"I will be going on hiatus on March 15th to edit an original novel." what the novel?
Yes! I will be starting draft 2 of edits on my original novel on that date. It might take me longer than draft 1 since my only focus on the first go was getting the base story on the page. The sentence structures and proses went completely ignored, so you can imagine the state it’s currently in.
I won’t reveal the title of the novel as, currently, I think it’s best to separate my real life pen name from the fanfics, but it will have a lot of the usual elements I write about, just toned down a bit. I love magical realism, and I adore writing about the supernatural; monstrous creatures in our world. I also love writing about the real dark struggles everyday people face. The gritty, the gruesome, the gory too! My bookshelf is filled to the brim with transgressive stories, so much so that I currently have towers of books near my desk that I haven’t yet read, and that I don’t have room for, but felt compelled to buy. It’s an addiction for sure, so I think the darker, icky parts of life will never escape my stories even if I’m writing about 8 feet tall eyeball-headed angels with long sharp fingers and polished marble skin, or aliens, or skeletons because I love skeletons and one day I’ll have a story that I can publish that totally has not-Sans and not-Papyrus in it.
The original novel will have a lot of what you might be used to in my fics, so even though I cannot share the series title or my author name, once book one is published, who knows? You just might come across it in the wild and recognize the themes I love to write about, and if you do, it’ll be a second chance encounter. :)
has gastor even done scans of the fallen children bones? and has papyrus ask for a copy for creepy reasons?
Good question! I’d say yes Gaster has, but Papyrus hasn’t yet found them. He’ll be in for a pleasant surprise once he does. Just the simple image of little bones (even dead ones) will bring him back to the first time he watched that cygnet twirl.
how long will the hiatus be?
If all goes according to plan, (and so far so good) I should get a chapter done a day--perhaps two chapters a day for the shorter ones. This edit is only to ensure the plot makes sense, the story is engaging, and the characters are consistent. I'm sticking very closely to notes, and once again, not focusing too much on grammar and prose.
All that to say; this hiatus should be about a month, give or take. Of course, nothing is certain, and I will need to fatten up a couple of chapters which could take a bit more time. Even if a few chapters take me two days to complete I should still get it done in the one month time span since the story has only 24 chapters. :)

I want to wish everyone reading this a very warm holiday! We are about two and a half weeks into this project and going strong. I have also noticed that comments are coming in from the poll, and I appreciate every single one. Please accept my gift of Asgore as he tries not to stare into your soul.
I also want to give @brainsontheground a very special thank you for helping me sort out what exactly to do with Papyrus and Undyne. A lot of very good suggestions were made that I'm excited to share with you soon.

And that makes the end of scene 2! I wanted to get the first page of scene 3 out before my hiatus, but we'll need to wait until I return. We have about 3-2.5 more scenes to go. I'm excited to make it through the drafting process. If I stick to my plan, chapter 1 will be about 25 pages, give or take. Once that's done, we will start to color. I'm thinking about using the same coloring technique as this post.
Anyway, wish me luck on draft 2 of my book! Hopefully, it doesn't take me too long.
See you soon! :)

I want to start by saying that this exercise (found here) was easy enough to complete during the few down hours I had today, so it makes for a decent warm-up. We were to sketch out a few cityscape silhouettes using basic shapes and then detail the best one. I made only three sketches and picked the silhouette that I found fit the Underground aesthetic the most.
This exercise was fun!
It definitely helped to better shape the skeleton of a city in a quick, yet appealing, manner. Despite that, I feel like I could've done more today, but I'm at least patting myself on the back for getting a blog post out there (the bare minimum, I know). I had such little time to do much today. I hadn't yet researched the map of the Underground or really taken a moment to find noteworthy references. Hopefully, with a bit more time on my hands, we can start strong tomorrow by finishing the Clipstudio tutorial.
Gah! I give up.

I went to my first convention this past weekend. It was definitely an experience seeing people in cosplay in real life—I even dared to dress up. While there, I came across so much inspiration for my art that sparks flew through my brain. It was definitely a much-needed trip.
So enough of that! I have finally gotten around to sketching out different ideas for Frisk. These are just rough drafts that mainly play around with hairstyles, (she will still wear the signature bangs and bob. Option B is simply my fun little way of showing her face) and skin shades. I'm open to keeping her a Simpsons yellow too so anyone can easily see themselves in her—or maybe not considering her circumstances lol!
Either way, I think it would be fun to vote on it! (once I figure out how to create a poll, that is).
The previous poll appears to be neck and neck with a suggested AU and an original AU (based on the comments and the poll numbers). We will create from scratch to keep things simple while heavily referencing Underfell, that way we are technically doing both options. Below are the results.
Thanks again to everyone who voted! Once I figure out how to embed a poll in this post I will make an edit to include it. In the meantime, if you like any of the options, feel free to comment, and your vote or suggestion will be noted.
Edit: I’m stupid, all I had to do was edit this post to get a poll in—not create a whole new one. Hahaha…

In the interest of preventing this blog from becoming a place to dump my fanart, I have put together a loose roadmap so I (and you) know what stages are ahead. I will go into more detail in individual posts a little later.
Starting off, I obviously need a story. I have an idea of what I want this first chapter to be, (and when speaking only in terms of the comic, the first chapter is what mainly matters) but it’s the finer details that are still lost on me.
What AU will I use? Will the story be a sequel or a reboot? Should the different resets factor into this fanfic, or should Papyrus be a pedo from his very inception?
For the sake of not complicating matters too much, I will ignore these questions, (bad idea, I know) and instead the above roadmap will only focus on the skeletal structure (heh) of the fanfic. We’re building the foundation of the world, establishing characters in relation to each other, throwing in a bit of foreshadowing for later, and that will be about it. We’ll consider the meat and potatoes as the story develops further, and that will be beyond the comic.
What joy plotting can be.
