Clone Force 99
Classic. đ
Totally believable.
the bad batch see echo as this more-experienced, grumpy yet loving motherly figure who always checks on them, whether itâs making sure tech gets some sleep to giving hunter/crosshair glasses so they donât get overstimulated to treating wreckers scar to putting omega to bed. he is the responsible one.
when they mention this to rex, he stares at echo in horror. because that boy is a demon. the same boy who snuck out drinking with fives, who once broke his knuckle punching a droid, who used to jump cody/rex/anakin from behind doors and try to tackle them.
no one belives rex when he says this.
echo is hiding behind a nearby door, listening in and preparing to jump rex.
Crosshair at his infuriatingly sexy finest. đĄđĽ

500 Follower Celebration Masterlist | Main Masterlist
âEyes up, General.â Crosshair's smooth voice sounds in your ear. âYouâve got company.â
You quickly pocket your datapad, taking a look around the forest. You don't see anything, and you look up at the tree where you know Crosshair is perched, the tip of his rifle just barely poking through the leaves.Â
"How many?" you ask, keeping your voice low.
"Just one, but it's a big one."
You take another look around the trees. "Where is it? I don't see anything."
"You will."
âThatâs not helpful,â you grumble, turning back to your datapad, tapping on the screen to wake it back up. The screen lights up, and you go back to your notes, continuing your read through as you walk through the woods, your eyes flicking up every so often to glance around you.
Nothing.
Your eyes focus back on the datapad. Youâre still searching for an elusive herb that is supposedly native to this planet, one which is a rare and valuable medicinal ingredient. Itâs not uncommon for Jedi and other medics to search for them, though it was a pain to do so. Making matters more complicated was that this planet was so far removed from the Republic that you were risking getting into trouble just by being here.Â
The natives had yet to be contacted by the Republic, so your presence was an unknown to them. You don't even know if they're civilized enough to communicate with you, and if they were, whether or not they'd be hostile to you.
What you do know is that youâd be punished if you were caught on this planet without permission, and the last thing you wanted was to be sent to the AgriCorps. Again.
Crosshair, of course, thinks you're stupid for even thinking about searching for this herb. He had made a point to tell you exactly what he thought as the two of you set off earlier this morning. Youâd left Tech and Echo behind to repair the shipâs systems, while the two of you went out to explore, Hunter and Wrecker doing the same in the opposite direction.
Crosshair was less than pleased at the idea, but he'd agreed to go with you anyway, even if his reasoning was more to ensure you wouldnât get yourself killed.
As much as you hated to admit it, the sniper was probably right. Your chances of actually finding this herb was slim. You'd spent several days searching for it already, and your only reward was sore feet and an empty vial. You didn't even know how the plant was supposed to look, other than the brief description provided to you by a Jedi Master who had been on this planet before and some poor quality photos.
Small, white, fragrant flowers. Leaves long and thin, shaped like a star, growing in groups of five.
You were sure there was plenty of vegetation that matched the description on this planet. Hell, it was a forest, and it seemed like everything was green. The only problem was finding the right one.
You had no idea how long you had until the flower stopped blooming, and the plant lost its medicinal value. If you didn't find it soon, you'd have to leave, and then you'd be forced to return home empty handed, without the rare herb and with no explanation as to why you'd returned without it.
And worse, Crosshair would be proven right.
The thought of that alone was enough to make you want to find the damn thing.
You walk a few steps farther, pausing at a small clearing in the forest. You glance at your datapad again, checking your notes, then scan the ground for any sign of the flower.
"It's not there."
You look up. You don't see Crosshair anywhere.
"Where are you?" you ask.
"Behind you."
You turn and look, and you still can't see him. "Well, if you're going to criticize my choices, the least you could do is get down here and help."
"I am helping. By keeping you alive."
You scowl. "Where the hell are you?"
"You should really watch your language, General."
You roll your eyes. "Come down here and help me," you say.
"Help you with what?"
You jump and turn, letting out a surprised yelp when you see Crosshair standing next to you, the butt of his rifle resting on the ground, one hand resting on it, the other on his hip. His helmet is still on, and you're unable to read his expression. You hadn't heard him approach, and it had startled you, enough so that your hand had gone to the lightsaber at your waist.
"What is wrong with you?" you demand.
He tilts his head. "I didn't realize you were so jumpy.â
"Yeah, well, if you weren't always hiding in trees and making creepy comments, I wouldn't be," you grumble, releasing your hold on your saber one finger at a time.
"If I wasn't always watching your back, you'd be dead," he retorts.
"Yeah, yeah," you mutter. "You're the only reason we're not all dead."
"You're welcome."
You let out a sigh and roll your eyes. Youâre sure heâs smirking underneath his helmet, and you're not entirely sure how you feel about it. There's something about him that irritates you, that gets under your skin, but he's also the only one on the squad that seems to pay attention to you. And he does a good job of it, too.
It's strange, really, because he seems to notice things about you that nobody else does. He knows when you're annoyed, or upset, or when you need to eat. He can tell when you're not sleeping well, or when you're tired, or when you're distracted. And when you're focused, like now.
