungwon replied by saying that he looked like he was about to sneeze. You didn’t talk to him for two weeks after that.
His fingers hover over the keyboard, and before he can overthink more than he already has, he types out a quick, casual message.
[Jungwon]: hey, do you have a sex?
Jungwon bites his lip, cheeks flushing red. Is he so nervous that he can’t even type out a simple three-letter abbreviation of a word correctly? He glares at his phone. Why are the letters x and c so close to each other? Someone should fix that. Thankfully, he hasn’t sent the message yet.
Jungwon shifts, trying to quickly delete the last letter and replace it with the right one. But with one sudden jerk, he drops his phone.
It falls straight onto his face, landing squarely on his nose. Jungwon curses under his breath, rubbing the stinging part and chucking his phone aside. A sudden ping from his phone makes him sit up straight immediately. Horror washes over him, along with an acute sense of mortification.
There’s no way he accidentally sent that message with the typo, right?
Wrong.
Gingerly, he picks up his phone.
[Y/N]: are u ok [Y/N]: do u have a fever or smtg
Jungwon’s cheeks heat up further. God, he’s so clumsy. You’re never going to let him live this down. He can picture you in his head, sitting on the swivel chair by your desk and actually laughing out loud at his typing mistake.
[Jungwon]: ?? unprovoked. all i did was make a typo.
[Y/N]: LMFAO. i want u 2 know that i have screenshotted this and it is now ready for me to use as blackmail material
He groans, running a hand through his hair.
[Jungwon]: yeah yeah whatever [Jungwon]: are you free right now?
[Y/N]: sure. what’s up?
Jungwon takes a deep breath, exhaling loudly through his nose. How on earth is he supposed to ask you how you want to be asked out to prom? He needs to be sneaky about this—he can’t make it blatantly obvious that he would like you to be his prom date.
[Jungwon]: can i call you?
[Y/N]: yea ok
You pick up almost immediately after he presses the call button next to your contact name.
“Hey.” Your voice sounds breathy on the phone, like you just jogged up your staircase before answering him. “So. What’s going on?”
“Do you want to watch Pride and Prejudice with me?” Jungwon asks as nonchalantly as he can.
“Um. Sure, I guess. Why?”
“English Literature. We need to do that book report, remember? I want to write about Pride and Prejudice. I’m just too lazy to read the whole book, so, you know—might as well watch the movie instead.” It’s a big, fat lie—he’s already finished his book report—but Jungwon thinks it’s worth it.
“Cheater,” you say. “I wonder what Mr. Yoon will think, knowing the star of the grade is a sneaky little cheapskate.”
Jungwon rolls his eyes. “It’s not that deep. It’s just a book report.”
“Sure, sure. Is there any specific topic you want to write about?”
Fiddling with the sleeves of his shirt, he lies again. “Kind of. I want to write about romance—like, any classic novel which is based on romance.”
You hum. “That’s easy, then. Literally all classic novels are about romance. Except maybe Charles Dickens’ stuff.”
“Yeah,” Jungwon says, “which is why Pride and Prejudice is a really good choice. You can never go wrong with Jane Austen.”
“Yes, but won’t everyone think the same and go with Jane Austen too?” you say contemplatively. “You need something that would stand out.”
He sucks on a tooth, a triumphant grin forming on his lips. “Any ideas?”
“How about Little Women by Louisa May Alcott?” you suggest. “I know it’s not mainly about romance, but I think Jo and Laurie’s falling out and Amy and Laurie making up is really sweet. That bit mainly happens in Good Wives, but I think that’s just a technicality.” After a pause, you add, “I mean, not that bit about Jo and Laurie falling out; that sucks.”
Jungwon chuckles. “Yeah, I get what you mean.”
“I think it’s pretty cool that Laurie finally realises Amy’s the one for him, after all those years of her pining over him.”
Jungwon stills, thinking over your words. It almost feels as though you described his feelings towards you in one sentence. He’s liked you since middle school, and with high school almost coming to an end now that both of you are in your senior year, he figures it’s a pretty long time.
“Okay,” he says softly. “I’ll do Little Women.”
“Okay.” Your voice is soft too.
THREE
“Quiet stuff,” Jungwon tells Riki decidedly, the next day. “She likes quiet, romantic gestures. Nothing big or fancy.”
“Wow,” Riki says, highlighting a word in his notebook with neon yellow. It hurts Jungwon’s eyes, but Riki claims it helps him remember. “How did you find out?”
