In Which You Give Bakugo Katsuki The Silent Treatment

there’s a pair of crimson eyes burning holes in the side of your head and you can feel the gaze penetrating further and further into your skull with each passing second.

you almost have the nerve to ask when bakugo katsuki learnt how to use his armour-piercing shot with his eyes.

but alas, you bite the inside of your cheek and continue ignoring him, fingers tapping away on your keyboard to finish up your report.

it’s now day three of your silent treatment. your boyfriend has endured 48, painful hours of the punishment that he rightfully deserved and he’s been restless for all 48 hours. it’s a miracle that he’s survived this long because you totally would’ve expected him to blow up already.

how ironic that he’s acting sensible now yet couldn’t hold his tongue when you two were taking down the villain.

the event that caused bakugo’s predicament was actually the report you were finishing, a gang of villains - experienced ones, had broken into a high-end jewellery store and stolen majority of their dazzling diamonds and you and bakugo just so happened to be on site.

you were expecting a robbery chase that happened at least every three days. what you weren’t expecting, was that they were good. like, really good.

one of the thief’s quirks kept grazing you and it didn’t help that the communication between you and bakugo was off that day, so when you meet up with him again after splitting up, unconscious villains in tow with a few injuries to pair with it.

he failed to stop the big words that tumbled out of his mouth.

“what the hell was that? you seriously failed to listen to some simple instructions? you might wanna go back to being a fuckin’ sidekick because of how shit that was and you have the nerve to call yourself a pro?” thundered the explosive blond, whose face was getting closer and closer to yours with each passing second.

your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. you took down the villain, what was the big deal? “excuse me?” you muttered lowly.

that seems to tick him off even more, “you heard me! that was embarrassing to watch, kept getting hit and injured by some shitty extra. we don’t need heroes like you to screw things as simple as a robbery chase up!”

bakugo had been ticked off the second he first entered the agency this morning, so you were aware he was in a bad mood and you probably were the final strike to him letting loose of his temper- but that was not an excuse for the venom he was spitting. no matter how desperately you wanted to retaliate, you kept your cool for the sake of your relationship and also because you were in public. you didn’t need anyone listening to realise that it was you that bakugo was shouting at, so with no sound, you turn around and meet up with the police, villains in hand.

that seemed to shut him up pretty easily, thank goodness to your eardrums.

“we took ‘em down,” you said the second the police scrambled out of their cars. you tried to keep the frustration and anger out of your tone but the way you threw the villains with a little more force than necessary against the police car caused the officers to flinch.

a certain blond appears not long after, now calmer and more guilty-looking.

“thanks you two. we dug through our records and found out that these criminals have been wanted for a while. kept escaping under our noses,” one policeman says with a grateful smile. you don’t bother to return it, blaming it on the cut on your cheek.

“no problem. just call us if you ever need us again,” you tell him with a proper nod.

you and bakugo watch the policemen secure the villains, not moving until the last car leaves your sight.

he turns to you and finally says something to break the suffocating tension between you two.

“you should probably get some first aid for those cuts.”

bakugo tries to sound normal- really, he tries, because the second you turned around and left him in the alley, he realised the magnitude of his stupidity and felt his heart drop to his stomach, fearing for the worst.

with a small ‘tch’ from you, you’re gone the next second from his sight, probably flying back to the agency.

you don’t speak to him. even when he spams your phone with check up texts, even when he returns after patrol, even when he walks into your office whilst you rapidly type away at your laptop furiously, making more typos than you’d like to admit.

“hey,” he says sternly, trying to capture your attention with little success. “c’mon, talk to me.”

bakugo rounds the table and bobs down beside you, careful not to aggravate you by touching you even though it was hard to resist the temptation. natural boyfriend instinct.

“y/n, i didn’t mean what i said back there, i swear,” he continues, “i was just, fuckin’ mad at- i don’t even know, and i shouldn’t have snapped at you like that.”

it’s beautiful how he can say everything beside ‘sorry’.

“please don’t ignore me.”

he’s frowning, and you really wanna look at him and respond, but you don’t and this dance continues for the next two days. bakugo asks if you want coffee; no answer but he brings it for you regardless. bakugo asks if you need help sorting through the mess of papers on your desk; no answer but he cleans it up regardless, in the exact way you like it. bakugo asks if you need him to run by the support gear department to check up on your costume; no answer but he does it for you regardless and tells you all the updates as well. (he’s not doing it for your forgiveness. this is a usual routine you two have so even without your answers, he knows whether you’ll say yes or no.)

now he’s sitting in your office whilst you finish writing up the report you’ve been neglecting for a while because often, to speed things up, you and bakugo split up the paperwork but with you pretending like he, your boyfriend, doesn’t exist, that wasn’t really possible.

at the 67th hour of no speaking, he snaps. now that you two were officially off the clock and could return home or do as you please, bakugo spends no time picking you up from your chair with little to no effort as a noise of surprise slips past your lips.

you want to ask where he was taking you as he glides through the halls with determination and vigour, his shoes clanking against the marble floor with each step he took, keeping you secured in his arms, pressed against his chest.

there’s a string of curses that you could yell at your boyfriend right now and don’t be mistaken, you could very easily take him down, if it weren't for how much you had missed him.

