rainy days with abby

the soft pitter patter of dense raindrops hit the window next to your shared bed. the gloom of the thunderstorm’s shadow creating a dark comforting sanctity that threatened to lull you back to sleep. large familiar hands wrapped around your waist, holding you back to her strong chest. the warmth of your bodies under the fluffy blanket felt like nirvana.

abby’s subtle snores blew gentle breaths onto your neck, until she’d awoken from your waking. she’d always been a light sleeper.

her hugging of you tightened until you descended into a long needed stretch, a groan coming from your throat as abby softly giggled and rubbed your arms.

“bigggg stretch,”

you smiled at the phrase she used every time you stretched the sleep out of your tired body. you found yourself back nestled in her arms, her chin on top of your head.

“goodmorning, lovey.”

“ ‘morning pretty lady.”

the swollen-ness of her morning face came into your view from above as she kissed your forehead, gentle fingers sliding underneath your pajama top, tracing small circles on your lower back.

“i can go make you some breakfast?” you offered.

“now you’re talkin’”