“I just know.”
The other boy pauses for a moment, staring at Jungwon. Then he nods, seemingly impressed. “You sure seem to know a lot about Y/N.”
“She’s my best friend,” Jungwon says.
“Sure. Which is why you need my help to ask her out. Since, y’know, she’s your best friend and all.”
He rolls his eyes at Riki’s sarcasm, before leaning forward on his elbows. The library is pretty empty at this time, but Jungwon doesn’t want to break the silence by talking unnecessarily loudly. “So what should I do?”
His friend huffs and wrinkles his nose. “Flowers,” he says after a moment.
“Really? Isn’t that… a bit cliché?”
“Like you would know, casanova,” Riki snorts. “Would you rather grab a bunch of bananas and write ‘I’m bananas for you, go to prom with me?’ on them with a Sharpie and give it to Y/N?”
Jungwon cringes. “Okay, okay. I get what you mean.” He sighs, staring down at the mahogany table and tracing stars on the worn-out wood. “But I want to be more original, you know what I mean? Flowers are nice but too overused.”
“Okay.” Riki taps his finger on the table. “I’m out of ideas. What do you have in mind?”
“Well,” Jungwon begins slowly, attempting his best oh-thou-art-my-saviour expression and aiming it at Riki, “I was hoping you could distract her tomorrow, while you, me, Y/N, and Sunoo try to get the gymnasium ready for the decoration team. Just, sort of keep her occupied while I try to figure something out.”
Riki narrows his eyes. “Are you planning to seduce her while I’m talking to her? ‘Cause that’s a really shitty plan, even for you, Yang. And more importantly, what do I get in return?”
“No,” Jungwon hisses, cheeks burning. “I’m not going to seduce her, don’t be dumb. And I’ll give you free passes to the basketball regionals next month. I know you’ve been wanting to diss the opposing team ever since they beat you and our soccer team last year.”
“Fine. But I want two passes. Jake’s been really antsy about it, too.”
“Done.” Jungwon holds his hand out, and Riki shakes it with his. “Thank you, Riki.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he waves him away, uncapping his obnoxiously bright yellow highlighter again. “Go get your girl.”
Jungwon smiles. He certainly plans to.
FOUR
There’s a God-awful stench in the gymnasium.
You, Jungwon, Riki, and another friend of yours, Kim Sunoo, stand at the entrance, bags hanging loosely off your shoulders and identical expressions of disgust on your faces.
The gymnasium is more or less a huge rectangle on the first floor of your school building. Rough wooden floors and cream-coloured cement walls make the place appear like the inside of a cardboard box. It isn’t used much—Coach Kim prefers to take P.E classes in the large turf outside. Only occasionally, for events such as prom or Graduation Day, the school administration decides to host its guests in the gym, which is why Jungwon needs to clear it out by next week.
“Okay, it smells like someone just farted,” you say.
“Wasn’t me,” Jungwon comments off-handedly. He is the first one to brave the gymnasium, dropping his bag next to the door and striding inwards while bringing a hand up to pinch his nose.
“They say that the one who smelt it, dealt it,” Riki says, glancing suspiciously at you.
“They also say that the one who denied it, supplied it,” you retort. Riki’s suspicious gaze immediately averts to Jungwon, who’s busy peering into a box placed at a corner of the room.
Sunoo drops his bag on the floor and takes a cautious step inside. “I think I know where it’s coming from. Coach Kim sometimes leaves his used shirts in that box over there.” He points at the box Jungwon is occupied with.
Jungwon picks up a dirty, orange gym shirt from inside the box, wrinkling his nose and holding it as far away from his body as his fully-stretched arms would allow. You place your bag next to his and walk to him. Behind you, Riki follows you.
“How long has that even been here?” Riki asks.
Sunoo shrugs, standing by the corner opposite Jungwon. He’s sticking so close to the wall, it looks as though someone applied permanent glue all over his back and pressed him against the cement surface. “Days, weeks, maybe even years. Who knows? No wonder no one uses the gym.”
You step closer to Jungwon, and immediately regret it. The stench wafts around you, making you clap your hand to your nose and mouth. “Gross. I’m not touching that.”
“Lucky for you, you’re not the one holding it.” Jungwon flashes a sour look at you, and you give him an apologetic smile. “Sunoo,” he calls out. “Can you take this to the incinerator? Riki, Y/N and I will get started on moving all the yoga mats.”
