In Lugubriosity, Frisk had two mothers, her bio mom, and Toriel. She definitely wouldn't have made it out of Papyrus' grips without Toriel's help and guidance. In Fawn, I want to introduce Toriel a bit earlier. Maybe her dynamic with the Serif Brothers will be the same. Maybe she would've never been friends with Sans to begin with (he is a violent drug addict). Maybe she doesn't live completely alone in the Ruins, but maybe the Ruins is another neighborhood?

So many ideas!

Also, I believe this is the final design for Frisk. What do you guys think?

I am so sorry for the past 2 weeks of silence! I was bit by the writing bug as I was in the middle of drawing page 3 that I had to stop everything and write a few things down...and a few things turned into a few pages, that turned into a few chapters, and now I'm about half way through a rough draft for an original novel!

That said, this project is not dead! I just needed to unplug for a bit to keep my focus in check. I hope to return to drawing after I finish this draft (just 9 more chapters currently). Once I'm done we'll pick up where we left off, and I'll make an attempt to at least get through the first two scenes before falling off the map again. Fingers crossed!

I swear I suck at accountability.

Post # I Lost Count - Life Update? Yay!

So, I’m aware this isn’t a personal blog, and I don’t exactly want to make it one of those, but I need to vent a bit, my friends have a lot going on in their lives that what I’m about to complain about will seem like small potatoes, and I don’t have any other social media. So, this Undertale Tumblr blog will just have to do.

For the last month and a half I’ve been attempting to get a business off the ground. I have all the documentations and legal whatnots, but what’s been holding me back is the flipping website. Maybe I’m cheap, maybe I’m just too prideful, but I decided I would build the site myself completely by scratch with zero knowledge of HTML, or CSS, or any of that. I’ve managed it. The little creative spirit in me picked up the basics after many hours of trial and error (now ask me to solve a simple math equation and you’ll see how intellectually inept I am). Amazing news, right? This website had its foot on my neck for weeks now, and this morning I was finally victorious!

Until I wasn’t.

I sent the site to my friend to test, and on mobile whenever you scrolled down it would zoom the page way out into the void. I thought I’d put back on my handy dandy hard hat and make a simple tweak here, and little change there—I fucked the whole thing up beyond repair, and I didn’t make a proper backup of the site, so now I need to start from scratch!

Well, not completely, but all the fancy code I added needs to be redone, and to be frank, um no. Not doing that shit again, so I’m just gonna have a basic ass website and call it day for now because the longer it’s taking me to mess with this thing, the longer I’m not launching my business. The little procrastinating, self-doubting, coward in me is super happy that I now have an excuse not to move forward and do this thing. Too bad since I spent too much money to just quit now.

All that said, I’ve been missing Discord lately. I’m currently only in one server, but I’d love to join another one, preferably something small and fandom focused. I’m fine with any of the fandoms I have written for (so far Undertale, Sonic, and TMNT, but you can add in ATLA too. Plus, I like some “adult” shows—whatever the fuck that means. Actually, I don’t watch much television, so that is a lie).

If anyone wants to send some servers my way I’d love that a bunch! I used to run several Discord servers back during lockdown, and I definitely do not want to do that again. Too much work that I currently can’t keep up with, but having a chill place to discuss fandom stuff, or creative projects, or fucked up websites that break on you when you change one line of code, is something I’ve been craving lately.

♫ - What I’m currently listening to.

The above (if it sends right) is a good example of the scrolling format I'd love to use. I rewrote a ton of things, as well as changed the narrator to add a bit of that UT charm. What do you think about the coloring? Do you think it's too dull, too harsh? Too messy, or not messy enough?

Maybe it's fine and I'm just over-exaggerating.

The title in the image does not say "Ai", but "AL". I just now noticed that it looks that way lol.

As I continue to update "The Worst Kinda Curse", I thought creating some concept art for Alphys' father, Al, would be fun. In the fic, he's described as big and imposing, but I have this habit of humanizing the monsters. So, I gave him two forms just to visually play around with different ideas. I like his color scheme as it reminds me of a rooster.

Would anyone care to see more sketches of characters from that story? I might make a few for "The Salt Circle" too.

Okay, I need a bit of consistency in the comic, so I decided to just quickly sketch up a base idea of what each character (well the main three) should look like throughout. I'm still stuck on finding a good skin shade for Frisk. I know she's supposed to be dark skin, but I still want the hint of that yellow we see the original model have—gah! Maybe we should just forget about adding a hint of yellow and just keep her a very realistic human color? Is the color above realistic? I think it looks okay, but then I don't. I'm too indecisive. This will just have to be a future me problem.

