Just saw the submission abt the comparison between queer ship spaces and straight ship ones. I've also noticed some people aggressively stating that a ship is straight up canon, like not even being like 'oh i like them together'. not to mention that a lot of ppl see that ship as sibling-coded.

This entire thing really is just funny and straight up ridiculous especially if ppl are getting so worked up that their sending death threats 🧐

I can understand not knowing the difference between canon or headcanon if you're knew to the fandom, but since a lot of people have come from other fandoms like... if something is only canon to you then it's a headcanon, and not everyone has to agree with it. Granted, there are a lot of complexities with canon but when it comes to ships, unless the characters are like straight up making out or the devs say they're going to be together, then it's not canon, it's just someone interpreting certain gestures as romantic and believing that everyone has to see that the same way. Although I do find it funny that cishet people will be like "they smiled at each other, they're canonically in love" and then there's situations like Luis pretty much flirting with Leon and they try to find any excuse for why someone can't headcanon them as anything else.