(you feel slightly terrible for keeping up this silent treatment because that pout on his face is growing by the second, but it’s what he deserves and you wouldn’t relent until a proper ‘sorry’ is given.)

in your moment of zoning out, bakugo has reached his car and seated you in the passenger seat, leaning over you to secure your seatbelt. the kiss he places on your face practically radiates with his complacency at getting you safely in his car.

you huff and cross your arms as he rounds the vehicle to the driver’s side. bakugo hands you the aux and you take it, plugging in your phone to find your shared playlist and you don’t miss the smirk he has when he sees the familiar playlist name pop up on the screen.

the drive is painless enough with no words being exchanged, the music muting the silence that still had some tension lingering in it.

bakugo’s taking you back to his apartment and sure enough, the second the car is parked (perfectly), bakugo tells you ‘don’t move’ before exiting and jogging around to get to your side.

you let him pick you up again with a sigh but it’s all for show, especially the way your heart flutters when you notice he’s hugging you a little tighter this time.

he’s probably afraid you’re gonna run off (he’s had that fear since you first started dating).

sure enough, the explosive blond doesn’t set you down until he steps foot into his bedroom and from there, he throws you on his expensive ass bed with ease, clambering atop you before crushing you with all his weight.

a little ‘oof’ escapes you.

“‘m not getting up till you speak to me,” he lazily threatens, wrapping his arms around your middle. “so you can either get comfy or stop messin’ around.”

“i’m still mad at you, y’know,” you murmur, bringing your hands behind your head whilst staring up at his ceiling. the man lying above you stiffens, taking his head out of his chest to look up at you.

“i’m sorry,” he gruffly confesses, unable to look you in your eye when you glance back down at him with your jaw agape and eyes widened.

yes, he should have said the apology ages ago. yes, it’s been long overdue. yes, you were still surprised that he managed to get those two syllables out of his mouth.

above all, bakugo katsuki is stubborn, unrelenting and powerful, and you’re surprised he succumbed without you suggesting for him to apologise.

you sit up on your elbows, recovered from your brief moment of shock to tell him, “you’re not forgiven.”

“what?” he gawks, outraged, “what else do you want from me?”

“it’s been two days! you could’ve said ‘sorry’ two days ago and i would have forgiven you!”

“fuckin’ hell, i didn’t think of that.”

“bakugo katsuki, are you really that stupid?”

“take it back!”

“not until you take calling-me-a-lame-hero back!”

“i’m sorry! i take it back!” he winces, “you sure know how to kill a man, huh? i’m sorry, i didn’t mean what i said, now talk to me again, y/n, these past few days have been torture!”

you can’t help but smile at his desperation. he never acts like this for anyone so you’re going to enjoy these rare moments of vulnerability for a little longer.

“told me to go back to bein’ a side kick,” you huffed, “that’s not a bad idea actually, maybe i’ll listen and apply to be midoriya’s. or todoroki’s. they’re climbing the ranks quite quickly-”

“-y/n!” he’s whining now and you’re afraid you have a manchild lying atop you now.

“i’m joking.”

“you’re mean.”

“oh so now i’m the mean one? what about when-”

“-shut your mouth!”

“is this another one of your instructions? telling me that i’m unworthy of being a hero to the extent that i need to shut my mouth-”

“-stop it!”

you fall back on his pillows in a fit of laughter and as your giggles fill the room, bakugo can’t help but feel his heart ache. this is what he’s been yearning for for the past few days, moments that are so unexplainably, unabashedly you that he realised he doesn’t want to go another day without it. now that you’re back in his arms, he knows everything will be okay, especially with the familiar feeling of your hands carding through his hair.

“i’m really sorry. i didn’t mean to be that mean,” he begins after a moment of silence. it takes a few more seconds for him to continue, “i was just freaking out seein’ you get hurt and i was really fuckin’ panicking because those injuries were totally avoidable. i should have protected you and i shouldn't have gone at you for just doing your job. i was scared.”

you can't help but melt a little at his confession, and the way you can feel him frown into your skin whilst tugging you closer, you feel more loved than ever fathomable.

