Arcane a show where every gay person wins
I love when platonic love and romantic love is so blurred that it doesn’t even matter anymore. All that matters is the devotion that’s there, the unwavering devotion
There is no prize to perfection… only an end to pursuit.
"They will never let a black man be Captain America."
-Isaiah Bradley
No, Sam doesn’t want to be Captain America. He never wanted it.
He didn’t dream of the shield. He did not beg to be chosen. This shield was given to him by Steve Rogers, the man who represented the ideal of Captain America. It wasn’t a reward. It was a transmission, an act of trust.
But Sam, he doesn’t mare about being a « symbol ». He doesn’t seek recognition. He just wants to do what’s right. And this shield, he accepted it to honor a promise. Not to represent a nation that has too often erased, humiliated and crushed those who look like it.
He knows what it means, being a black man in America. And why should he want to represent a country that, for centuries, refused to represent men like him? Why should he brandish a shield that, during all this time, has protected only a few? Why he should want to wear the colors of a nation that has locked up, tortured, erased Isaiah Bradley, a black soldier, a héros
Isaiah is right: America never wanted a black Captain America. It wanted a clean, white, smooth symbol. Not the truth. We need to talk. Especially to you, fans. We must stop beating around the bush Many of you did not want Sam Wilson as Captain America. Not because he’s not strong enough. Not because he is not worthy. But because he is black. And that, must be said. You have to look him in the face. Because since the beginning, Sam has never asked for the shield. He did not want to become a symbol for a country that, let’s be honest, never wanted to see a black man as the face of “America”.
Isaiah said it clearly: « They will never let a black man become Captain America. And he was right to say it. Because even today, in our reality, you have proven that it is still true.
You say it’s not the « real » Cap. That Steve is the only one. That Sam doesn’t have the « aura ». But let’s be frank: What you can’t swallow is that a black man can embody the symbol of a nation built on the exclusion of people like him. So like that, Steve is « the only real Captain America »? Explain to me why, when John Walker arrived with the shield, many of you accepted it without flinching.
It’s not the shield you’re defending. This is the image you want him to send back. And let’s be frank: this image, you want it white.
Sam, he never wanted to be Captain America. He didn’t want a shield. He refused. He gave it to the museum.
Because he knows that this country does not want him as a symbol.
hello i am having the time of my life
mh. just remembered bucky barnes canonically said ‘i love you’ to sam wilson. much to think about
WIP of Jayce and Viktor levitation
Ngl it's always pissed me off that Sam's not on this poster
Personally I'd have ditched Robert Redford. I don't care who you are dude 🤣
But even so, they had a helicopter and three jets on the poster and not one of them could've been Sam as Falcon, in flight being awesome?
Like it wasn't a spoiler who he was playing, or the costume. There's character posters. So why couldn't he be on this one!?
The film literally opens and closes on SAM!
kind of obsessed with the characterization of jayce and viktor as fundamentally good people who will also go absolutely batshit insane if you separate them because theyre also ridiculously codependent to a degree that is concerning for everybody else's wellbeing. they were literally away from each other for a couple of months and almost ended the entire world