The two of you spend a moment staring at each other, neither of you saying anything. You can practically see the smirk on his face, and you narrow your eyes, not trusting him. He's the most unpredictable member of the squad, and he always seems to catch you off guard. He seems to take great pride in it, too, and you don't appreciate it.
"Whatever," you finally say, turning back to your datapad and looking at it again. The description of the herb and its supposed medicinal value was all well and good, but the picture of the plant was very generic. It looked like pretty much every plant in this damn forest.
"Do you actually have any idea what you're looking for?" he asks, stepping up next to you.
You give him a withering look, and he just stares back at you.
"No," you hiss. He chuckles, a low, warm sound that makes your skin prickle. "You wanna tell me what's so funny?"
"Not really," he says, his helmet turning towards you.
"Asshole," you mutter, turning away from him and scanning the ground. He's still staring at you, and the feeling of his eyes on you makes your skin crawl. "Do you mind?"
"No," he replies, his voice low. His helmet tilts to the side as he watches you, and you can feel your cheeks growing warm. He's close, and it makes you feel uneasy, but you don't back down, and he doesn't move.
âLook, if you don't want to be here, you can leave," you say, turning to him, your voice rising.
He takes a step closer, and you have to fight the urge to back away. You stand your ground, and he leans closer, the black visor of his helmet mere inches from your face.
He scoffs. âAnd get blamed when you disappear and die on this planet? No thanks."
"You'd love that, wouldn't you?"
He shrugs. "Wouldn't matter to me," he says. "But I like to think of myself as a loyal soldier. Wouldn't leave a comrade behind, no matter how idiotic the mission. Or the person.â
You roll your eyes. He's just trying to piss you off, and he's succeeding.
"You're insufferable," you hiss. "Get lost, and stop following me. That's an order."
He chuckles, the sound sending a shiver down your spine. "Can't," he says. "I'm stuck with you."
"Why?"
He doesn't answer, just shrugs.
"Then just leave," you mutter, turning and walking away. You hear him follow behind, but you don't bother to look. You know he'll keep pace with you.
You walk in silence for a few minutes, before he speaks.
"What exactly are we looking for, anyway?"
"Are you actually going to help, or are you just gonna complain?"
"Complain, probably."
"Then leave."
"Not until you do."
"Ugh," you groan. "Fine. Look for anything with long, thin leaves, and white flowers."
"What does it do?"
"You don't care."
"Probably not, but I'm asking anyway."
"It's for an antidote," you reply. "For a poison. It's very rare, and expensive, and the only way to obtain it is by harvesting the flower. If we can find one with roots in tact, we can bring it back with us and grow our own. But the only place it's grown is here, and the blooming season is only a few days and then it's over."
"Sounds like a lot of trouble," he comments.
"It's worth it," you argue. "This could save thousands of lives."
"So, what do I look for?" he asks. You give him a look, and he shakes his head. "What? You asked for my help. Tell me what to do."
"Fine," you sigh. "The flower is usually found growing at the base of a tree or shrub, and the roots are long and deep, and it has a unique scent."
"Unique how?"
"I don't know, it's like..." You wrinkle your nose, thinking. "Like... honey and mint, I think? It's hard to explain. I don't really smell it myself, but that's what I was told."
Crosshair stares at you for a moment, his hands flexing. He looks like he's contemplating something, but doesn't say anything. Instead, he just turns away, walking into the woods.
"Cross?"
"Keep your eyes open, and don't die," he calls back.
"Where are you going?"
"To find your precious herb," he replies, waving over his shoulder.
You roll your eyes. "Just don't get lost!"
He doesn't answer, disappearing among the trees.
You continue on your way, stopping every so often to check the ground for any sign of the flower, and then move on. The day passes slowly, and you feel yourself getting more and more frustrated. Your frustration only grows when you see the sun starting to set, the sky slowly darkening.
"Fuck," you grumble, turning and heading back in the direction of the ship. Crosshair had left hours ago, and you hadn't seen or heard from him since. You had no idea where he was, or if he was still alive.
"Cross, you there?" you ask, tapping your comm.
Nothing.
"Crosshair, come in."
Still nothing.
You let out a frustrated huff. He was probably fine, but that didn't stop the worry from creeping up inside of you. It wasn't unusual for him to disappear, but you had expected him to stay close to you, especially after insisting that he stick with you.
"Dammit," you growl, turning back around. You're about to call out for him again, when you hear a twig snap behind you. You go still, your hand instinctively going to your lightsaber, and you spin around, igniting it.
You're not prepared for what greets you.
You're met by a massive, six-legged creature, easily three times your size, and twice as wide. It's covered in thick, shaggy fur, its legs ending in sharp talons. It lets out a growl, its teeth bared, saliva dripping from its mouth.
You're frozen in place, your heart pounding. You can't move, your limbs trembling, and you try to think, to find a way out of this, but you can't.
The creature takes a step towards you, its head lowered, and you can feel the air around you shift as it inhales. It's trying to catch your scent.
You grip the hilt of your lightsaber tightly, willing your hands to stop shaking, trying to keep the blade steady. Youâve fought bigger, more dangerous things than this. You can handle it.