“thank you, katsuki. i appreciate it but you know i can take care of myself, and i know you’re always going to protect me when i need it. i trust you, more than anyone else.”

bakugo closes his eyes in content as he tugs himself closer to you than what should be considered possible. you welcome him for all of his roughness and raggedness. he just might be doomed if he didn't have you.

“we should really move in together,” you suggest.

“yeah, yeah we should.”

after a few minutes of silence, you begin to speak up, “i have my night patrol soon, you have to let me go, babe.”

he squeezes you tighter, “but i literally just got you! i’m getting my three days worth of attention, fuck your patrol.”

“that’s not very heroic of you,” you murmur, “now let me go.”

“no.”

above all, bakugo katsuki loves you.

You're Pregnant... Katsuki Made Sure To Remind You Every Single Time You Leaned/bent Over To Pick Something

you're pregnant... katsuki made sure to remind you every single time you leaned/bent over to pick something up, when you attempted to cook something for him before he gets back from work, or even if you tried to make the bed in the mornings... he fussed over the littlest things, refusing to let you exert yourself in any manner, other than the exercises he planned out for you...

then front door burst open, and katsuki stomped in, arms loaded with grocery bags, as he kicked off his boots. his gaze immediately moved from the smiled you greeted him with on your face, to the vacuum cleaner, still on in your hand.

"the hell d'ya think yer doin'?" he barked, dumping the bags onto the kitchen counter. before you could even open your mouth to respond, he was already striding across the room, snatching the vacuum from your hands like it was some sort of threat. "are ya' outta yer damn mind?"

you blinked at him, caught completely off guard by his sudden outburst. "i was just cleaning, katsuki... relax."

"relax?" his voice jumped an octave, disbelief dripping from his tone. he jabbed a finger toward your growing belly, to remind you yet again, as if you weren't walking around with all day. "y' shouldn't be messin' with this crap!"

crossing your arms, you fought to keep calm. "babe i'm pregnant, not incapable... the living room was a disaster, and i wanted to do something about it."

"i don't give a damn about the livin' room!" he fired back, his hands flying as he gestured. "what if you tripped? or hurt yourself? or—"

"or what? did something to pass time until you came home?" you cut in, narrowing your eyes. "i wasn't doing anything dangerous, katsuki. it's vacuuming, not weightlifting."

his jaw tightened, the muscles visibly straining as his teeth ground together. "doesn't matter. this ain't happenin' again."

you raised a brow, letting out a disbelieving scoff. "oh, really?" you grabbed a pillow from the couch and lobbed it at him, square in the chest, and he caught it, his expression a mix of shock and annoyance. "you're being ridiculous!"

"ridiculous?" he repeated, his tone dropping into that familiar low growl that always made your heart skip. tossing the pillow aside, he pointed firmly at the couch. "sit. down. now."

you held your ground, the heat of irritation flaring up again. "katsuki—"

"don't 'katsuki' me!" he snapped, his stance shifting as his hands found his hips, and he watched you up and down, with that stubborn glint in his eyes... "you either sit, or i make you."

"you wouldn't dare," you shot back, glaring at him.

"wanna test me?" he challenged, stepping closer, daring you to defy him.

the sheer intensity of his protectiveness was as frustrating as it was endearing. with an exaggerated sigh, you flopped onto the couch. "there. happy?"

"for now," he grumbled, shooting you a final warning glance before heading toward the coffee table to start tidying up the clutter.

leaning back against the cushions, you watched him work, your earlier irritation slowly fading away, taking in the tension in his shoulders, the tight set of his jaw—he wasn't just being overbearing. he was scared, though he'd never admit it.

"you're way more stressed about this whole pregnancy thing than i am." you teased, breaking the silence.

"yeah, well," he muttered without looking at you, stacking magazines with unnecessary force, "i can't do much else, so i'm makin' sure you don' screw anythin' up."

a soft chuckle escaped your lips, "your impossible," you teased, picking up a pillow to hold it against your belly.

"yeah, yeah," he replied, his tone softer now. he glanced your way briefly, the worry in his eyes undeniable. "i just don' want anythin' happenin' t' ya' or our kid."

your heart softened at his honesty. "i get it, kats."

"good." he said, returning to his self-appointed task. "now shut up 'n let me finish this. i'll do it better anyway."

you gasped dramatically, by the jab at your cleaning skills, and threw another pillow at him, landing it against the side of his face, the shocked glare that followed was sooo worth it. and he just watched as you held his brat in your belly, laughing at him.

knight! iida x fem! reader summary: sent to protect you, left with feelings word count: 3.5k a/n: YEEEEE im back besties

Unreachable
Unreachable

Iida had been training for this moment - the moment he’d step into the castle for the first time and be awed by the sight. The moment where he’d be assigned to be sent off to some gallant land and fight for his kingdom and gain glory.

