Writing Tip #137: If you’re having trouble writing about dealing with curses, it’s probably because you’re trying to apply a scientific mindset to something that operates on narrative logic.
Don’t think about whether a given solution or workaround would make sense given the empirically demonstrable “physics” that govern the setting.
Instead, imagine that your story is a game of Dungeons & Dragons.
If your proposed solution or workaround would make that game’s hypothetical GM do this:
… then it works.
