Percy Jackson was the blue print for Jim lake jr, his love for Barbara is so Percy and Sally Jackson coded. They both have mythical mentors that led them down their paths. They both have a best friend that's been at their side for as long as they can remember. They both have incredible book smart girlfriends they'd die for in an instant.
