So my room mate dragged me into a fandom kicking and screaming...
when she says she doesn’t send nudes
Adding onto this in the visual art department; this is coming from a fellow non-talented artist. It's very hard for me to actually practice drawing enough to become "good" at it, my style is nonexistent and all the pieces I've made are in a blurry hyperfixated state (that said, I'm still very proud of when I can pull myself together to make a full piece).
I would never support AI art, because I genuinely admire people who are far better than I am.
Am I sometimes jealous? Yes, and completely irrationally. My inability to buckle down and suffer through that awkward phase is my problem and mine alone. But AI art spits and shits on the work of truly wonderful artists. If you have the ability to do art, either work and suffer and get better by yourself, listen to your peers and mentors, and figure out a method for yourself, or just don't do it. Visual art isn't the right medium of expression for everyone. If you're a hobbyist, it looks like shit, and you don't want to show it to anyone, THAT'S ALRIGHT. If you do want to show it to people, THAT'S ALRIGHT. If you've found your style but you can't quite gets clothes or side portraits or eyes or hands right, THAT'S ALRIGHT. You are allowed to be awkward in your artistic expression.
Just don't throw a tantrum, plunk your pencil onto the floor, and go to your uwu ChatGPT-senpai to get it to do it for you. You're allowed to be awkward in art. You're not allowed to give up and resort to theft and disrespect when you've barely tried.
You’ve always been able to hear the whispers of gods. They’re all always saying different things, so it’s difficult to pick out what any of them are saying at any given time... But one day, you hear all the voices converge into one. "RUN AWAY! FLEE! PLEASE!"
once and for all

Hey hey wonderful Trafficblr peeps, especially @whiver-wyverncat lovely mutual <3 love you lots
So I was rewatching Scott's Double Life, and I had a fanfiction idea that needs rating (I don't know if this has already been done, but either way I thought it could be a fun thing after I finish the Joelzzie siren AU)
Modern, Soulmates AU, where everyone's paired up like Double Life, along with Skizz & Gem and Mumbo & Lizzie. Scott is the main PoV. People who haven't found/don't reside with their soulmates after they're in their 20s are kind of seen as having failed in life, and dating someone other than your soulmate is absolutely SCANDALOUS
Soulmates share a tattoo on their hands. They'll also have any injury done to their soulmate appear on them until they meet. Scott and Jimmy dated in college before Jimmy found Tango, and they broke up on sour terms (Jimmy got sent to the ICU because of Tango, which is where they met, and Jimmy thinks Scott abandoned him there, but actually the nurse people wouldn't let Scott see Jimmy because they weren't soulmates. Scott got angry at the idea of "soulmates" after that and when he found out Jimmy found his soulmate, he got really flighty and Jimmy decided to break it off.)
A couple years later, Scott's living with his college friend Cleo, and Cleo has a girl friend group and they realized Pearl's tattoo looks similar to Scott's (Scott wears gloves but Cleo's seen it before he started wearing them) and when Scott ends up out with Cleo they stumble into her friends who insist they get Scott and Pearl to meet and check if they're soulmates
Scott gets trauma triggered and goes on a bad bender the night before they're supposed to meet and (ironically) ends up in the ICU. The Girl Group gets Pearl in there because she suddenly felt awful and they're like "alright let's get to Scott now" and the worst happens, and they're Soulmates
Enemies-to-friends with hints of will-they-won't-they (but they won't) about challenging the amatonormative society with gay and platonic shenanigans. (also Scott and Jimmy make up in the end dw)
It's been said before but I'm saying it again: being mentally ill and very self aware of it is extremely annoying because it's like:
My Brain: You are worthless and everyone is making fun of you.
Me: Uhh, no? I just had an extremely minor, low stakes misunderstanding, and everyone was very cool about it. It's fine. No need to panic.
My Brain: [immediately dousing itself in cortisol] You don't get to decide that. Now I'm cancelling all of the dopamine and serotonin. You can just sit there and think about your unforgivable error.
Me: Wildly unnecessary, but ok I guess
"I made a whole playlist for them organized by season"
First chapter's getting posted tonight babyyyy :D
"Shadow Lady?" the soft voice of her mother called, warbling through the ocean.
She smiled, zipping through the water toward the sweet song. The muscles in her powerful tail, almost four times as long as her torso, carried her through the currents at a lightning speed. The gem around her neck, connected by a thin chain to the back of her neck, fell flush against her chest as she whipped around rock formations and brushed against seagrass. In a quick motion, she darted into the clam shell leaning against a rock that made her home, doing a quick lap around her startled mom before throwing her hands up and stopping. "I'm here!"
Her mother chuckled. Pink Coral Branch was known to be a gentle giant, as tall as a hydrothermal vent but as warm as a summer ocean current. Her large hand wrapped around her tiny daughter, bringing her close to her chest. 15 feet of human, 15 feet of tail, all boundless love.
A nameless tune drifted through the water, coming from Pink Coral Branch. Shadow Lady tried to join in, though her notes were off-pitch and her inflection sloppy at best.
"One day, child, you will grow as tall as this reef, and be responsible for the life in it." Pink Coral Branch said. "Your top half will be as long as your tail, and your voice will become something very special."
Shadow Lady held up her necklace, feeling a small tug at the top of her spine. Pink Coral Branch reached for her own necklace. "Do you know what's in here?" She took it off her neck and put it in Lizzie's hands, though it was almost larger than her upper body.
"It's our voice!" She said, grinning up at her mother.
Pink Coral Branch nodded, then took the necklace and weaved it back over her head. "When the necklace grows off your neck, you must keep it safe at all times. It will be how you sing, how you beguile, and how you put on a human skin. Never lose it."
Shadow Lady clutched her necklace in both hands, close to her chest. "I will never."
----
Lizzie sighed dramatically, smacking her face into her arms. "I hate it here."
@baosci @whiver-wyverncat y'all i think my brain did something O-O

So I've noticed recently from some of the Traffic analysis blogs I follow (shoutout to @ooooo-mcyt) that the interpretations of Life series members can change DRASTICALLY depending on whose POV you watch, if you watch one consistently. For example, a lot of people (myself included) see Pearl as the protagonist/anti-hero of Double Life. But until I got into Traffic analysis, I didn't realize so many people saw Scott as the villain of that, to the point of blaming everything in the series on him. And that's probably because I watch almost exclusively Scott's POV, so my default mindset is "Scott's the hero". In a similar vein, I'd never considered Flower Husbands with toxic Scott toward Jimmy as a possible interpretation, partially due to my bias towards him.
So! I'm wondering, people who watch only one POV, or watched a certain season from one POV at first, what are online opinions on the characters/season that surprised you? This has been scratching at my brain and I've been wondering whether others have had similar experiences
Just your typical Hermitcraft/3rd Life blog. Occasional art. Discord is KaeyaTheAbyssMage cause i might as well.