Sunoo whines, “Why me?” But he peels himself off the wall anyway and takes the shirt from Jungwon, tilting his head away from it.
“Thanks.” Jungwon smiles gratefully at him.
You look at all the yoga mats strewn around the wooden floor. Dust and old balls of hair stick to each one of the faded rubber mats. You place your hands on your waist; you have a lot of work cut out for you.
“Okay,” Jungwon says, “Let’s get started. Riki, you and Y/N start moving the mats to the corner. I’ll get the broom so we can clean things up a bit.”
You smile at him. Jungwon’s leadership skills are no joke—there’s a reason he was elected class president, after all. He has a way of getting things done without seeming bossy or rude. He values everyone’s opinion and doesn’t make anyone feel bad about themselves.
He is kind, compassionate and caring, and makes people comfortable around him. Being his best friend for over ten years has only made you appreciate him more and more with each passing day. And eventually, that appreciation turned into a crush, which you’ve been harbouring for a long, long time. You only hope that someday, he sees you the way you see him. Just like how Laurie finally looked at Amy.
Jungwon slips away, heading downstairs to the janitor’s closet, just as Sunoo appears again, hands devoid of Coach Kim’s smelly shirt. You and Riki exchange smiles, and Sunoo joins you two, brushing his hands on his pants.
FIVE
When Jungwon enters the gymnasium again, broom and dustpan in hand, the first thing he sees is you laughing at something Nishimura Riki said.
He feels something flare up in his chest—a tiny prick of something sharp that makes him grip the broom tighter. This is stupid, he tells himself. You asked Riki to play wingman for you.
He sees Sunoo standing a bit away, hands on his hips and lips pursed as he observes the pile of mats the three of you had cleared. Jungwon walks over to him.
Sunoo brightens as soon as he sees him. “Hey, Jungwon. What do we do with these?”
“Uh, I think we can roll them up and take them to the storage room sometime later. Right now—” he hefts the broom and the dustpan— “we need to clean this whole place up.”
“Got it.” Sunoo nods. “Hey, why don’t Riki and I take the mats down while you and Y/N clean up? Things will get done faster that way.”
“Sure. I’ll call Riki over and tell him.” Jungwon smiles gratefully at his friend, before walking over to you and Riki.
You grin at him as soon as you see him approaching, and Jungwon’s heart lifts like a hot-air balloon. “Hello, Yang,” you greet him. “Finally back with the broom, I see.”
“Very funny,” he deadpans, letting the broom drop down on the floor by his feet. He jerks his thumb backwards. “Riki, Sunoo needs your help.”
Riki mock-salutes, flashing you a smile before heading over to Sunoo. You pick up the broom. “I take it I need to help you clean, right?”
Jungwon nods. “Do you want the broom or the dustpan?”
“I’ll start off with the broom,” you offer. “We can take turns.” You move to a corner of the gym, wasting no time in sweeping the place to the best of your abilities.
Jungwon folds his arms and waits for you to collect a sizable amount of dust before leaning down and holding the dustpan for you to sweep everything in. It’s only then that he notices the tight grip you have on the handle, and the slight hunch of your shoulders. He frowns worriedly.
“Y/N?” he says. “Is everything okay?”
You glance at him with mild surprise, moving over to another area and starting to sweep. “Yeah? Why wouldn’t everything be fine?”
He raises an eyebrow. “Other than the fact that you look like you’re about to break the broom with nothing but brute force?”
You purse your lips and straighten up, loosening your hold on the broom’s handle. Jungwon offers a hand, ready to take the broom from you and give you a break.
When you make no move to hand it to him, his eyes crease with concern. “Hey, seriously—what’s wrong?”
You hesitate before admitting, “I think Riki is going to ask me out to prom.”
A sudden chill washes over Jungwon, and he can feel it deep inside his chest. He stills, blood pounding in his ears and his heart racing like he just took part in a track and field race.
“What—” he swallows— “what makes you think that?”
“It’s just—I’m probably overthinking it, I don’t know—but he seemed really into me, you know?” Your gaze drops to your shoes. “He was coming onto me pretty strong when you left. He used, like, three pickup lines on me, I think. They were all really bad, too.”
That little piece of shit, Jungwon curses in his head. He should’ve known better than to trust that sly little imbecile to butter you up for his promposal.
