see i think one of the best things about daniel molloy on the show is that he's clearly kinda uncomfortable with people's feelings. he wants the raw truth, he wants the deep dark stuff, he wants his interview subjects to go where it hurts the most, and he's incredibly good at getting that. and also every time that happens he has no idea how to manage an ounce of sensitivity, or, like, what next. hunting dog going deer in the headlights in real time. you can see the shift from "yay we're getting into the trauma!!" to "oh fuck we're getting into the trauma." character of all time

Armand is canonically perfect at the mind gift. Even Khayman is super impressed by his mastery of the mind gift. In a way that even vampires more ancient than himself are not, he is perfect at blocking his thoughts and reading others’ thoughts. Show!Armand is also repeatedly shown to be extremely powerful but specifically really, really good at the mind gift. Real Rashid was a psychic detective with Talamasca training, you can maybe make an argument that he’d be able to block his thoughts (but from Armand??) or maybe he counted on Armand not really looking/ being lazy, but how was Daniel able to keep secrets from him if Armand’s whole reason for being present in the interview is to make sure Daniel isn’t up to any funny business. I know other people have already said this but I legitimately think about it several times a day.