You swallow hard, trying to calm your nerves. You can do this. You're a Jedi.
The creature opens its mouth, a low, rumbling growl echoing in the woods. It's almost on top of you now, and you brace yourself, knowing you have to act, or you'll be dead.
You move forward, swinging your lightsaber towards the creature. It reacts immediately, lunging at you.
A loud shot rings through the forest, and the creature stumbles, its head jerking to the side. Another shot, and another, and the creature falls, the life draining from its body.
You stand there for a moment, your lightsaber humming quietly, the smell of the creature's blood filling the air. You can feel your heart beating wildly, and you know you should be relieved, but you're not. You're angry, and terrified.
âWhat the fuck is wrong with you? You could have gotten yourself killed."
Crosshair is standing next to you, his rifle aimed at the creature, his eyes hidden behind the black visor of his helmet. His hands are steady, his finger resting lightly on the trigger, and you can feel the tension radiating off of him.
Okay, now you're furious.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" you demand, glaring at him. "Thereâs no way the locals didnât hear that. We're going to be in so much shit."
"That thing was about to kill you, and all you can think about is how much trouble you're going to be in?"
"Yes!"
He lowers his rifle and pulls off his helmet, and you're met with his usual expression of disdain. "You're unbelievable."
"Where the hell were you, anyway?"
"Helping you," he says.
"Bullshit," you hiss. "If you were helping me, we'd have found the damn flower by now."
He holsters his rifle and digs into the pouch on his belt, pulling out a vial and holding it up.
You stare at it for a moment, not believing what you're seeing. It can't be. There's no way.
"Are you kidding me?" you ask, snatching the vial out of his hand and turning it over. Sure enough, inside is a small, white flower, its roots still intact.
"You're welcome."
"This can't be real," you murmur, your eyes widening as you stare at the herb. It's everything you'd hoped for, and more.
"It is," he says.
You turn to him, your mouth hanging open. âIâŚâ
"It's okay," he says, taking the vial back and handing you his helmet. "You can say it."
âIâI donât know if I want to yell at you or fuck you.â The words are out of your mouth before you can stop them, and you cover your mouth with your free hand, your face burning.
His eyebrows shoot up, and he tilts his head.
âSurprisingly not the first time Iâve heard that," he says, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"It just slipped out," you protest. "I didn't--"
"Sure you did," Crosshair cuts in, taking a step towards you. He's close, so close that you can feel the heat of his breath against your skin, and it makes your knees weak. "I've got that effect on people."
"I hate you," you whisper, unable to look away from him.
"No, you don't," he murmurs, leaning in and pressing his lips against yours.
You gasp, but don't pull away, your eyes fluttering closed as his hands rest on your hips, pulling you against him. His lips are soft, his kiss gentle, and you can't help but kiss him back, your arms wrapping around his neck, his helmet dangling from your fingers.
The two of you are pressed together, his warmth surrounding you, and you melt into his embrace. You're not sure how long you stand there, your lips moving against his, your heart pounding in your chest.
You can't seem to think straight, and all you can focus on is him, his touch, his scent, his taste. He takes a step forward, and you gasp as your back hits a tree, his body pinning you there. He takes advantage of the opportunity, his tongue slipping past your lips, exploring your mouth. You moan softly, and he deepens the kiss, his hands gripping your hips tighter.
Your knees are trembling, and you have to wrap your arms around his neck, afraid that you'll fall. He seems to sense this, his hands moving to your waist, pulling you flush against him. His armor is hard, digging into your skin, and you let out a soft whimper, a sound that makes him smirk against your lips.
He breaks the kiss, resting his forehead against yours, his breath hot against your skin. His eyes are dark and hooded, his cheeks flushed, and he's breathing hard. He doesn't speak, just stares at you, his gaze intense.
"Thank you," you finally whisper.
âFor the flowers or the kiss?" he asks.
"Both."
He smiles, and it's one of the first genuine smiles you've ever seen from him. He's beautiful, and you can't help but stare at him, his sharp features, his piercing eyes.
"Come on," he says, pulling back and taking your hand. "Let's get back to the ship before the locals figure out we're here. You can show me how grateful you are later."
Your cheeks burn, and you quickly look away, trying to hide the blush that's creeping up your neck.Â
"Yeah, yeah," you mutter, rolling your eyes, though you can't help but smile as he takes your hand and tugs you towards the ship. The two of you walk in silence, his fingers laced through yours. He's surprisingly gentle, his touch light, his thumb brushing over your skin.
You're still not entirely sure what to make of him. He's cocky and arrogant, but he's also protective, and attentive. He notices things that others don't, and he does what needs to be done, even when he doesn't want to. And he doesn't let anyone else tell him what to do.
But most of all, he's the one person who's always been there for you. He's the one who's always watched over you, even when you didn't want him to. And even when he's a pain in the ass, you're glad he's there.
You steal a glance at him, and he's looking at you, his expression soft.
"What?" you ask.
"Nothing," he replies, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Just wondering how grateful you're going to be."
You flush, looking away, and he chuckles, squeezing your hand.
