There are plenty of posts that go around focused on hating t*rfs/exclusionists. I wanted to make a post that is about love.

I love you, gay people. I love you, lesbians. I love you, bisexuals. I love you, pansexuals. I love you, asexuals. I love you, aromantics. I love you, people on either or both of those spectrums. I love you, polyamorous people. I love you, queer people.

I love you, transgender people. I love you, transfemmes and transmascs and transneutrals and trans-something elses. I love you, nonbinary people. I love you, genderfluid people. I love you, genderqueer people. I love you, two-spirit people. I love you, intersex people. I love you, people who can’t or don’t want to medically transition. I love you, people who are cis and unapologetically fuck with gender.

I love you, people who are out. I love you, people who are in the closet. I love you, people who are both in different circumstances. I love you, people who are only out about parts of their identity. I love you, people who feel the need to simplify their identity down to something people understand better.

I love you, people who are still figuring it out. I love you, people who are actively putting off figuring it out because you are not in a safe environment to explore that. I love you, people who have changed labels multiple times. I love you, people who have experimented with your gender or sexuality and found it wasn’t for you, but you have a better understanding of yourself from it.

I love you, cishet allies who are actively fighting for our rights, whether it’s on behalf of people you love or because it’s the right thing to do. I love you, supportive cishet parents, partners, and friends.

Hey you know what sucks is predatory companies that make you enter your email address so that they can harass and advertise to you to access resources you might need to keep track of expenses after a disaster. So, uh, fuck them.

If you need to track the cost of things like hotel stays, pet kenneling, medical care, etc. after a disaster you can use this worksheet.

If you need to create an inventory of your home for an insurance claim (and if you'd like to do this to keep someplace safe before a disaster) you can use this worksheet (two pages, instructions on the first page, worksheet on the second).

And here's a FEMA document with numbers for disaster relief groups and a checklist of documents that you may need to have replaced as well as a description of what to do if you had cash in your home that was destroyed and can possibly be replaced.

imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.

for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.

You want to call your House rep now and tell them Trump needs to be impeached immediately for defying a Supreme Court order (re: Kilmar Abrego Garcia), which functionally voids our constitution and means no one in America has rights anymore.

I am not exaggerating.

As of now, anybody can be disappeared, no due process, no recourse. Trump is openly disregarding a Supreme Court order and says he’ll send US citizens to El Salvador.

This is not a drill.

Call your House rep and tell them they must impeach. Tell them if they cannot bring themselves to impeach, they must resign. A more open and shut case to impeach is not possible. Trump and his administration are saying openly, in public, that anybody can be kidnapped by ICE, even in error, and disappeared permanently.

Call your senators, too, and tell them to support impeachment (it goes to them once it passes a majority House vote).