(Admittedly, Jungwon still doesn’t have a concrete plan, but he was thinking of taking you to your favourite ice cream parlour after school and popping the question over a shared chocolate chip sundae—assuming he worked up enough nerve by then, that is.)
Instead, he says, “W-wow. I can’t believe it.” Can’t believe he’s hitting on you when he knows I have a crush on you, he wants to add.
You chuckle nervously, pushing a flyaway strand of hair away from your eyes. “Me neither, honestly. I feel bad now, because I have to turn him down.”
“Why’s that?” he asks, pushing down the jealousy that threatens to creep into his throat.
“There’s someone else I would like to go to prom with, if I had the chance,” you explain shyly.
“Oh,” is all Jungwon can say. A million thoughts start whirring inside his head. What if you didn’t want to go with him? What if someone—the person you wanted to go with—asked you first and you said yes? What if—
Riki and Sunoo saunter back in, having hauled all the yoga mats to the storage room. Jungwon narrows his eyes.
“Give me a sec,” he tells you.
SIX
It wasn’t that hard to corner Nishimura Riki after all. All Jungwon had to do was ask Sunoo and you to check if there were any spare buckets and mops in the janitor’s closet and if there were, to fill the buckets up with water so you could mop the place.
Once you and the other boy exit, Jungwon advances on his friend menacingly. Riki—clearly noticing the sudden tension in the air—gulps and takes a step back.
“Hey, what’s with that face?” Riki tries to mask his sudden fear with light-heartedness. “I spoke to Y/N while you were getting the broom. She totally thinks you’re going to ask her out, by the way; you should thank me.”
Truthfully, he has no clue what he’s done wrong. But the best solution to everything is to play dumb, so that’s exactly what he does.
“Oh, really?” Jungwon’s face is eerily calm. “You’ve got her convinced, I’d say.”
“Y-yeah, I guess. I mean, I wouldn’t put it that way, but—”
“You didn’t let me finish,” he interrupts.
Riki takes another step back, raising his palms placatingly. He opens his mouth, but upon seeing the way Jungwon’s eyes flash, no words come out.
“You’ve got her convinced that you’re going to ask her out to prom instead of me, idiot!”
The words tumble out of Jungwon’s mouth, heavy and scalding. He’s pissed off—rightfully so, seeing as the self-proclaimed “love expert” knows jack-shit about romance. Riki could give the trolls from Frozen a run for their money.
For once, Nishimura Riki is speechless. He closes his mouth, and then opens it, but closes it again. Jungwon gives up the tough boy act, letting his shoulders slump down and his head hang.
“For once,” he mumbles, “I thought shit would go the right way for me and Y/N. The way I’ve always wanted it to, at least.”
A twinge of guilt makes the other boy’s eyes widen with sympathy. Riki messed up—big-time—and now there’s no choice but for him to fix it.
“You can tell Y/N I have no intention of going to prom with her,” he says. “I already have a date.”
Jungwon’s head shoots up. “You do?! You never told me.”
“That’s because I asked him five minutes ago.”
“That’s awesome, Riki.” Jungwon gives him a genuine smile, though his eyes betray his disappointment. “I’m really happy for you, you deserve—wait, him?”
“Yeah. I asked Sunoo if he wanted to go with me as friends. Neither of us could find a date, so we just decided to go together. The other option was going with my mom.”
“Oh. Good for you, then.”
“Maybe, but right now, we’re talking about you and your love life—”
“Which you screwed up for me.”
“—which is currently a wreck,” the boy finishes, disregarding Jungwon’s interruption. “Leave it up to me, Jungwon. I’ll fix this.”
Jungwon raises an unimpressed eyebrow. “You really expect me to believe that?”
“No,” he admits, “but I swear I will fix this. I’m sorry I screwed up.”
The other boy pauses and considers, carefully observing Riki. Finally, he nods. “Fine, I believe you. Besides, if you screw up again, I’ll just revoke your basketball tickets.”
Riki blanches, and Jungwon lets his lips curl up with the taste of sweet, sweet victory.
SEVEN
Riki shepherds you and Jungwon into an empty classroom, opening the door for you and shoving Jungwon in when he looked quizzically at the boy. Calm down, he mouths. It does absolutely nothing to calm Jungwon down; his eyes widen comically.
“Okay, impromptu meeting.” Riki claps his hands, a slow, sly grin spreading on his lips. You open your mouth to say something, but Riki doesn’t let you speak. “And by that, I mean you two are going to talk.”