"Shut up," you mutter, trying, and failing, to hold back a smile. You canât deny youâre looking forward to it.

I recently revisited this story from @freesia-writes and was delighted. Again. Jesse written as âJESSE!â and then âjesseâ as more of him was revealed. Funny and heartfelt.

Chapter 1 of 4 - Word Count: 3.2k - Jesse x Fem Reader Master List
âThanks for dinner,â she said quietly, shifting her eyes from her plate to his and crossing one arm across herself to rub the outside of the other.Â
âYeah baby,â Jesse purred with a cocky grin. âI mean, I got the dinner but you brought the dessert.â
âHuh?â
âYouâre a treat,â he said with a wag of his eyebrows. âWant to take the party back to your place?â
âOh, um. Iâve got to work early, so I think thatâs all Iâve got time for now. But thanks again,â she offered, trying to mask the cringe on her face with a disingenuous smile.Â
âAlright, your loss⌠hehehâŚâ
âYeahâŚâ
They made their way to the door of the restaurant, Jesse holding it open for her as she shuffled awkwardly past him. She hesitated on the sidewalk, turning back to face him with that same feeble grin. Another thanks for dinner. An offer to walk her home. Declined. A question about another date. After a long, uneasy pause, that was also declined.
Jesse kept up his best face, chest puffed and confidence set firmly in place, until she disappeared around the corner, then he slumped, turning to begin his own walk home. A glance at the chrono reminded him that he wasnât allowed back in the apartment he shared with Kix for another hour and a half⌠The cramped flat they rented together didnât allow for much privacy, and his roommate had been excited to take advantage of the alone time with his partner from Right to Love, a matchmaking service for clones wanting to live as freely as they were able since the war had ended and they were released from service.Â
The endless flashing lights of the Coruscant streets were oppressively bright as he plodded aimlessly, unsure of where to go. A deep sense of resentment was growing within, and he didnât realize he was muttering under his breath until a few strange looks from passersby clued him in. Many of his brothers had found immediate success with Right to Love, now experiencing the joys of a relationship in ways theyâd never thought possible when theyâd been nothing more than property their entire lives. And yet here he was, having tried to connect with five different people now, each one entirely put off by the end of the first date. His assigned case manager at Right to Love had assured him that matches werenât always perfect the first time around, and sometimes the process took a little longer to ensure the ideal fit.Â
Doubt was growing in the pit of his stomach as he walked. What was it about him that was getting in the way? He was throwing himself wholeheartedly into this pursuit, and yet each attempt seemed to be less encouraging than the last. The resentment began to coil in his chest, heating up into anger, and he leaned into it. Anger was familiar. Anger, he could deal with. It made him feel powerful and in control, pushing aside any tendrils of fear or sadness that lay at its core. A sign up his head caught his eye, and he turned abruptly to barge through the door.Â
Music thumped inside, the small crowd on the dance floor moving as one to the beat, and he jostled his way around the edge to find a seat at the bar. He waited for a while, watching the bartender help customer after customer, including those that had arrived after him. When the man began polishing some glasses, Jesse finally called out, eyebrows furrowed.Â
âCan I get some service here?â
The bartender slowly finished wiping his glass, sidling down to the end and resting his palms on the counter with no attempt to hide the disdain on his face.Â
âDid your giant face tattoo block you from seeing the sign on the door?â he drawled. âNo clones. Go back to your own district.â
âYouâre living in the past,â Jesse growled, the snake in his chest twisting and hissing. âCredits are credits. What does it matter who they come from?âÂ
âJust get out,â exhorted a Zabrak on the stool beside him whoâd had his back firmly turned to him from the start. âBefore we make you.â
Heâd had enough.
âGo ahead and try,â he snarled, smacking a fist on the counter and rising to his feet. The Zabrak was in his face immediately, flanked by a nat-born and a Weequay who looked far too excited to throw hands.Â
âKnow your place,â the nat-born taunted, leaping forward to throw a swing, which Jesse dodged and countered with one of his own, sinking a fist into the manâs stomach and earning a satisfying grunt of pain. The brawl exploded, quickly changing the three-on-one situation into an entire mob set on teaching the clone a lesson he wouldnât soon forget. The ARC trooper held his own, ducking and swinging, using leverage to toss one body into another, but the blows were coming from every direction. A foot to the back of his knee knocked him off balance, right into someone elseâs fist.
