Just realize that Martyn talked at some point about betraying Ren before the final session of 3rd life.
And now he finally gets his betrayal without Ren there, and it’s to the one person who also asked Martyn to kill him earlier in the series.
Oh we will absolutely be going insane over this for like ever.
had a fascinating english class that resulted in the notes header “the forcefeminization of victor frankenstein”
The Owl House said:
Fuck redeeming a terrible human being for the sake of redeeming them/"it's a kids show of course everyone gets redeemed" trope
Fuck redeeming an abusive parent
Fuck "all magic's gone" trope
These characters worked so hard and went through so much of course they're going to get rewarded
Found family and birth family
Gay rights
I'm going to miss this show so much
So we all kind of agree that “wolf out” is code for being gay, right?
We had that entire conversation with her parents which just screamed queer. Her mother calling her a disappointment, wanting to take her to a conversion camp, Enid saying she hopes they’ll one day accept her for who she is… It wasn’t subtle, folks.
Then we have Enid acting so comphet it’s painful. She has a crush on Ajax despite them never talking - which one could argue happens - but then the same thing happens with the normie boy, who she spends ONE day with and at the end is crying because “she thought he liked her” after like two semi-okay conversations. They are really shallow relationships rooted only in having someone period.
The first sign we get that she’s finally “wolfing out” is when Ajax and Enid are together, when her claws come out. The first time is after the dance when she tries to hold him, and the second time is when they’re kissing in her room. He asks jokingly if she’s gonna wolf out on him, and says they should be okay, but it’s interesting because she says being with him “helps”.
If wolfing out was something that happened because she’s excited to be kissing him, it wouldn’t help, it would only make it worse. Unless she’s wolfing out because she’s rejecting him.
And when does she finally fully wolf out? When she leaves Ajax behind and goes after Wednesday, worried about her and wanting to save her.
So I vote gay. And I’ll die on that hill.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Painful as it was in the beginning, it only feels glorious now
DON'T YOU EVER CALL YOURSELF HALF A WITCH EVER AGAIN 😭
Something I'm obsessed about is.. How some hermits come off in other people's videos vs their own videos
Scar can feel infinitely more threatening in others' videos whilst in his own pov he seems so fun and cheery. One of my favorite example is his audience with Ren. From his POV he comes off as just messing around, not really listening and just doing his own thing because he doesn't really respect Ren, not really
From ren's pov he comes off as terrifying - you watch Ren have his audience and assert his authority with the rest of his court, and then Scar walks in, and he takes complete control of the scene. Where others listened, nodded, and kneeled - Scar strolls to the throne at his side, sits, and smiles condescendingly as Ren demands scar sell his gigapies.
Whereas from Scar's point of view it's one of his endless swindling moments, when he tries to negotiate the whole thing, from ren's pov he just comes off as... So... Terrifying? Its hard to put into words. He won't budge. Faced with a monarch he supposedly swore his fealty for, for whom he's killed and brought the head of resistance members... He continues to stand tall, chin up, and refuse his frivolities.
It's just... So interesting to me.
Similarly, Joel in the life series - particularly last life - almost always comes off as so unhinged, unpredictable and violent. He's scary in a different way than scar, like an rabid dog.
But if you watch Joel's povs he's so soggy and pathetic. Even in last life. Especially in last life. Rather than a rabid dog he's suddenly a shaking chihuahua, barking and growling at everything that comes his way but obviously helpless.
There's many more examples. How aloof grian comes off from other people's point of view is a good one. It's just... Interesting to me.
I myself struggle a lot with understanding the way I come off to other people. Coworkers and friends will describe me in ways that will genuinely surprise me. When watching the hermits/lifers, you can see this phenomenon from both angles, in a way. It's a nice little case study. How someone comes off when you have an intimate knowledge of their intentions and thought processes vs how they come off from an outside perspective.
Didn’t know how to add the video and couldn’t capture with just a screenshot lmao also apologies for the poor quality
a lot of things about this are funny to me:
1. This being his first tweet since December 13th
2. Why is he saying this. Like same but did he feel so strongly about wanting to walk in a snowy pine forest that he simply must tweet about it. Cozy cottagecore tangotek
3. The previous tweet in question is Ladies and Gentlement. Suck It GTWScar
Are you really enjoying what you're writing if you're not acting out an entire sad conversation that you have yet to write, bringing yourself to tears through it?
One thing I love love love love *love* about the Owl House finale is that they gave Luz's titan form such an evil-coded color palette, and design in general.
I mean, think about it. Blacked-out eyes, a black outfit with bone motifs, eyeliner, fangs, and magic that's either the orange-red of fire or the classic black-with-purple-outline meant to show darkness? In any other show that would be some "evil form" of a protagonist, a dark mirror or something, but in the Owl House she gets to be the good guy while *still* looking dark and edgy. And I can't thank the creators enough for that.
Hell, that's kind of tied into the show's themes, right? I know Belos got all disgusting and goopy by the end, but the Emperor's Coven were all about the stereotypical good-guy colors of white and gold. And even Belos's goop form is the dark green and sky blue that matches Earth more than the isles. But the good side is the one that made a deal with the devil to come back from the dead, blasting the self-righteous witch-hunter to bits with void and fire.
This show is so good, guys. It's incredible.
