Anyone else constantly on edge because we are in the final stages of late capitalism and these next couple of decades are gonna be make or break for the western world, and this just happens to coincide with the part of my life where I’m supposed to make something of myself :/

Do not put your bunny on it’s back.

It may seem ‘‘relaxed’‘ or ‘‘sleeping’‘, but this is incredibly unhealthy.

They are  in a state of tonic immobility and are not relaxed, hypnotized, or insensitive to pain.

Scientists believe that this is a defense mechanism brought on when a rabbit has already been ‘caught’ by a predator. If the rabbit appears dead, the predator may release its grip momentarily and allows the rabbit to escape. Research has shown that rabbits in this state show an increased heart and respiratory rate with elevated plasma corticosterone levels, indicative of fear-induced stress.

The stress caused by this position can be fatal if rabbits are already suffering from respiratory and cardiovascular disease, and the sudden transition to from passive and active escape can be unpredictable and instantaneous which can result in significant injury to the rabbit. Sudden noise or painful stimuli can interrupt the trance and there is considerable variation in individual susceptibility to the technique

Your rabbit will display the following behaviors if it is tranced:

Closed eyes

Shallow fast breathing

Relaxed limbs

It’s honestly sickening to see people buying bunnies for their cuteness and softness, but not educating themselves on how to actually take care of it. If you keep trancing your bunny on purpose or bathing it, you deserve to have your pets taken away from you.

-This is Elijah, they are 15 years old.

-Elijah is genderfluid but usually male, on female/neutral days they go by Ellie, they go by either he/him or they/them pronouns. 

-Eli has to be in a wheelchair most of the time, they have severe chronic pain and issues with muscle weakness/balance, though they can stand they can’t do so for long and it puts them in extreme pain.

-They are autistic, and openly so, they stim constantly, and their biggest special interests are space, old cartoons, and astrology (they’re a libra sun, virgo moon and taurus rising!).

-Big disaster bi, always confused and has absolutely no idea what’s going on ever, but also very bi and a hopeless romantic and gets crushes on everyone who’s even mildly attractive or who’s ever nice to them, they have a boyfriend (who I’ll post soon) whose the light of their life and they love.

-Their family is very accepting of them, and their 3 younger siblings absolutely adore them as their big sibling

-They have a service dog (A golden retriever) named Scotch, who they love a lot and they are rarely seen without

-Elijah reeeaaalllyyy likes puzzles, they do like a lot of jigsaw puzzles in their spare time, and are really good at them.