The next thing he knew, he was unceremoniously thrown onto the sidewalk among a litany of curses and insults, and he scrambled to his feet, body throbbing with numerous bruises from the punches and kicks that had landed as heâd tried to hold them all off. His nose was bleeding, and he wiped it on his sleeve before pinching it hard, stalking toward his building in a tornado of rage.Â
He sat outside on the stoop for the remaining hour, ruminating on the sheer injustice of it all. But eventually, the hot indignation quieted, and in the stillness, he fought to stuff down the disappointment that whispered judgment and failure in its place.Â
* * *Â
âCome on, give it a try.â Kix straightened his scrubs as Jesse slouched against his bedroom doorway. âItâll be a different dynamic. Might be helpful.â
âI donât need help,â Jesse scoffed, folding his arms across his broad chest.Â
âI know,â Kix affirmed quickly, âBut the food carts in the square are delicious. So bring your next date and just come along for that.â He smoothed a hand over his neatly-cut hair and tilted his head at his mirror, checking that the first few letters of his head tattoo were hidden as much as possible by his dark locks. The medical clinic he worked at had some fairly strict rules around personal appearance, and considering how difficult it was to find clone-friendly jobs, no matter how qualified they were, he wasnât about to risk losing his placement over something as trivial as that.Â
âFine,â Jesse huffed. âIâm doing this for the ronto wraps, you know.â
Kix grinned, clapping him on the back and squeezing his shoulder as he headed for the front door. âYouâve been doing too much upper-body, vod. Have a leg day.â
âHah. Go clean some crusty old geezers, diâkut.â
âOh please. Iâm saving lives out there,â Kix threw over his shoulder as the door closed behind him. Jesse sighed. That did seem like a much better purpose than his own job as a personal trainer at a local gym, where most of his clients were flaky hopefuls who wanted to get into shape without putting in the time and work that it required. It paid well enough, though, and gave him an outlet for a sense of purpose as well as a place to exercise. If he were honest, heâd hoped heâd meet someone there, figuring theyâd be more aligned with his interests and lifestyle, but after months upon months of dismal prospects, heâd gone ahead and applied at Right to Love. He sighed, turning to rummage in the cooling chamber until it was time for work.
* * *Â
Days of work and leisure blended together, and Jesse found himself spending more time at the gym, adding cardio sessions on top of his bodybuilding regimen as a way to blow off steam. He finally got another match from Right to Love and agreed to go on the double date with Kix and his partner, laboring a disproportionate amount of time over what to wear. He didnât want to admit it, but with each date he felt increasingly desperate. Desperate to prove that there wasnât something wrong with him. Desperate to feel like he had access to the whole variety of options for a ânormalâ life. Desperate to enjoy the care, intimacy, and connection that some of his brothers had found.Â
He straightened the long-sleeved henley shirt and rolled up the sleeves a little. Ladies loved the forearms, right? Slipping a wallet into his back pocket, he checked his reflection one last time and ventured into the living room where Kix was waiting for him.Â
âHere goes nothing,â he grumbled.Â
âThatâs the spirit,â Kix nodded sagely, a fond smirk on his face.
The square had a weekly event where all the food carts in the vicinity would gather to offer their delectable delicacies, and there really was something for everyone, making it a very popular attraction. Jesse swaggered beside his date, Kix and his partner bringing up the rear, and shared stories of valor and bravery as she nodded and made small sounds of agreement here and there. The four of them had shared some snacks from a variety of vendors and were now walking it off along the city streets.Â
Coming to a somewhat scenic overlook of a steep dropoff with many Coruscant levels stretching down below, the four of them sat on a couple of benches. Kix stretched his arm across his partnerâs shoulders, and they nestled into his side with an affectionate gaze. Jesse shifted awkwardly beside his date, a beautiful redhead that made his mouth go dry when he tried to talk. Yet heâd pushed past it with bravado and confidence, he felt simultaneously certain and completely unsure of her interest. Kix was murmuring in his dateâs ear, bringing a demure smile to their face, and Jesse turned to look at the redhead beside him.Â
âSo⌠You mentioned some adventures in the jungle⌠Did I tell you about our campaign on Felucia?â he asked, launching into the story before she was able to respond. He wove an exhilarating tale of their encounter with both Separatist forces and the Commerce Guild, finishing with a flourish and grinning proudly.Â
âSounds like the war was wild,â she offered.
âYouâre karking right it was,â he laughed, attempting to slip his arm around her shoulder as well, but she stood up quickly.Â
âSorry,â she mumbled. âI⌠Iâm gonna go.âÂ
Jesse watched her leave, speechless, then was flooded with embarrassment as he felt the eyes of Kix and his partner on his back. He slowly turned to face them, and the empathetic looks on their faces added insult to the injury.Â
âSee you at home,â he muttered to his brother, nodding to Kixâs partner and stuffing his hands in his pockets as he trudged back to their apartment. Kix watched him for a long time, nodding at the murmured condolences from his partner, who was incredibly kind and gentle, both admiring and strong in their own right, and he was regularly blown away at the fact that heâd been able to find them. Their compassion only served to deepen his own hope that his brother could find whatever it was he was looking for.Â
* * *Â
The next morning, a much-needed day off of work for both of them, Jesse was sprawled on the couch with a lazy hand resting on the steaming mug of caf on the nearby side table. Kix was scrambling some eggs in the kitchen, casting the occasional glance over the counter at his brotherâs dejected slump. He was torn; Jesse was notoriously stubborn, but Kix also knew him better than most anyone else, and if he kept continuing in the same pattern, he would likely keep getting the same result. He flipped the eggs one more time and turned off the burner, scattering some shredded cheese over the top of them and putting a lid over the pan to melt it all together.Â
âYou⌠uh⌠seemed different last night,â he ventured, picking up his own caf, now mostly cold, and sitting in the armchair across from the downcast clone.Â
âMmm,â was the only response.Â
âDoes it always go that way?â
âMmm.â
âWhatâs⌠Whatâs with the swagger stuff?â Kix asked, abandoning the subtlety. Jesse cast a hard look at him, but he caught the quickly-concealed flicker of hurt beneath the tattooed face.
