it is so not lost on me that serizawa is using the business cards that reigen gave him as his weapon, as the thing to replace his umbrella. that serizawa has always fought with a weapon gifted to him by the person most important to him, the person he is most dedicated to. but now instead of a symbol of codependency and control like the umbrella, he’s using the business cards that symbolize the empowerment, independence, and support he gets from reigen. anyway in this essay I will

I feel like what separates Tim Botsford from other bumbling dad characters is that his bumbling doesn’t bleed into his parenting. Like he can expertly de-escalate an argument between his kids but he also tried to get his wife out of jail by “trading cool stuff” after first putting on his “danger pants” I also really like that “sibling” was one of the few words of the day he already knew, even if he didn’t necessarily know how to give a definition of it. He can be comic relief while also being a very competent dad when he needs to be.

In the same vein I like that even though Sally is more sensible than Tim is some respects, she doesn’t fall into the “mom who basically parents her husband” trope. She’s just as goofy as he is, but her goofiness is something she turns on and off, when she’s having fun with her family/husband it turns on, when she’s in professional settings or when she needs to be more serious for her family, it turns off. 

so basically the Botsfords live up to animated sitcom parent archetypes with the parts of those archetypes that would be detrimental to their children and marriage cut out. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

It's so funny to me like imagine moving to a city like San Francisco or something and all of a sudden God starts talking and no one mentions it

I made a Detective WG OC and decided to post him, hopefully the wordgirl fandom is more active here pfft

Anyways a minor bit of info on him, I like to imagine he was moved from a gritty crime filled town (with more Gotham type villains and the like) to Fair City by his agency, it's just really funny imagining a more serious character being moved to a goofy environment. I also love the Idea of The Narrator being "local" and specific to the area (or the hero) Honestly can you imagine moving to a new city and the first person to greet you is a disembodied voice in the sky? Insane. I'll post more stuff about him later teehee
