what is the story behind your blogs header photo (if you know it)? i love it and it raises so many more questions than it answersđ is that john on the ground with paul ?
ahhhhh it's one of my fave beatle photos!!
i don't know if there's a specific story to this night, it just looked really fun. it's them playing at the top ten club in hamburg. i just adore the energy of it though. the way paul and john are singing and playing to each other and just feeding off each other's delight, and it's so much fun that george and stu are also smiling just watching them. it really captures how infectious their joy for playing is. also just the rare occasion when they're not matching, so they really look like any random band, it's very humanising. paul's dressed like an IT guy! he doesn't even have a guitar at this show (i think his broke at some point in hamburg so he was on piano and drums for the rest of their time there), he's just singing! it's very informal in a way.
the composition is so great too. the presiding impression most people have of beatles shows is girls screaming, so it's really cool seeing a couple dancing and completely ignoring them (while being completely ignored back because the beatles are performing for each other). also, if i remember correctly the guy on the bottom right corner is some hamburg ganster, which is really funny. these children are performing to thugs! and having the best time!
the other pics from this night are delightful as well:
Finally some photos where he is smiling to his son
John and Julian in the 70s
GET BACK, PART III â Ringo doesnât talk much, but when he says heâs not going abroad, they are not going abroad. And when he says âI wanna go on the roofâ, theyâre going on the roof. (x)
We miss you boys
Paul McCartney selecting John Lennonâs âBeautiful Boyâ as one of his Desert Island Discs for the programme, broadcasted on January 30, 1982.
(Why did I only just realize heâs singing along to the âitâs getting better and betterâ lyric. Reminiscent of a Beatles song with that title perhaps..? I chose pain today.)
Guys, guys stop being gay, Ringo is going to get killed because of that ring, guys-