âWhat do you mean?â
âI donât know. Just doesnât really seem like you. Did you answer the questionnaire honestly?â
âYes!â Jesse said defensively, furrowing his brow.
âWell⌠then that might be why the dates arenât going so well, if theyâre expecting you to act⌠normal. Youâre smart and pretty down-to-earth most of the time. Last night it felt more like you were trying to prove yourself somehow.â
His words stung, and Jesse balked at the feeling of being perceived so accurately. But a sense of resignation had settled in again, and he shrugged, attempting a nonchalant facade.Â
âIâm just gonna get a pet. Thatâll have to loâ... to put up with me, right?â
âSure,â Kix sighed. âIâve heard good things about P4V.â
âLook, diâkut, I know I canât even get a second date, let alone some bedroom action, but I donât think I have the credits for a sex worker⌠At least not a good one.â
âClassy as always,â Kix rolled his eyes. âItâs not a brothel, itâs called Pets 4 Vets. They have a variety of service animals to help with the difficult aspects of adjusting to civilian life.â
âI want a good-sized Massiff, not some fluffy little Loth-rat to lick me when I have âbig feelingsâ,â Jesse snorted.Â
âKriff, you are thick sometimes.â
âJust these thighs.â
âRight. Just try it.â
âWeâll see.â
* * *Â
You stroked a hand down the bogling's back, running fingers along the soft fur of its fluffy tail. It leaned into your touch with a contented noise, and you closed the cage behind it, watching it begin delicately eating its food before moving to the next kennel. Youâd been working at Pets 4 Vets for a while now, and you felt thoroughly at home amid a great group of coworkers and an even better assortment of animals from every corner of the galaxy. They were all either in the process or finished with their training to be emotional support animals for the veterans who had served the Republic so well. Youâd been a little unsure around the clones at first, not having spent any time with them before this, but theyâd grown on you quite a bit and youâd been amazed at the complexity and individuality of each one. Youâd also developed a knack for pairing them with animals, although it still took a few tries at times.Â
âGood morning, tookas,â you said warmly as you slid the food bowl into the next crate, watching the two loth-cats eye it lazily from where they were curled around each other in the corner. They were a bonded pair, and last summer they had surprised the entire staff with a full litter of the most adorable babies youâd ever seen, who had since grown and been placed into loving homes. None of you had been too eager to see the parents leave, however, and it just so happened that none of the troopers so far had been the ideal match for them. The two of them roamed the clinic during the day, curling up near computer terminals or gracing guests in the lobby with their tails high in the air. At night, all the animals were tucked into their cozy kennels until morning, when theyâd be fed and let out into their various programs for the day. Some had hours of training, others enjoyed free time inside or out, and some simply spent as much time as possible shadowing the clinic staff.Â
âI wish I got breakfast in bed,â you murmured as you closed their door, watching the loth-cats yawn and nuzzle one another. You felt a deep sense of longing in your chest, and moved to the next cage to try to keep your mind from continuing on its current trajectory. But it was a lost cause. âWish I had someone to wake up next to as well,â you continued. The dating scene hadnât been kind to you, and if you were honest, youâd pretty much given up. Your friends urged you to keep the dream alive, to go on double dates with them and to meet the various eligible bachelors they knew, but nothing felt like a good fit. You assumed the problem was with you. And that was alright. You were happy enough on your ownâŚyou said. The clinic staff was a tightly-knit group, for the most part, and you authentically loved the animals. You felt fulfilled by the unconditional love you shared with each one, and you were so proud at the growth you got to witness as they went through training.Â
The horde was fed, each one was released to its daily duty, and you began to clean all of the kennels, wondering if you should take your friend up on her offer to check out 79s. It felt completely out of your comfort zone, however. Not because of the clones, but you just generally werenât a fan of loud, raucous environments, and you werenât much of a drinker⌠So it didnât seem like a very attractive prospect. As much as you were mocked for it, you werenât really keen on one night stands, nor were you good at âkeeping it casualâ. You wanted a relationship with depth and longevity. Sometimes you wondered if the taunts about you were correct, that you had in fact watched too many cheesy holofilms and now had an unrealistic view of romance.Â
Whatever.
A few hours of cleaning were followed by an hour or so at your computer, reviewing and categorizing the new applications. You didnât realize youâd been completely hunched the entire time, your back rounded as you tapped away at the keys, and would have remained blissfully unaware if the receptionist hadnât commented on it as soon as she popped in.Â
âGeez, you look like a shrimp,â she laughed, dropping a data card on your desk.Â
âYouâre a bit of a cod yourself,â you teased, and she giggled, swatting your arm. âWhatâs this?â
âA new app. I was gonna bring him back here in person but he said he had lots of âbig important stuffâ to do.â She rolled her eyes. âQuite the cocky one. He didnât want to go through the interview process because he âknew what he wanted and it was a big dogâ.â A chuckle followed the words as they both nodded. They were familiar with the type.