Jungwon starts, “This is how you plan to fix—”
Riki slams the door shut, twisting the doorknob from outside. You hear a click. Jungwon looks at you, huffing out a breath exasperatedly. You tilt your head, extremely confused. “Why did he lock us in?”
“Beats me.” But he sounds resigned, as though he already knows what’s going to happen. It does nothing to ease your bewilderment.
“Okay, listen up!” Riki calls from outside. “I don’t have much time because I need to get all of this out before Sunoo comes back from the restroom. Y/N, I’m sorry I had to lock you up, but Jungwon’s a real airhead, so I’m doing his job for him.”
(Jungwon rolls his eyes at that, but for some reason, doesn’t meet your eyes. You lean back on a desk, crossing your arms and trying to figure out what, exactly, Nishimura Riki is playing at.)
Riki continues, “Yes, people consider me the all-knowing expert on love, but the truth is, every single couple I predicted was just a wild guess—it helped my reputation if they got together, but there was no science or anything behind it.”
(You nod. It’s such an obvious fact that you’re surprised no one’s ever noticed it before. Jungwon shrinks into himself, head down and arms wrapped around himself. You wonder what he’s thinking.)
“But if there’s one couple that I am sure about—” He pauses. “Let’s just say they’re meant to be, and everyone knows it. And… I would be a real fucking idiot if I didn’t try my best with them.”
(You feel your heart burst into a million golden pieces, in a way that fills you with joy and hope and nervousness all at once. You stare, dumbfounded, at your best friend, willing your heart to piece itself back together. It doesn’t work; you’re not sure you want it to. Jungwon slowly glances up, but just as quickly, he moves his gaze down again.)
“Y/N, Jungwon really likes you. He’s liked you for a long, long time. He wants to go to prom with you.”
(If happiness could be personified, you would be its personification.)
You hear the shuffling of footsteps and deduce that Riki has left—presumably to give you two some privacy. And for you and Jungwon to talk, because you still need to clear the air between you both. (You also want to hear him say he likes you; a bit self-indulgent, you suppose, but people have dreams.)
“Is it true?” you ask, trying your best to appear nonchalant, as though you haven’t just found out the love of your fucking life likes you back.
Jungwon still doesn’t meet your gaze. “Yeah,” he mumbles, so softly, you need to strain your ears to hear him over the deafening silence.
Boldly, you take a step towards him. And another, and one more, until your knees bump against his.
“Yang Jungwon,” you say—and your closeness forces him to look at you— “you are an absolute idiot.”
He swallows. “I know. Look, I’m sorry, okay? You don’t have to say anything, you don’t have to reciprocate my feelings or anything. I’m fine with being just friends, because I would rather be something for you than nothing at all, and—”
You cut him off by pressing your lips to his.
When you pull away—just a peck would suffice, you think—his eyes are wide. “Oh, my God,” he squeaks, “you just kissed me.”
You giggle, endeared by his sudden shyness. “It appears so.”
He pulls you close, fingers encircling your wrist and his other hand resting on your waist. “Can I do it again?”
“Later,” you promise. “Right now… we need to talk.”
Jungwon nods. “Well, what’s there to say? I’ve liked you since middle school.”
“I’ve liked you since the eighth grade,” you confess. “It was so painful, thinking you didn’t like me back. You are the one I want to go to prom with, by the way. And my favourite book is Little Women because I could relate to Amy so much.” You let out an embarrassed laugh. “I felt like I was her, waiting for Laurie to look at her the way he looked at Jo.”
He sucks in a breath. “Maybe if you’d opened your eyes a little wider, you would know that I’ve been looking at you that way all along.”
You smile, letting his words seep into your heart and engrave themselves into your soul. He smiles back, squeezing your hand.
“We should probably thank Riki afterwards,” you say. “I bet he’s really happy that one of his couples didn’t turn out to be a fluke.”
“Later,” Jungwon says, echoing your words. His eyes flicker to your lips and back. “I just really wanna kiss you right now.”
“So,” you challenge him, “do it.”
Jungwon leans forward and captures your lips with his, his mouth moving gently against yours. You bring your hands up and place them around his neck, carding your fingers through the hair against the nape of his neck. Time seems to still, and you and Jungwon appear to move in slow-motion.
When he pulls away, he knocks his forehead against yours, smiling widely. “Go to prom with me?”
Your answer is on the tip of your tongue. “Of course.”