He’d thrown away his childhood for training in order to uphold his family name of being protectors of the kingdom. And now that he stood in front of the castle with all the other glossy eyed new recruits, he couldn’t believe he’d finally made it. All the sacrifice would be worth it now that he’d be able to bring a good name to himself and his family through his work.

Soon enough, he and the others standing besides him were ushered in, where they were met by the knights of the castle. Straight and rigid as they stood, Tenya passed them with a small gleam of anxiety growing in his chest. Whispers were coming from those around him, and he picked up the words of “princess” and “staying”.

It was a curious thought, and he wasn’t exactly sure how those words fit together in this situation. But he never asked for clarification - deeming it unimportant as he continued to follow behind the crowd of recruits to the room where they'd be assigned their posts.

He wasn’t scared though, as he suspected some of those around him were. He was top of his class, with perfect records on all of his assessments. He was heavily skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship. Everything he’d built himself on was the foundation of a perfect knight, both strong and daring with just the right amount of sense about him. His assignment was sure to be the best.

Finally reaching the throne room, the guards who’d been leading them into the castle had them line up one by one as the King walked in with a stern eye and parchment in hand.

Tenya noticed everyone beside him straighten their posture instantly, as they kept their gaze forward with heavy stares.

It was silent now. No more clanking of armor or swords.

The King quickly cleared his throat before speaking, “Good day to you gentlemen. Before starting, I’d like to applaud you for dedicating yourself to your kingdom. It’s no secret that the process is grueling and demanding, requiring you to give up everything to train. That makes the fact that you went through with the program and stayed more commendable, and I thank you for that.”

There were a few signs of exhaustion beside him and whispers, but Tenya’s face remained like stone. His arms remained rigid and he didn’t dare speak out of turn.

“Now, here's the moment where all your training gets put to use. I expect you’ve all understood from the beginning the locations at which we are currently at war with or fighting in, and have an idea as to the requirements of those jobs.

Here are your assignments. Katsuki Bakugou, please step up.”

Tenya rolled his eyes at the name. He found Bakugou to be a cumbersome individual, someone who clearly thought too highly of himself.

“I’m assigning you to the Narva borders,” the King continued on as one of his assistants handed Bakugou a piece of parchment.

“Thank you, My Lord,” Bakugou bowed, and Tenya could hear the gloating tone heavy in his voice. He was definitely more than pleased about his assignment.

“Tenya Iida.”

A breath was sucked in unknowingly, but Tenya stepped forward with a concentrated look still in his eye. His heart was thumping, and it was strange to think that someone as highly trained as him was nervous about something. Anxiety was something he hadn’t felt in quite some time.

“This isn’t a normal assignment, but I deem you fit enough for the task,” the King spoke. “I’m assigning you to watch over my daughter.”

What?

Tenya’s eyes widened dramatically, but he didn’t dare turn his head to face the King. What kind of assignment was this? How would he be able to get glory from this? What did all his training do if he wasn’t able to bring anything to his family in return?

“Thank you, Your Majesty,” his voice wavered before stepping back.

There were snickers and whispers heard from around him, and Tenya almost wanted to disappear.

- - - - - - - - - -

“May I ask why this was given as my assignment?” Tenya asked the knight in front of him tentatively.

The man under the armor sighed, and Tenya could almost hear the roll of his eyes while they walked down the corridor.

“She’s quite the menace: escaped from the palace at least fifteen times and tried many more. It’s apparently because she has some lover outside the palace who she’s not allowed to meet.”

Tenya only hummed in response, as he followed behind slowly.

“I think the king assigned this to you because you showed promise in your report. No knight has ever lasted more than a couple weeks of being assigned to her; so they have to rotate who’s watching her weekly since we eventually ran out.

“Tonight, you’ll be posted outside her balcony - you better get some rest,” the knight finished.

Iida only sighed and nodded, and that was the end of the conversation.

- - - - - - - - - -

The night was relatively nice, with a soft breeze that whisked itself over the castle - gathering the moonlight in its wake as it brought a beautiful mood. It was nice and peaceful, and Tenya appreciated it dearly.

He was still upset though, over the events that had transpired. All his training and all his sacrifice was being put to watch over some bratty princess who wanted to be some non-noble. It was almost stupid now that he was thinking about it, that his skills were being put to use over something so.. unimportant.

He just stood under your balcony wishing he’d had the courage to speak up against the king. He wished he would have demanded another position - something more suitable of his status. Maybe something even more suited to his family. Wasn’t his family well known for their ability to produce knights? Why did the king assign him to something so mundane then?

Light suddenly flooded the ground from the balcony above, and Iida almost jumped at the soft sigh that came afterwards.

