Another year and another moment to celebrate the most important person in some of our lives; our dearest mommas. No new Frisk and Toriel post this year, but I wanted to cross post the character sheets I uploaded to the Discord. There are still five more sheets I need to get through, but we’ll save that for Father’s Day.

are their any plans to show off other projects like the salt circle then just fawn related things?

Sorry I’m answering this super late. Tumblr is a bit wonky with the notifications after I turned off the follower alerts (I have been getting back to back bots flooding my notifications that it just became tiresome to block them all).

Will I expand to other projects? I have been thinking about it. It would be a lot of fun to draw the comparisons between the different Sans, Papyri, and Frisks/Charas. I’d also love to showcase the island and the odd infrastructure found within. I’m currently in a mood for experimentation, and I plan to release a blog post soon that will explore the different cultural aesthetics I wish to visually represent in my Undertale stories.

So! Will I expand? As of right now, I don’t know. I need to prove to myself that I can get this project done. If I reach that goal I’d be more than willing to move onto sketches and renditions for The Salt Circle. It would even be fun to recreate a chapter or two in comic form.

Post #14 - The Faces of Frisk

I went to my first convention this past weekend. It was definitely an experience seeing people in cosplay in real life—I even dared to dress up. While there, I came across so much inspiration for my art that sparks flew through my brain. It was definitely a much-needed trip.

So enough of that! I have finally gotten around to sketching out different ideas for Frisk. These are just rough drafts that mainly play around with hairstyles, (she will still wear the signature bangs and bob. Option B is simply my fun little way of showing her face) and skin shades. I'm open to keeping her a Simpsons yellow too so anyone can easily see themselves in her—or maybe not considering her circumstances lol!

Either way, I think it would be fun to vote on it! (once I figure out how to create a poll, that is).

The previous poll appears to be neck and neck with a suggested AU and an original AU (based on the comments and the poll numbers). We will create from scratch to keep things simple while heavily referencing Underfell, that way we are technically doing both options. Below are the results.

Thanks again to everyone who voted! Once I figure out how to embed a poll in this post I will make an edit to include it. In the meantime, if you like any of the options, feel free to comment, and your vote or suggestion will be noted.

Edit: I’m stupid, all I had to do was edit this post to get a poll in—not create a whole new one. Hahaha…

do we every find out who gastor was upset at? were they a skeleton? or retired colleague?

We will find out who this mysterious someone is, and eventually what happens to them, later on. It won’t be in this chapter though, so if I only draw this first one and write the rest we won’t get to have visuals on them. If I don’t draw anymore chapters I’ll be sure to at least draw this mysterious someone after they are revealed.

Will Chara play a more crucial role in Frisk's survival than just the seemingly split personality that took charge when Frisk felt overwhelmed by the assaults she was receiving?

You know, I’m not sure what to do with Chara. On one hand, I found the split personality had contributed to a lot of major plot points, mainly related to Toriel, but I also feel like Chara could do more. I have been debating on whether or not to change her backstory (again, I guess that would rely on the AU). Should she be removed altogether?

Maybe Chara was a victim of CSA and it contributed to her death, so as a result she returned as a spirit guide for Frisk? Maybe she isn’t dead at all, (nor is Asriel) and instead she’s a princess locked away in a tower because Asgore doesn’t want to kill her for her soul and he doesn’t want the rest of monsterkind to attempt it? But then we must ask the question of how the monsters were trapped in the first place, and why Toriel ran away (though, she was being abused by Asgore in Lugubriousity, but I doubt she is the type of mother who would leave that situation if she was unable to take her children with her)? Perhaps Chara (and Asriel) do live with Toriel and Asgore simply believes his family is dead?

I definitely want to do more with Chara, I simply need to figure out how to iron out the details. I’d love some suggestions if you have any. They honestly help tremendously.

Back from the Grave

Hello! It’s been 90 long neck-breaking years—or just one month, but I’m happy to be done with this round of edits for my novel.

I’m currently in a mood of absolute hatred towards that cursed book, and I just want nothing to do with it, but that could be due to all the dissection and reconstruction I had to suffer through. When I usually write fanfiction, I’ll get the rough draft done, and then do one edit (if I’m feeling pretty spicy I might do two) and then I post and instantly reap the reward of being done with a chapter for good.

With my original novel not only am I going back and do edit after edit, but I need to do it over the span of 300 pages, 70k words, and no long breaks in between. When I say I have never felt so overwhelmed by writing, well, I’ve never felt so overwhelmed by writing. And the editing is not fun on top of that, not at all, and this isn’t even the last round I need to do! And after I finish my part I still need to get a line/copywriter and then the beta readers, and then proofreader…it’s never-ending!

But, when I finally get to the end, there will be no greater feeling. I’ll feel so proud, so accomplished, because I would’ve done it. I would’ve published my own novel, and that alone reminds me that all this torturous work is well worth it.

There will be a new post for Fawn soon. Getting this project done will allow me to let out a major sigh of relief, because damnit, if I could just get a single chapter of a comic done that would be super ultra amazing. Once I finish with chapter 1, I’ve been debating changing course and trying to create a comic rendition of my Sonic fic—but God, if my Sonic Character drawing skills say hell no! Let’s not even…

Oh! And I almost forgot to include a song.

The title in the image does not say "Ai", but "AL". I just now noticed that it looks that way lol.

As I continue to update "The Worst Kinda Curse", I thought creating some concept art for Alphys' father, Al, would be fun. In the fic, he's described as big and imposing, but I have this habit of humanizing the monsters. So, I gave him two forms just to visually play around with different ideas. I like his color scheme as it reminds me of a rooster.

Would anyone care to see more sketches of characters from that story? I might make a few for "The Salt Circle" too.

We are finally getting started on the comic! Long time coming.

For those interested, the page dimensions are 6''x9'' inches with about a 0.5-inch border. This is standard sizing for a printed trade book. We can play around with different dimensions for spreads (likely 12''x9'' inches). Tumblr appears to favor print sizes over the typical webcomic scroll.

Any thoughts on the font used so far? On the page layout? I likely will not include comic sans/papyrus typefaces when the skeleton brothers are talking, though I am on the fence about this. I think it could either be a visual mess or a fun little nod to the game.