Jungwon’s heart swells, and he swoops in and kisses you again. Riki may be right; he may be an airhead when it comes to romance sometimes, but right now, Jungwon feels like he’s on top of the world.

You spent the next week on edge, tiptoeing around the apartment. A part of you hoped there wouldn’t be any awkwardness or tension after you practically pounced on him, crossing the barrier that best friends, and roommates especially, weren’t supposed to. But you were foolish to assume that once Jake came down from his high, he wouldn’t start avoiding you at all costs.
It was painfully obvious. He would come home late at night, only coming to the kitchen to eat while you were in the shower, and locking himself in his room until you left for class the next morning. You couldn’t help but assume he regretted what happened, and you felt an ugly twist in your stomach at the thought that he didn’t enjoy any of it, or worse, that you had pressured him into the act.
You were quietly cracking open the door to your bedroom, wanting to quickly grab something from the kitchen when the door to Jake’s room, directly across from yours, also opened. You stopped in your tracks, making brief eye contact with him before you were directing your gaze to the floor. If he hadn’t seen you, you probably would’ve closed the door and crawled back into your room.
The pounding of your heart was ringing in your ear. As much as you hated confrontation, you hated the idea of walking on eggshells around your own damn roommate and best friend. The least you both could do was talk it out, deem it a one-time mistake and try to forget about it. You took a deep breath and squeezed your eyes shut, leaning against the doorframe.
“Fuck it,” you breathed out. “About last week…”
“Yeah,” he was blurting out before you could even continue.
You were looking up at him now. He was fresh out of the shower, hair wet and towel wrapped around his neck. Droplets of water forming at the ends of his hair were beginning to fall beside his bare feet from his prolonged stance in the same position. He didn’t miss the way your eyes trailed along the veins that ran up his bare arms.
You tore your eyes away from his body to make eye contact with him, mentally cursing at yourself for feeling more and more turned on as the seconds passed. However, while you expected him to look anxious or flustered, you found him looking at you with an unreadable expression, almost similar to how he watched you last week, with you on your knees in front of him and his hands buried in your hair.
You were unconsciously rubbing your thighs together and shifting uncomfortably on your feet from his intense stare. A sudden wave of confidence washed over you before you were closing your own door and striding into Jake’s, pulling him with you by his bicep. The familiar lights from his PC gave you a sense of deja vu.
He tore your grip off him from behind you.
“I can’t do this anymore,” he whispered. You winced, thinking you had misread his intentions and were in the middle of making a fool of yourself.
Jake, on the other hand, was panicking over his inability to exert self control and how you’d react if you found out that he touched himself every night this week to the mental image of your pretty lips wrapped around him.
But it was Jake this time who was mouthing fuck it before he closed the gap between you, hands coming up to grab at the sides of your face and press his lips against yours. You audibly sighed into his mouth before you were a mess of tangled limbs in the sheets, clothes strewn in a trail leading from the door to his bed.
Jake tried his best not to ogle at your bare chest, instead looking down at his own cock, standing tall and proud against his abdomen.
You gaped, reminded of just how big he was.
Jake stopped his movements upon sensing your hesitance, wanting to make sure this was something you wanted and that he wasn’t overstepping any boundaries. He was kneeling on the bed, boxers thrown to the floor while you were lying flat, a pillow under your head.
“I, uh, I’ve never been able to get it in,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish look.
You threw your head back in laughter. “You mean, like, you couldn’t find her hole?” The thought of virgin Jake hopelessly struggling amused you, yet your heart softened at just how inexperienced he seemed.
He winced at your comment, softly chuckling as he shook his head. “No, like I could never fit it in with other girls before.”
Oh. You didn’t even realize that was an actual problem people had. Did that technically make him a virgin still?
You sat up on your elbows, heart racing at the implication. “What the hell makes you think I can take it, then?”
His eyes widened and he immediately shifted lower on the bed to pull at your underwear, ready to prep you. For some reason, he just assumed you’d be able to take him since you were experienced. He truly had no idea how big he was.
Your underwear was hooked just above your knees as he reached out, dragging two fingers up your folds to collect your arousal and bringing it to his lips. His tongue poked out the corner of his mouth as he licked at his digit, moaning in the process.
You pulled him by the wrist, his fingers reluctantly leaving his mouth. “What are you doing?”
“I’m gonna finger you first, needa stretch you out,”
“N-no, I can take it.”
