after the discourse about lucas, and billy, and argyle lately, as well as the assumption people have that byler is "only popular bc it involves two skinny white boys" (hahah i think this a thing that definitely happens, i just dont think it applies here) im just curious:

how many of us in this tag/"byler nation" are (BI)PoC?

if you are, comment or tag your reblog with "PoC" or something to indicate (idk "present!"? you're favourite emoji? loll) – if you're comfortable ofc. i just want to get an idea of the stats here. no need to disclose your race or ethnicity – unless again, you wanted to for any reason.

sometimes i wonder just how many of us are present when discussing stuff like the racism and violence lucas and erica face, billy's racist ass, racial slurs (even if period accurate) in the show, any stereotyping or flat characterization of the few non-white characters on stranger things, etc.

i have no other goal than to ensure that other byler fans know they aren't alone on here, that is all. have a nice day, everyone!

“Hello, Dean,”

“Cas,”

Silence.

“It’s been a while,”

“Yes,”

“Care to enlighten me?”

“Dean, I-“

“Cuz that was one hell of a ‘goodbye’ you gave me back there, y’know,”

Cas doesn’t know what to say.

“Oh, so, now you’re speechless, huh,” Dean shakes his head in disbelief, “You can’t just - just SAY stuff like that and then fuck off into the ether without giving a guy a chance to PROCESS, Cas, okay?? You just don’t do it,”

“I appreciate it’s not the done thing, Dean, it was not my intention, believe me, it just spilled out of me-“

“Oh, I’m aware of the spilling. Me and the spillage: WELL acquainted,”

Castiel sighs, his expression pained.

“Dean, please do not make light of this. I will not apologise for what I said or how I feel-“

“Hey, hey, whoa, hey. Who the hell is making light here? Cuz I sure as hell ain’t. And you are not hearing me, man, what you said was not - you just DISAPPEARED. You were GONE - that was a dick move, Cas, and you know it.”

Dean takes a second to pace, hands on his hips, shaking his head. Cas can only watch as Dean works through the thoughts flying around his head.

“There are consequences, y’know? Repercussions. You can’t just tap out, you’ve gotta face the music-“

“Dean. Are you still talking to me?”

Dean whips his head around.

“Well, of course I’m talking to you, who else would I be talking to?”

“Well, I’m not sure, but it did sound an awful lot like you were talking to yourself.”

Dean just stands there, hands on his hips, nodding lightly, letting Cas’ words sink in. The question had been rhetorical of course, but then again, Cas had never fully grasped the concept.

“I would know,” Cas says.

The implications of Cas’ words wash over Dean.

Castiel. Angel of the Lord, ever present, ever watching.

“I’ll always watch over you, Dean Winchester,” Cas says, as if finishing Dean’s thought.

Cas studies Dean’s face, contemplative and serious.

“I should’ve known,” Cas breathes out a soft laugh and shakes his head “I’m such a fool. You still don’t believe me, do you? After everything I’ve done, after everything I’ve said, you still don’t believe you’re worthy of being saved. Of being loved,”

Dean glares at the floor, avoiding Castiel’s gaze.

“Always so stubborn. I should’ve known that mere words wouldn’t be enough. The sheer enormity of what I feel for you cannot be conveyed through the constriction of language. You were never a man of words. Words can be twisted. Words can be taken back. Words can be ignored, they can form lies and deceit. Something you’re all too familiar with. Something that I, too, have contributed to over the years I’ve known you. I was always a fool for you, Dean Winchester. No. Simply telling you isn’t enough. I have to show you.”

Castiel grabs Dean’s arm, his hand seals to the mark he seared into his skin when dragged him from Hell.

Dean gasps as what can only be described and Castiel’s feelings pour into Dean like a dam bursting through its banks.

Memories. Dean raking the leaves. Dean and Cas by the lake. Cas dropping the angel blade. But not just the memories - feelings. Just pure emotion. Everything Cas has ever felt for Dean flows through Deans every fibre. Consumes all that he is and all he ever will be.

A single tear falls.

Dean clutches onto Cas’ coat and drops to his knees.

A rush of something bursts from him.

It’s Cas’ turn to gasp.

Dean reverses the stream. Cas is slammed with everything Dean throws out at him. Cas feels everything. Everything Dean’s wanted to say but couldn’t find the words for. Because Dean doesn’t do words. Everything Dean felt for Cas from the moment he marked his arm to the moment he confessed his love. Because Dean wasn’t able to tell him. He wasn’t able to figure out what all those feelings meant, because they were just too much.

But, now, it’s just one feeling.

It flows through Cas like a warm all-encompassing glow; filling him, shaping him.

Cas drops to his knees.

They both gasp for air, clutching at one another, heads on each other’s shoulders, each consumed by the other.

“Dean, I-,”

“Cas? Shut up.”

Dean yanks Cas forward by the collar, planting his lips on Castiel’s in a searing kiss.

Cas jolts in sheer surprise. Then, he sinks into the feeling.

Suddenly, a ringing sound fills the air around them. A bright glow lights up the room.

Dean pulls back in surprise, his eyes wide.

Castiel’s wings fill the room and Dean simply cannot process the sheer size of them. He’s seen them in shadow, of course, but this is something else entirely. They’re not physical exactly, but they’re more than shadow now. They’re -

“Beautiful.”

The glow fades away along with the noise.

Cas can only stare into Dean’s eyes, his whole heart beared to his one true love.

“I’m gonna take that screeching as an ‘I love you, you dumbass’ and leave it at that,” Dean breathes out.

He touches his forehead to Cas’.

Cas leans into the touch. Their eyes drift shut.

“Yes, Dean.”

There are two basic arguments for shutting the fuck up about cishets at Pride.

First: What if a trans kid asks their parents to show their support by attending Pride with them? What if a lesbian can only attend pride if she gets a ride from someone and the only person willing and able to drive her is her straight brother? What if a bi disabled person can't attend a large outdoor event without hands-on assistance from their straight partner? What if someone just wants to bring their fucking friends? What if, contrary to popular tumblr discourse, most queers don't inhabit perfectly pure social bubbles populated only by other queers?

Second and perhaps more important: If you think you can tell that someone is CIS, let alone HET, by LOOKING at them, you are a cop and an idiot.
