Characters who have gone through so much but believe, no matter what, that humanity and life is something beautiful and worth protecting

I just got The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic book, and there’s a quote from Ian McCaig I really liked.

The dark side is part of the Force. I just like this because of the idea of some pretentious Sith going “we have embraced all of the Force while you pathetic Jedi sit around with your narrow-minded idea—“ and then there’s this guy saying “well ACTUALLY”

Of course Jayce was able to grit his teeth and shoot Viktor at the commune, even though every fiber of his being was (literally) screaming at him not to—

Of course he rejected Viktor’s invitation in the council room, even though I’m sure he almost rejoiced when Viktor called him his partner again—

Of course he willingly gave up his life, didn’t fight as Viktor took over his mind even if it risked him being ascended and trapped forever as a statue, never able to think or move or breathe, a prisoner of his own body—

—because all of it would ensure, at the end, that Viktor would never have to come back to himself and see that he doomed the world. That his evolution was a massacre. That he’d be alone, indefinitely left to agonize over what he’d done. Because Jayce would never let that happen

I love art that has Viktor is some sort of open back shirt bc it is beautiful and sexy but also bc he would do that

If he had to get dressed up and go to some gala to get passive-aggressively snipped at then you best believe he is wearing that open back

Because it makes his disability visible. It makes it beautiful too, but that would be Viktor saying Look at me. Look at this. Maybe it wouldn’t change anything, but it would make them uncomfortable, and that’s enough of a win, sometimes.

(Also it makes Jayce turn bright red every time)