“But you just said—”
“I said I can take it.”
The sudden thrill of a challenge, to see whether you were capable of taking all of him, sent a shiver down your spine.
He stared at the wet patch on the front of your underwear, running his index finger along it. “I wanna eat you out, though,” his lips in a pout. “You taste so good,” he was whining, eyes fixated on your glistening, leaking core.
Your heart did a somersault. “We have all the time in the world for that, Jake,” you couldn’t help but smile. “But I need you inside me— now,” you muttered, your expression quickly turning into one of sultry desperation.
“F-fuck, okay.”
His knees shifted forward as he aligned the head of his cock with your sopping cunt, pushing in at an excruciatingly slow pace. You feel like you’re being torn apart in the most delicious way, the stretch addicting and your mouth falls open at the sensation. You’re usually not great with pain, but you know it’ll all be worth it once Jake starts thrusting into you.
He finally bottomed out on top of you, a shaky breath releasing from his lips. You mentally thanked yourself for choosing this position, knowing very well that you wouldn’t have gotten this far if you were on top. Jake’s eyes were squeezed shut, a visible sheen of sweat across his forehead.
He was embarrassed to tell you directly, but with it being Jake’s first time, it was taking everything in him to not pull out and slam back into you. He wasn’t sure how long he could stay like this, your walls clamping onto him for dear life.
You swore you could feel him in your stomach. He was pulling out before you could complain, leaving just the tip in so he could compose himself and relieve some of the pain he assumed you were in. A whine left your lips, protesting as you hooked your legs around his waist and pulled him back inside you. He sobbed out a cry of your name, bottoming out again and hiding his face in your neck.
Your slick was doing wonders to aid his cock in and out of you. He licked and nipped between your collarbones as he kept a somewhat consistent pace, his cock nearly slipping out from your wetness each time he pulled back. Lifting his head from the crook of your neck, he peered down at you through hooded eyes, watching as you mumbled mindlessly.
“S-so full, mmph, need—ah, Jake, need you to fill me up, oh f-fuck y-yeah that’s it, harder!” Every word of yours was interrupted by a rhythmic, sharp thrust, causing you to inch back toward the headboard.
He chewed on his bottom lip, mesmerized at the sight of you falling apart on his cock.
“So perfect, such a perfect cock…” your voice came out in a purr. You were saying it mostly to yourself, yet Jake couldn’t help but moan out at how affected he was by your praise.
“Y/N, I-I t-thought you were gonna teach me, fuck,” he groaned, hips snapping at an increasing pace.
You shook your head, apologetic whines leaving your lips. There was nothing to teach him, at least nothing you could teach him in the state you were currently in.
The sight of you struggling, falling apart on his cock with tears of pleasure threatening to spill from the corner of your eyes, and the way your cries are beginning to sound more and more desperate brings him to full consciousness, awakening a sudden desire in him.
“Then take it back,” he grunted,
“Huh?” you were mumbling, eyes barely able to stay open.
“Take it back, what you said about not knowing how to use my dick,”
Your breath hitched at his sudden boldness and change of demeanor.
“Say it,”
You gulped down any remaining pride. “J-Jake, fuck, you’re so s-so good with your cock,” you whined. Technically, you were speaking the truth, but you liked it more when he didn’t know how good he was. You liked your boys a little dumb.
“I’m sorry, ‘n I-I take it back,” you mumbled. Jake let out a squeaky moan at your words. You removed your hands that were clawing at his back to pinch at your nipples while you squirmed under him, and he had to close his eyes again to keep himself from cumming.
His pace was faltering from his enthusiastic thrusts, completely lost in his own pleasure and your needy expressions. Reaching down to thumb at your neglected clit with the limited knowledge he had from previous experiences, he noticed a slight bulge against your skin.
You were writhing underneath him and he angled his hips upward with another experimental thrust, completely hypnotized by the view of his tip protruding right beneath your belly button. You let out a broken cry at the feeling, your climax building rapidly and waves of ecstasy washing over you as your walls spasmed from the combination of his fingers working against your clit and the weight of him pressing down on his bulge through your lower stomach.
Just as he was impressing himself at how long he’d managed to last, he’s being made aware of your notable size difference. It felt like he was filling you to the hilt with just half his cock pumping in and out of you. With one last clench around him as you began to come down from your high, he was spilling into you with a strained groan of your name, your tight cunt milking him dry.