It was the princess.

He felt as his back immediately straightened, his arms no longer stood limp at his sides. His heart was thumping faster now as he made sure to maintain his perfect posture. It was rigid and stone-placed and he remained silent. It was rude to speak first to those above you. He didn’t want to offend you.

“Knight,” you called out.

Tenya paused at the sound, unsure of how he was supposed to react. Should he answer?

“You’re the only one out here,” you sighed. “There isn’t anyone else I’m addressing.”

“I apologize, Your Highness,” his voice called back, and you quickly noticed the slight wavering tone that he carried - he was nervous.

“I was unsure whether it was improper for me to speak to you,” he finished.

“There’s no need for formalities, I just wanted to talk to someone for once. It’s quite lonely to be alone all the time.”

A quick laugh followed that statement.

“Well actually,” you continued, “I suppose being alone and being lonely are the same thing, wouldn’t you say so?”

“In my opinion, Your Highness,” his voice came out, wavering, “Being alone causes loneliness. They could be considered the same thing, however they are infinitely different.”

“I suppose you’re correct,” you chuckled. “But anyways, I wanted to congratulate you on your new position. You must be honored.”

He heard the joking tone in your voice, and he knew you were being sarcastic.

“Of course. I’m honored to serve my Kingdom in any way it needs me,” he gritted out.

Even if it needs me to look after its spoiled brat of a princess.

A laugh was heard from you once more, and Tenya was surprised by that reaction. He’d almost expected a huff and a scowl, or if he was lucky enough - a reassignment.

“I’m surprised you even opened your mouth to speak to me,” you mused. “None of the others before even bothered to speak to me. No wonder I’d end up sneaking away from them in the end.”

“Apologies, Your Highness. I didn’t mean to offend.”

“Enough with the formalities,” you yawned. “They’re unnecessary. You’ll be watching over me, right? It’s inevitable that we’ll become friends of some sort.”

“How do you deem that inevitable?” he finally looked up and peered above him.

Even with the helmet heavy on his head, he was able to make out your form standing above him and basking in the light from your room. You could’ve been described as some godly figure in that light, and if he wanted to look at the situation poetically he could have - especially with the way your face was shone on.

But he clearly wasn’t here for those reasons - stupid reasons.

“Well, I’m only thinking out loud here. If we continue to talk the way we are, I supposed we’d be able to find at least one common ground between us,” you smirked from above. Your elbows were leaning over the railing now, and he could see the gown you were wearing as it flowed in the wind about you.

Something about you in that moment felt untouchable, or for a better term unreachable. Maybe it was the attitude you had, or the class differences. He wasn’t quite sure at that moment.

But, you reached out to him first that night.

“Would you like a drink? We could toast to our new sort of “friendship”, if you’re not adamant on insisting it won’t occur.”

You were giving him these pleading eyes, ones he knew he shouldn’t have listened to, but he shook his head and sighed anyways. You were royalty after all, and as much as he seemed to dislike the childish nature about you he couldn’t exactly outright bash you for it. And he supposed it would be something he got used to, over time at least.

“Sure,” he nodded firmly.

He didn’t notice the slight glint in your eye when he raised himself to reach your balcony. It wasn’t high from the ground, and it was a simple task to bring himself over the stone railings to be standing next to the glass doors to your room.

Tenya wasn’t quite sure how, but the floral scent was much sweeter from your balcony - and he was unable to determine whether it was the wind coming from the gardens or from you. That was until you suddenly appeared beside him, and the honeysuckle and lily could be detected from just the thought of your presence.

But he took the glass from your hand without a second thought, gulping it down while you only stood and smiled in response. Your glass remained in your hand, untouched, and Tenya looked quickly after finishing to ask why you hadn’t even pressed the glass to your lips - that was, until he’d started to feel lightheaded and realized why.

You escaped once more that first night.

- - - - - - - - - -

Besides the initial setback of you running away that first night, and the repercussions you both faced, your friendship surprisingly continued onwards. It became rare to see the two of you apart, and it wasn’t just because it was technically Tenya’s job to “watch you”, so to speak. And even more surprising, Tenya found he began to enjoy your company more than he’d previously expected.

You loved having philosophical and intellectual conversations with him - discussing history, ideas, thoughts, poetry, literature - and he loved partaking in them. It was quite odd in his opinion, the way his view of you seemed to change so quickly and easily. There was much more to you than had originally met his eye - evident by the time the two of you would spend in the library - and he quite enjoyed that sentiment.

Today was a continuation of this, with you sitting on one of the benches in the garden with a book in hand as you recited the poetry within. The roses had recently bloomed, and the garden was filled with the twinkling of dew and the buzzing of lazy honeybees flitting from flower to flower - while your voice reciting poetry in the middle seemed to fit the afternoon perfectly.