Also! Drawing Sans sucks major balls. My brain wants to draw a skull, like a human skull, but you see, Sans does not have a human skull. He has a cartoon character skull—face actually because I swear to God, its just... I can't do what I did with Papyrus (God, I enjoy drawing Papyrus). We can't go all realistic for Sans otherwise he doesn't flipping look like Sans! He looks like some random skeleton unrelated to Undertale. He has this stupid peanut head that I just want to squeeze and watch it pop! Fuck Sans. Fuck Sans right to hell.

Wow, I feel so much better after getting that off my chest.

Anyway, I was going to include this whole explanation of how much I want the setting of the Underground to be super low income Americana, inner-city in some areas, rural trailer park in others, motel baby, RV vagabonds bumming gas from strangers, blah, blah, blah. Would this be moving far away from base Undertale? Sure, I guess. Yeah, maybe. Do people want to see me bring all my transgressive edgelord shit into a very unrelated franchise? I suppose that's a yes? I mean, I did a bit of that with Lugubriosity, but I'm talking about going all out with my art and this story. I've been holding back, trying to keep things to what people are used to? God, I don't know, but I really wanna explore more. I want to get dirty and grimy with my artwork, spread my fuzzy moth wings and tear into some old fabric in the nearest linen closet, you know, not so pretty.

Here are few inspirational pictures for what I mean:

I love it. I wanna draw it, write about it, just consume it in all my media. But is it appropriate for Undertale? Perhaps not. Perhaps so. I'm torn on what I want to do, and now I'm just ranting and rambling. Half of me wishes I just stuck to writing, but then another half really wants to see this story visualized.

I guess I should just get the rough draft done and see what happens next. I already butchered this beloved franchise so what's a little more? I'm curious if others care to see this in the story? Otherwise, I could just get super dark and dirty with an original idea whenever I get around to it.

Will Chara play a more crucial role in Frisk's survival than just the seemingly split personality that took charge when Frisk felt overwhelmed by the assaults she was receiving?

You know, I’m not sure what to do with Chara. On one hand, I found the split personality had contributed to a lot of major plot points, mainly related to Toriel, but I also feel like Chara could do more. I have been debating on whether or not to change her backstory (again, I guess that would rely on the AU). Should she be removed altogether?

Maybe Chara was a victim of CSA and it contributed to her death, so as a result she returned as a spirit guide for Frisk? Maybe she isn’t dead at all, (nor is Asriel) and instead she’s a princess locked away in a tower because Asgore doesn’t want to kill her for her soul and he doesn’t want the rest of monsterkind to attempt it? But then we must ask the question of how the monsters were trapped in the first place, and why Toriel ran away (though, she was being abused by Asgore in Lugubriousity, but I doubt she is the type of mother who would leave that situation if she was unable to take her children with her)? Perhaps Chara (and Asriel) do live with Toriel and Asgore simply believes his family is dead?

I definitely want to do more with Chara, I simply need to figure out how to iron out the details. I’d love some suggestions if you have any. They honestly help tremendously.

Post #24 - Lugubriousity Rewrite

First, I want to thank everyone for such warm reception for the last page of chapter one of FAWN. Seeing all the reblogs and likes just lit up my whole week.

Now onto the topic of this blog. As I was reading through Lugubriousity to prepare for the next chapter of the comic, I realized just how sloppy the story is. Yes, I know this very fact is the reason I started this project in the first place, but I feel so compelled to just clean things up, make it better. That’s what I’m currently doing. I will be releasing a PDF containing the first part of the story soon, before moving onto the second part, and lastly the third part sometime afterwards. I already wrote three new chapters for the beginning of part one, and I’m in the process of editing the rest to create a more comprehensive narrative.

The characters are going to have personalities much closer to canon, the setting of the Underground is more expanded and complex, and I will hopefully rid the fic of its many plot holes. Oh! And it’s no longer told in the Underfell universe, but a standalone one uniquely for Lugubriousity/FAWN. All previous tags still apply, so major content warning. I’m excited to get this out for readers to enjoy.

These 3 PDFs will be the new “canon” narrative that the comics will draw from.

That doesn’t mean I will be taking down the original, no not at all! It will stay up on Ao3 for all to read and enjoy, and in order for me to track my writing progress.

Now I have a question for you guys; should I upload the rewrite to Ao3, or only stick with the PDF copies that anyone can pass around and do with as they wish (beyond sell since I believe that is illegal for fanfiction)?
