thinking about teen ford's belief that stanley will be fine making his own way in the world
usually that belief is taken as ford's typical shortsightedness when it comes to reading other people. i even agree, tbh! he's 17, of course he underestimates how harsh life without a support network is. he has no frame of reference.
but honestly?
i don't wonder if some of the misconception is that ford is blind to the fact that nobody else sees stan's potential the way he does. including stan himself!
stanley is viciously clever when he applies himself. he's resourceful, determined, witty. he's fully capable of being streetwise and book-smart.
ford knows that! so he trusts that those traits will carry stan. sure, it'll carry him to some seedy places, but when stan has something to fight for, he always comes out on top.
ford knows that.
(but stanley doesn't.)
when I say literary parallels this I what I mean
idk man but something about Stanley "taught himself extremely advance physics/math/probably many other things while running a relatively successful business" Pines and Stanford "is wanted in almost every dimension with a judicial system of some kind" Pines is sooo fucking funny to me
when the artwork is a character and their past/future/alternate selves layered over them like a cracked mirror reblog if you agree
My favorite part of this is op’s tags
every satosugu enjoyer is insane about jjk 0 but what really gets me about it is this panel because not only does it contextualize everything that happened between satosugu in the volume but it's also on the very last page, which i feel changes the thesis of the whole thing. like yes jjk 0 is about yuuta joining jujutsu high and finding his place as a sorcerer, but it's equally about gojo having to face his past (geto) and come to terms with it in order to save his new student
Tough
someone has probably done that already but anyway
I like to think they were friends once upon a time
Jason and Bruce are out late one night in Gotham as civilians. They get cornered by a mugger and Jason nearly pisses himself, he’s so amused. He teases the would-be mugger about their hand placement, even tries to goad the mugger into a fight because he’s Red Hood. He can disarm anyone in seconds. It doesn’t matter if you have a gun — he has two.
He’s Red Hood, and he has the literal Bat of Gotham standing behind him like a wall of muscle. They’re as close to invincible as humans get, in this town. And that kind of confidence scares off their would-be mugger.
But then Jason turns around, a smile stretching across his face, and Bruce is white. Bone white and so so quiet, eyes wide and trained on where the mugger had been standing.