“You know, you’re the kind to be driven by rules and regulations,” you suddenly commented as he heard the book snap shut. “May I ask why that is?”

At first glance, Tenya only turned to look at you curiously. He thought it was quite the obvious answer.

“Following the rules and regulations set before us is our duty, in many ways,” he commented thoughtfully. “They were set in order to protect us, thus we must obey them. They’re generally there to help keep peace, or make certain aspects of life better.”

“Generally.” you emphasized quickly. “And if they’re set in order to discriminate? Do we still follow them?”

Tenya swallowed thickly, observing the raised eyebrow you were giving while contemplating how he should phrase his answer.

“Well… then they should be eradicated.”

You simply hummed at his words, and he watched your head bob slightly before you lifted yourself from the bench gracefully, book still in your arms as you approached him.

“Then the rule preventing royals from marrying one of the commonfolk is unfair? It was made in hopes to keep the bloodline from becoming ‘dirtied’ after all.”

Tenya’s eyebrows furrowed under the heavy helmet, pondering over why you might have been bringing up such a topic at this time. At first it was quite the puzzle, but the marriage aspect clicked in an instant. He remembered the words the knight who’d told him his duties had said, the rumors about you constantly escaping due to a lover who was outside the palace. And suddenly he was curious, so curious, in fact, that he was unable to censor himself in time.

“I’m assuming this question has to do with the rumors of the ‘lover’ you supposedly have outside the palace,” he turned to you with almost narrowed eyes.

“You’ve figured me out quickly.” You let out a sigh or chuckle, a cross between both or a sound he couldn’t identify, before giving him a tired smile. “Yes. I was meeting someone outside the palace for some time.”

Tenya paused at your word choice. “...Was?”

“The last time I saw him, the night you started watching me, he told me to stop meeting him. He told me it was too hard for us to continue our ‘affair’ if he wouldn’t be able to remain by my side permanently for the rest of our lives - at least considering that there’s no guarantee for it to happen. And as much as I disagreed with his way of going about it, I couldn’t exactly blame him for his actions. I understand his point of view,” you smiled bitterly.

“That’s why you haven’t escaped since,” Tenya all but thought out loud, barely even realizing he was doing so.

“Of course,” you sighed. “There’s nothing to leave for. There’s no joy in the idea of finding something better outside this palace anymore. I’m just stuck here now without a shred of hope or sense of myself.”

You looked at the rose bush sitting next to you sadly, a reminiscent look stuck in your expression as your fingers began carefully tracing the petals of one of the buds.

Tenya watched as you began reaching your hand into the bush, presumedly to pluck one, and it felt almost too late as he tried to stop you.

“The thorns-”

It was too late, he heard the snap of the branch from the bush as you gently pulled the rose out. He was almost expecting there to be scratches or blood of some sort covering your soft fingers but they were perfectly fine.

“There are none,” you showed him, rolling the stem in between your fingers as he watched the flower petals twirl in the air. “They have them removed so I can’t hurt myself.”

“I apologize-”

“No matter,” you giggled. “There’s no need for you to be so formal anymore Tenya. We’ve known each other for months now.”

Yet I feel as if I’ve known you for lifetimes, much more than my current existence.

“But,” you continued. “That’s why I’m grateful for your company. Without it, I’m guessing I’d be wallowing myself in my own pity constantly.”

You carefully twirled the rose in your nimble fingers once more, before handing it to Tenya with a smile. His large fingers met yours in that single instance, and he only stared at the rose in astonishment at your actions for a few seconds.

That was, until you’d already moved on from the moment as you happily swung away, calling out, “Let’s go find another book to read.”

“You’re leaving?”

Tenya only nodded in response, unable to reach your gaze or the sad way your eyes had turned inwards with a downcast expression.

It was true. He’d been assigned to head a section of the gentry out on the borders of Déspoir. It really only was because you hadn’t escaped since the first night he’d met you, and the king actually had recognized his accomplishments when he’d gone through training all that while ago.

And it was funny now that Tenya was thinking about the whole situation, as all those months ago he would’ve been so incredibly excited at the prospect of getting to go out into the middle of the battlefield and gain glory for him and his family in the best way possible. But now? He didn’t want to go - he didn’t want to leave you.

And maybe it was only due to the close friendship you both shared and the time you’d spent together, but there was almost an aching feeling in his chest when he saw the downcast expression over your face. It almost burned, and the heat was welling up in his eyes as they felt heavy and watery.

The closeness he felt towards you was unwarranted, and he realized, at this moment, that the so-called “closeness” he felt towards you had given birth to another feeling. And the fact that it was something he’d only just noticed was due to the burning present in his emotions.

