The tiktok-ification of tumblr is just š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢
I know I posted about Goncharov and Defunctland last night, but that was an earnest desire to see this trend examined under a microscope because itās fascinating to see it escape containment.
However, while I know most folks are just having a bit of fun with it, the number of people complaining that others are āruiningā the joke by tagging it for unreality is too damn high.
Iāve answered far too many asks in private in the last 24 hours from folks with psychosis begging me to tell them if Goncharov is real or not because they trust me, someone they donāt know beyond my medical advocacy posts, not to lie to them.
So in case you need this: No, Goncharov is not real. Itās Tumblr having a bit of fun with a made up gangster story premise from the 1970s. Most of the gifsets you are seeing are from The Godfather and some other 70s and early 80s films. The musical scores are being composed by some very talented people here on Tumblr, as is most of the art and quotes.
Iām sorry if people are telling you it is real and are refusing to reassure you when you admit itās causing you distress. Some people are just taking things too far for the bit and arenāt acting with kindness. I hope they will reconsider.
If you were unaware that the Goncharov is causing some people some considerable distress, thatās okay. Tumblr is huge and you canāt be expected to know everything, but please do tag all your posts and reblogs with unreality to assure people that itās part of the site-wide joke.
If youāre one of the people complaining that tagging it with unreality āruinsā the joke, please reconsider and examine why your enjoyment of peopleās distress is necessary to your enjoyment of an otherwise fun and crowd sourced bit that many people are having fun with without being cruel.
Anyway, go have fun you creative little gremlins. Just do it with more kindness.
REFUSE the vile temptation of transgressive speech like ākysā.... EMBRACE responsibility and adopt the go-getter mantra: I'M going to kill YOU.
you heathens will reblog day specific posts any day of the week. i woke up thinking it was wednesday
feelin' this one today lads
Had a dream this morning that Archive of our Own had a Random button which would simply take you to a random fanfic, like Wikipedia has. (AO3 does not appear to really have this, I checked and couldnāt find one, but I kinda wish they did.) Someone had started a game where whatever fic you got, that was your new fandom, which is very fun! I would love this meme in real life.
The problem came in where so many people used the button that it broke and just started sending everyone to Stealing Harry, and likeā¦I have fond memories of Stealing Harry but itās not my best work and nobody should be assigned to be a Harry Potter fan in this day and age.
So I decide to go off and find Astolat and demand she fix this but when I finally did (there was a whole quest) she turned to me like the baddie in a horror flick and said, āBut thatās the most random story there isā in a dark voice and I was terrified and woke up.
In the cold light of day I know there are more random stories by me on the archive, let alone by others, but Iām not going to try to get back there to argue my case. Pretty sure whatever I spoke to was actually the demon specifically assigned to plague fandom and not Astolat at all.
Iād say āget thee behind me, demonā but I know just how many porny fics on AO3 begin with that premise. (Iāve written some.) Begone foul spirit, and take your Satanic Panic with you!
Everybody stop what youāre doing RIGHT NOW and celebrate the last Out of Touch Thursday of 2020
...After this episode, that gag of Gusā illusions going out of his control to act on their own, misbehaving against his orders like they have their own rebellious minds that turn on their creator; Sure takes on a new meaning huh?
I wonder if itās like a representation of Gusā own anxieties and insecurity over his abilities spiraling out of control, via his own magic refusing to comply... Like heās trying to tell his mind to comply and get it together, which then just adds to this shot;
As if Gus has lost his patience with his self-sabotaging mind and is telling it to knock it off, which I can def relate to.
Please kick it with your little cousins, nieces/nephews and siblings on breaks when you come home. You have no idea how cool you might be to them. Ask them about school and their hobbies. Please let them know you care and love them. Donāt ignore the kids. Please.
So Arizona launched an āeducation hotlineā that allows āconcerned parentsā to report āāācritical race theoryāāā and other things like ~gender identity~ being taught in the classroom
It would be a shame if the number and email were spread to bad actors looking to prank call the AZ Department of Education

The tumblr meme trend of reblogging a post and adding "Investing on this when it's still at low notes" has reworked the popularity economy of the site by reminding people that leaving their mark on any given post - specifically in the form of reblogs to spread it to their followers and inflict more notes upon the hapless OP - is the only mechanism to spread information, art, or shitposts throughout the site. While it's currently only catching on for jokes and taunting dares of apollo's dodgeball of prophecy, if this behavior could carry over to original content, it could reverse the disheartening trend of enthusiastic creators sharing their work, only to receive quiet approval in the forms of likes and for the post to go dead within a few hours. Here's why we should start "investing" in small creators for tumblr clout. In this essay I will...