âDid you tell him he has to do an interview if he wants anything at all?â
âYup. Said youâd contact him.â
âLucky me.â
âThought you might like a challenge. Itâs been quiet for you lately,â she grinned.
âConsiderate as always,â you smiled right back.Â
âHave some fun with him. He could use someone taking him down a peg or two. Although I thought I could see the remnant of a black eye, so maybe someone already tried. Heâs a big boy, too.â A suggestive wink.
âOh boy. Canât wait.â

Looooved the casual conversational style. Whole thing had me giggling! đ
hiii can you do a story about after a long mission, Hunter and Fem reader are about to make out but Omega interrupts and just keeps asking about what they were doing
Iâve been dreaming of this thing for a long time
HI! Thanks for the ASK!!!
Sorry this one took awhile. Been working a LOT lately.
But, here it is! Hope you like!!!

HUNTER X FEM READER ASK FIC
Background: This is set after Tantiss when the remaining characters settle on Pabu. My headcannon is they take off for missions to help Rex and the Clone Rebellion. Omega stays with Auntie Phee who keeps her busy with treasure hunting and (mostly) out of danger. She gets to still be a child with fun adventures.
Word count: 1K
Warnings: Swearing, mention of male erection, implied inevitable sexual activity
âMovies over. Time for bed, Omega!â Hunter promptly popped up off the sofa, nudging her to get up.Â
âAww...Iâm not tired. Can we watch a couple holoshorts? THEN Iâll go to bed.âÂ
âNope, off you go.â Finally dislodging her off the edge. âBrush your teeth first.âÂ
âJeez...why are you in a hurry???â Â
I couldnât help but giggle at her persistence and sass. Little smarty pants. She suspected something was up. Usually, Hunter would let her linger a bit longer after the show was over.Â
Hunter and I have been seeing each other in-between missions. Him with Clone Force 99 and me with my little band of Rebel Cell âMissfitsâ (an unruly group of women from planets all over the galaxy). Usually, our squads worked separately and had never heard of each other until meeting on a mission planned by Rex.Â
He and I hit it off right away.Â
From then on, we conveniently kept running into their squad. Even when we didnât necessarily need help. And at times when we DEFINITELY needed it. They saved our asses on quite a few missions. Â
The Missfits never forgot CF99âs generosity. We saved their cute butts too. After all, we support our allies.Â
Eventually I just came out and confronted Hunter. And in front of both squads. Sometimes a womanâs gotta put a man in the hot seat to see what he says.Â
âHmm...we meet AGAIN! Are YOU keeping tabs on us?â Stated it loudly while staring him down...giving my devil may care expression.Â
Hunter tried to hide his amazement at my bold statement. Keeping a neutral expression. He really did. But I could see the small barely perceptible grin at the corners of his sweet mouth.Â
Kriff, I like to watch him lose his composure! Letting go of the control he tries so hard to keep in check...Â
Wrecker couldnât contain himself, slapping his brotherâs shoulder HARD. âHeâs keeping tabs on YOU! MAHAAA!!!âÂ
Hunter turned three shades of red while OUR entire squad erupted in wolf whistles and cat calls. The ladies COULDNâT let THAT go without making a big deal out of it.Â
Of course, Wreckerâs statement was partially true. It was no secret he, Echo and Crosshair had a thing for the ladies in our squad.Â
Then things got sticky with The Empire and we had to lay low for a while. Being seen together in the same place at the same time proved too risky. Our squads parted for quite a few months. We missed our men. They missed their women.Â
But I digress. Back to Movie Night...Â
Little Miss Omega really had our number. She glanced from Hunter to me. Â
Surely, she suspected SOMETHING, just unsure of WHAT.Â
âGoodnight kiddo. Weâll plan to do something fun and stay up later another night. With or without your brother.â I reached out with my foot and playfully kicked Hunterâs leg.Â
Heâs giving me that hungry look he gets when Iâm sassy and physical with him...Â
Omega smirked âGoodnight Y/N.âÂ
Then off she went to brush her teefies.Â
Hunter settled back on the sofa, slid up close, arm up on the back of the couch around me. He expertly turned off the lamp on the table behind us. Smooth.Â
We stared deeply into each otherâs eyes in the semidarkness of the holoprojector.Â
âMissed you. All I thought about for months.â His smoky voice so low. So deep. So...sexy.Â
âMmm...did ya now...âÂ
Maker, heâs so beautiful and sweet it makes my heart ache. Gonna tear him up tonight...quietly of course...we donât want to wake up...Â
âOMEGA! Go back to bed.â Hunter, doing his best to NOT sound annoyed. Didnât even move from his position on the sofa. Still gazing in my eyes.Â
The tiny, barely perceptible shadow in the hallway turns and scurries back to bed.Â
âDamn Hunter. Youâve got kid radar.âÂ
âNot the only thing Iâve got.â He sensually runs his hands up my arms, shoulders, neck, caresses the sides of my face...Â