And suddenly, there was so much wanted to say to you - his mind racing as the idea began forming in his mind in that one instant. He couldn’t bear to feel it as he left.

But he did the next day, trying to ignore your teary-eyed waves while he hid his own.

Little did he know that your heart reached and yearned in the same way - painfully stretching itself when you realized that he was no longer with you, that he would no longer accompany you around the palace or listen to your escapades in poetry or literature.

The days afterwards became bleak and boring, with no one to argue with or anyone to bother. You were left to your lonesome, wandering the gardens and plucking flowers, or holing up in the cold library at night to read.

It lasted about two weeks, with you only mulling yourself over in the sadness you’d brought upon yourself. Surely your stupid self should’ve realized your feelings sooner, and not mistaken them as friendship.

But that was until a letter arrived, and the words From Tenya were scribbled hastily over the envelope. You’d dashed straight up to your room after receiving it, closing the door behind you to make sure some maid wasn’t there, before tearing it open and fumbling with the paper so you could read it.

__

My Princess,

I feel that this letter should’ve been written earlier, but I must confess I was too shy to do so. Perhaps what’s being said here should've been said before I left, but saying it at some point is better than never saying it.

I must confess that I’ve held feelings for you, and that since I’ve left, the feelings I’ve held for you have gotten stronger.

The way your eyes sparkle under the heat of the sun when we strolled, the distinct floral scent that seemed to follow as you walked, the rouge of your cheeks like the sun when it set, the blinding smile that everyone was caught by, the sound of your laugh that never failed to brighten my day - all of it seems to be the only thing I can ever think about.

You’re forever in my mind, Princess - and there’s no means to rid of you.

I understand if you don’t return these affections, you are quite unreachable when it comes to our positions - but please note my feelings if you don’t return them.

I send you warm wishes regardless, and hope that you are as full of life as you had been when I’d left. I miss your presence either way, it was soothing to spend time with you.

Stay safe, and out of trouble (as I’m not there to chastise you), and I do hope to see you soon.

Yours, Tenya

𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐞?

it’s been years since your allied kingdoms have met, and the last time you saw the crown prince oikawa, he was a little snotty nosed brat who liked to swipe sweet delights from under the baker’s nose, and have a tantrum whenever he lost a game of dice to you. the fond memories brought a small smile to your painted lips, but for some odd reason your heart was still racing at the thought of seeing him again after so long. you're mind wandered back to a couple days prior, when your ladies in waiting gossiped about his notable beauty, and how he’s one of the most sought after bachelors in his kingdom. even further in fact, some have whispered.

suddenly trumpets rang through the throne room, shaking you of your thoughts, and instinctively you raised your chin and straightened your back. no matter how impressive he may be, you are still the crown princess of your kingdom, and you weren’t going to let a man play with your nerves and make your knees buckle. you’ve dealt with much too much to let that happen.

the enormous doors embellished with swirls of gold, and carvings of mythical animals pushed open, revealing an entourage of various knights in gleaming silver armour, and footmen dressed smartly with splashes of the familiar pale teal colour adorning their chests. the fanfare of trumpets rippled through the magnificent room and reverberated off the soaring ceilings. you forgot how grand their entrances always were; the oikawa family really did love to have a splendid show.

the golden trumpets finished their welcome, and the noble people of the royal court took their cue to stand up in respect of the royalty about to appear. the mass of silver and teal parted and the beloved crown prince oikawa tōru finally emerged in all his glory.

the whispers were right. and you hated it with a growing passion in each of his assured steps. you hated the gentle tousle of his caramel hair, and how it shined under the golden sunlight. you hated the way he commanded the room with a cool poise, and cunning smirk. you hated how fitted and flattering his royal clothing looked on him, the ivory white and the accents of pale teal complimenting his fair skin so perfectly. you hated how as he strode to greet your parents, his clear brown eyes glanced over at you, and your heart seemed to stop for a moment. you hate how as he came to greet you and took your gloved hand with his own, looking up at you through his lashes as he gently brushed his lips against your knuckle with a knowing smile, you forget how to breath.

“it’s been a while, my lady.”

NOT EATING FOR A DAY (COMFORT)

image

With: ♡ Bokuto + Oikawa ♡ (x chubby,gn!reader)

Warnings: not eating, hurt - comfort

WC: ~800

Emergency Request:  Oikawa and Bokuto with a chubby female reader who’s feeling nauseous after not eating a whole day, because her parents were making comments about her body? ~ “my father recently told me that Oikawa wouldn’t want me with how I look and what can I say, that hurt..”

AN: okay, reading this made me very angry. all of the haikyuu boys would love you no matter what you look like. and especially oikawa and bokuto would find you incredibly attractive because of the way you look. your body is beautifully, intricately designed. they wouldn’t be able to help admiring you. and what does your dad know about these characters? has he met them?

