The Beatles leaving their suite at the New York Plaza, February 1964
I love the chaos of this scene. Ringo listening to their song on the radio. John calling Neil ‘Nell’. Paul and George being silly boys until John walks out and Paul’s brain grinds to a halt. Paul trying to finish his bit when his brain eventually comes back to life. Ringo strolling out half an hour after everyone else.
Good times.
Slow-mo gif to appreciate the emotional journey that Paul goes on…

IT'S TIME FOR THE MAKE OVER MONTAGE

Paul McCartney selecting John Lennon’s “Beautiful Boy” as one of his Desert Island Discs for the programme, broadcasted on January 30, 1982.
(Why did I only just realize he’s singing along to the “it’s getting better and better” lyric. Reminiscent of a Beatles song with that title perhaps..? I chose pain today.)
It was the morning that we recorded 'Arrow Through Me'. The night before had been a particularly long one, it was the only time he ever spoke about it, nothing about his relationship, it was just more of a feeling that I had than anything, that he just missed that closeness... just a perception. My God, he misses John - that it was a huge hole in his life.