...we close the gap between each other. Gently touching noses, foreheads. My arms slide up his stomach, chest...finally gripping his strong shoulders...and just as our lips meet...Â
âHOLY KRIFF!â I just âbout lept off the sofa!!!Â
Omega stood 5 ft in front of us...watching...Â
âHunter...did YOU teach her to be THAT quiet???âÂ
âWhat did I TELL YOU?!â Heâs trying to be patient. Trying REALLY hard.Â
âIâm thirsty...â Her expression is uncertain. Sheâs a good kid and certainly not trying to be disobedient.Â
âYou know where the sink is.â Heâs the kind of guy who would get the water for her. Â
But he CANâT right now. I can feel his hardness against my thigh. Hunter shoots me an uneasy expression. Â
He anticipates sheâll ask to be tucked into bed next...and he CANNOT support that action right now.Â
I quietly giggle.Â
He slowly shakes his head at me.Â
Omega bounces into the kitchen and we can hear the sink running.Â
The tap turns off.Â
Sounds of a tiny person drinking.Â
The rest of the water gets dumped into the sink. Â
Clink of the glass being set on the counter.Â
Sheâs quickly back in front of us.Â
He inhales with the anticipation of her request.Â
Iâm watching all of this with bated breath...ready to bust out laughing. Itâs NEVER a dull moment in The Batch household.Â
âWill you tuck me...?âÂ
âOMEGA!â She jumps out of her skin.Â
Echo emerges from the darkened hallway. A serious expression on his face, and a contrast to the #1 MOM t-shirt heâs wearing with his sweatpants.Â
âLeave them alone and come to bed.â His expression softens. NOBODY can stay mad at Omega.Â
âBut...â Sheâs stalling.Â
âNow, young lady.â Echo raises an eyebrow and holds his hand out to her.Â
Omega glances back to Hunter.Â
âGo on with Echo. Weâll talk more tomorrow. I know you have questions.âÂ
She nods and takes Echoâs hand. Before they disappear down the hall, Echo glances over his shoulder and winks at us.Â
Hunter and I wait...Â
The door to Echoâs room closes. Clearly, heâs running interference for us tonight. Providing privacy. Otherwise, Omega will keep sneaking out.Â
Waiting a minute more...Hunter cocks his head like a dog...listening...Â
While reaching over and pressing a button on the holo-remote. Slow, sensuous Jizz music starts to play.Â
Then that handsome man turns back to me with an intensity in his eyes that makes my whole-body ache. Â
âNow...where were we?âÂ

So fun! Poor Gonky, victim of serial war criminal Chopper.
the spectres visit pabu đ¤ď¸
after 4 months of pain and procrastination⌠i finally finished it!!!! iâm so happy to have this off my wip list baha
i got kinda lazy with the rendering but i think iâm happy with the end result :,)
thanks for being patient with me! it usually doesnât take me 4 months to finish a drawing đ i guess i was just overwhelmed with this one and kept putting it off lol
iâm gonna come up with some headcanons about what all these characters did during their time together on pabu at some point!
⢠Omega visits both of them regularly. While they are confined, she has some amount of freedom within Tantiss.
⢠Both are initially closed off/withdrawn and antagonistic toward her.
⢠But, through continual positive interactions with Omega, they grow attached to her. (You could say she domesticated *both of them* ⌠as others joked about here! đ)
⢠Both of them are hurt â Batcher, physically and Crosshair, emotionally/physically â and Omega helps them both to heal.
⢠Both of their lives are threatened because of Omegaâs actions. Batcher is slated for termination after Omega domesticates her; and Hemlock threatens to kill Crosshair if Omegaâs misbehavior continues.
⢠Omega eventually frees both of them, and they both prove crucial in their collective escape in Episode 3.03. (Note: all three of them escape Tantiss the same way â via Batcherâs kennel chute.)
⢠Both Batcher and Crosshair are always ready to Square Up â˘ď¸ anytime someone threatens Omega.
⢠âS/he deserves a chance.â
⢠Hemlock only ever uses their designations â CT-9904 and LH-201. Omega only ever uses their names.
⢠The irony of Hemlock saying âactions always have consequences â sometimes not in the ways we imagineâ⌠He literally arms Omega with two individuals who help in her first escape, and pairs her with Emerie who helps with the second escape. And later, Crosshair and Omega team up with Hunter to kill Hemlock. None of this wouldâve happened if Hemlock had supervised Omega more closely, or not given her as many freedoms during her initial stay.
⢠Same thing with âEmotion and sentiment have no place within these walls. You would do well to remember thatâ ⌠considering itâs the Bad Batchâs love for each other that causes Hemlockâs downfall.
⢠Omega refuses point blank to leave either of them behind throughout S3. âI wasnât going to leave without you.â / âIâm not abandoning her.â
⢠Also, Batcher and Crosshair save Hunter together in 3.05. đ
⢠Batcher almost exclusively follows Crosshair in 3.05. But, after he reconciles with Hunter and Wrecker in that episode, Batcher seems more comfortable hanging out with Hunter and Wrecker too. Like, she fully integrates into the family when Crosshair does.
There are probably others, but thatâs all I got for now. đ