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*   ʙᴏᴋᴜᴛᴏ  *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

“And I got you an iced tea! Your favourite kind, too!” You could hear Bokuto’s excited voice from the receiver, and the pain in the pit of your stomach worsened.

“Oh… Bokuto… I’m really not hungry, so you can have it…”

“What do you mean?”

“I… I just, I don’t want to eat anything right now.”

“Is everything okay? Just wait, babygirl, I’ll be right there.”

“Okay,” you said softly, and he hung up. You were becoming increasingly uncomfortable. You hadn’t eaten all day in a much-advised-against attempt to lose wait, and you were feeling its effects. You were so miserable that you thought eating at this point would probably make it worse.

Bokuto was there a few minutes later, and, as always, greeted you with a big, warm hug, full iced tea in one hand. He kissed your forehead, and it was only after that that he noticed your expression.

“Baby, are you okay? I still have the iced tea…”

“Like I said, Ko, I’m really not that hungry…”

[Shoto Todoroki x Sick!Reader]~Princess

image

A/n-As Requested by @astralmysteria, this is Todoroki taking care of his s/o who is sick. To backtrack, you have been in serious heat frustration with this unbreakable fever. No matter what you did you couldn’t get it to break.

You felt miserable, you were sitting in your dorm room under a very very thin sheet to try and keep your body from getting any hotter. Seems that there’s a sickness going around U.A, and you were the next lucky victim to fall ill. According to your friends Mina and Uraraka, it was apparently Aizawa who had started this unfortunate chain of events. You must admit, you were very surprised when you found out this news and that’s only because Aizawa always looked so tired that you never would have figured out he was sick. Very unethically smart you thought.

It was mid-morning on a Wednesday as you coughed up your lungs for the time you could no longer count. You felt bad missing valuable training time and academic classes; you knew you were gonna be behind the longer you missed. All your friends knew you were sick, your teachers knew you were sick, but Todoroki didn’t…You knew it was wrong to keep something as important as your health from your own boyfriend, but you didn’t want to waste his time taking care of you when he could become a pro-hero someday. In order to do that, he had to live up to his fathers expectations even if you were against that whole idea.

For the last 2 painful nights you had been bedridden and trying the best you could to fall asleep. The extreme heat given off by the fever was enabling you from doing that. It was more than just a fever however. There was also your standard cold symptoms which projected worse than a normal cold. That was because of your mind-reading quirk. The downside of this quirk was major headaches and heavy-hitting symptoms when you got sick. You rarely got sick but this is what happens when you did.

You laid on the side of the bed under the thin sheet you were covered with. As you laid there with the most painful headache ever, you hear a soft voice at your door, fallowed by a soft knock. You didn’t say a word.

“When were you gonna tell me that you weren’t feeling well?” That voice belonged to your boyfriend, none other than Shoto Todoroki.

“Hmmm, how’d you find out?” You groaned, not making eye contact with him.

“I got suspicious after you didn’t show up for 2 days, and Mina wasn’t so quiet..” he giggled softly.

“Sorry, you have more important things to do than watch your s/o be sick” you coughed, feeling a pulse from your smashing headache.

“Don’ say that, you’re important to me and I love you very much” he smiled, walking towards your bed with a grocery bag.

“I didn’t want to be a burden, so I didn’t tell you” your voice quivered.

“You are never a burden, I know I like doing things alone, but I love you” he said, sitting on the bed beside you. His hand resting on yours.

“Okay..” you croaked, looking at your boyfriend with sleep-deprived eyes.

When Shoto looked at your weak and fragile body, he set the bag on the floor and climbed in bed with you. “Move over” he whispered.

“Shoto?…” you questioned, feeling burning in your eyes.

“You’re burning up, how long have you had a fever?” He asked, wrapping his arms around your very heated body.

“Counting today…3″ you paused, with a heavy sigh.

“3 days???” Shoto said, with a shocked expression. Worry soon spread throughout his face.

As Shoto’s arms remained tightly around your body, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and safety as his presence soothed the painful feelings you felt. To make things better, Shoto began rubbing your back and massaging your head. He could tell you had a headache and wanted to do anything for the person he loved. As you were starting to fall asleep, you could feel a cold sensation spread around you.

“I’m using the cold side of my quirk to lower your fever, you should of told me sooner but I’m not mad” you heard Todoroki whisper, knowing you were about to fall asleep.

“Thanks for everything, I appreciate it” you managed to say, in between a yawn.

“You’re my princess for a reason, I will always love you till the end of time” Todoroki said, planting a soft kiss on your already cooler forehead.
