The Baba Is You modding community is sort of the exact opposite of every other video gaming modding community in that the troll levels are actually more interesting and accessible than the ones that purport to take the game and its design principles seriously. The "serious" level packs are like "here's a level that expects you to keep track of thirty plus unmodifiable rules and accepts exactly one valid solution which obliges you to carry out a two hundred step procedure to pile six different instructions on top of each other and exploit an obscure text stacking priority mechanic in a way that's deeply counterintuitive but technically base-game legal", while the "troll" level packs are like "let's see how long it takes them to notice that the pause button is an interactable object", and I'm 100% prepared to argue that the latter is more true to the base game's driving ethos than the former.

i love being up early but i love being up late. and i love getting lots of sleep. what now.
Only 13 percent of video games are readily playable and accessible. No other form of media is as endangered as video games. There is no legal path to preserve or archive video games. You can go to libraries and archives for books years out of print. You can rent a movie or download a pdf. There is no legal equivalent for video games. Games companies do not double as archival organisations and they never will. They have never been about preserving. They are about selling. Which is not inherently evil compared to anyone else but they along with the law are directly preventing archivers and preservationists from doing their job and allowing this entire medium to be experienced in the future.
I'm sorry, what post?
I'm going to keep harassing you cause I have lots of train questions:
What's the deal with you and lesbians? As a lesbian I understand completely why, but what really set off the idea of "frick yeah, lesbians and trains"
The Lesbian Sex post started the thing
Ok but can someone explain to me why there is such a division of Israel and Palestine supporters?
Because Germany for example stands with Israel and says Hamas is a terror organization which started the attacks in October, but all I see on Tumblr is 'free Palestine' and 'genocide'.
How come you guys support Hamas? I see that Israel kills civilians as well, but why is your hate for that bigger than for the Hamas' attacks on civilians?
Not siding with anyone yet, just confused and probably not sufficiently informed but like,, if anyone has some information or explanation that makes the situation a little clearer that would be helpful thank you
the way tumblr tags trend is so funny, sometimes it seems like if ONE post gets popular the entire tag trends.
I’m gonna do an experiment. let’s use the tag
uhhhhhh
One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:
It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and
Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.
Hey I'm trans what do I do now?
You must journey through the western gates into the great unknown, past the black ridge, through the mires betwixt towering mountains, past the empty fields of gold that stretch on for miles, unto horizons anew.
