Okay. Okay update time on this. Some things. Heads up this is just kind of me rambling/noting down my current thoughts about what I want to do
(Rambles below the thingy)
I've been thinking, and yeah, I really want to do something with that story. That world/story I'm talking about in the og post is.... something! It's the backstory of a silly self-insert-oc of mine, and is not only extremely self-indulgent, but there's probably more missing and contradictory details than there is ACTUAL plot😬
The thing is, however, I hold that batch of characters very dear to me as I've had some of them since, like... late 2021, I'd say? And some of the main story concepts have also been around that long and longer. Because of this, I'm not only DESPERATE to share these guys with the world, but... also too attached to them and their stories to change around the canon a bunch.
What I plan on doing at some point is having two versions of the story that are essentially the same as fandoms making "AU"s. I'll have the revised version with a proper story that I can make into some sort of webcomic or whatever I want, and I'll keep the OG, inconsistent, poorly-written self-insert version as my own personal "AU" that I can have to just be silly with.
My god. I have this one world/story I wanna make a webcomic about so much but the timeline is SO BAD like it's not even funny. Way too many missing details in the worldbuilding and plot holes and contradictory stuff... agrrhgg
This is why I started making flow charts for my plots. It helps me realize everything I messed up. Me consulting my flowchart to make sure my story is coherent
Shaded version! And a couple revamped colours. PS. I really enjoy re-using other parts of the palette to do the shading....
Some more info, too — his name is Palace and he's a detective/investigator type guy running around doing crazy stuff with his wife and new best friend.
Cube guy.... music/band teacher helped figuring out this guy's colours.
I apologize if the whole LIMBS thing is hard to visually understand..
My current goal with my artstyle is to get more cartoony and stylized with my characters...
More about all this below!
For a while I had been strictly staying to attempts at realistic stuff. Not full-on realism, but as good as I could get it.
It was fun, but hard to do, and I was always struggling with some feature. And I never really let myself do cartoony stuff because I had this mindset that if I started doing that, I'd "lose my progress" on all the realistic skill.
Then for art class we had a unit on cartoon characters. It put me out of my comfort zone, but I was actually having WAY more fun with these characters and CONSTANTLY creating these little cartoon designs where I could, like, instantly TELL exactly who they were.
Not to say realism is boring, not at all, just that I think it's important to find which style is, personally, the most enjoyable to draw with. And as someone who is really into expressiveness and character design, I think something more stylized and exaggerated will be a good direction for me. It's already proven to be something I thoroughly enjoy...
you ever do a little design/concept doodle and then you can't shake the feeling that they look incredibly familiar, but you have no idea what from. yeah that's me right now
Ok change of plans he'll look like this now. Just gotta clean up the colours + shapes and such and boom
More character concept
Will probably make the shirt colour more saturated + make the purple darker.
This is part of a group of characters I'm making for a webcomic idea I might make at some point! Though it will require more planning and probably better dedication skills than I currently have.
I don't usually fandompost here but I just binge-readed TPOH these past few days (or what there currently is of it) after hearing about it from some posts I seen
My GOD. Currently going insane. In a good way
Jared's friend has proven difficult to figure out a palette for.
