Folks, friends, y’all…. esk*mo is a slur. I understand a lot of people don’t know that, I don’t want to be a dick about it, but I’ve been seeing it in fics. Wanna write “esk*mo kisses”? Just say “nuzzled noses” or something.
I’m not here to call anybody out, it’s been in multiple fics, I’m not vague posting. This is just a psa. 👍🏻
OM! Eye HC’s part 3 ft; the (tragically) undatable!
Raphael:
I wanted Raphael to appear stern and war torn. I imagine whilst he used to be a healer (just one with a hobby of combat), post celestial war he’s been forced into the role of a guard or soldier. Though I certainly imagine he prefers healing others over combat. I wanted him to look slightly tired. I personally HC Raphael can’t sleep naturally, he was intended to be a guardian so he’s inherently restless and forced to constantly watch, especially since he’s a Virtue of Diligence. So instead, when the brothers were in the Celestial Realm, Belphagor would use his magic to put Raphael to sleep and give him a break, which is how he developed his bond with the twins. However since Belphie fell, Raphael is now entirely sleepless, as such his eyes look more unfocused and almost glazed over due to exhaustion.
Mephistopheles:
Okay so, Mephisto is one of my favs so I have a lot to say about him. First the basics, I wanted him to come across posh and snobby, so I made it so he doesn’t meet the viewers gaze. I imagine he only makes eye contact and gives his full focus to those he deems worthy (Like Dia and Barb). Now as for the coloured Sclera and glowing eyes. I imagine Mephie isn’t actually of the Devildom, but rather the “Crossroads” the land in between the three realms. (Not to be confused with Thirteen who comes from OUTSIDE the three realms). Mephisto being from this twisted in-between land his demon form is actually a shapeshifting green mist. Much like the devil, Mephistopheles (the actual demon not in OM!) is described as looking almost entirely human save for few fatal flaws in his disguise. I imagine for Mephisto it’s the same, him struggling to maintain a full human form, due to this having a malformed ankle and limp and when he’s not trying to trick humans he allows his eyes to drop the disguise as to lessen the magic toll on his stamina.
Thirteen:
Note I use She/They Pronouns for Thirteen so keep that in mind. I imagine Thirteen is sort of a reptile human. Due to this they can see in the dark, can keep their eyes open underwater without issue, and has great heat sensing capabilities. (I also imagine she has a slit tongue and sharp teeth but that isn’t eye related so-). I picture she has very big eyes with long wispy lashes. I imagine they could easily win a staring comp against anyone (save for Levi and Barb). Also I picture her with a lot of piercings and tattoos, I just imagine she loves decorating her skin and body, being obsessed with body mods of all varieties. Currently her only facial tattoo is a small heart under her eye but she LONGS to get more.
I've had a thought about the devildom. ☝🏼🤓
In my country, there’s this book, and I don’t know if it ever made it abroad, but it’s called “The Devil’s Apprentice.” It’s about this kid Filip who dies and then goes to hell, where he finds out that The Devil, Lucifer, is dying, and he wants Filip to become ruler of Hell after him. A bunch of stuff happens; there’s like six or seven books. Lilith is also a really big part of the series. I read them all when I was like 12.
Now, in this book, there are basically different types of devils/demons who all have different types of jobs.
The first type is the one who tempts humans. They’re all really hot because they’re supposed to be able to seduce humans into doing evil deeds, ya know. So if we’re putting this on Obey Me, I think the brothers, Diavolo, Barbatos, Mephistoles, etc. would all be this type, right? They can also shapeshift into whatever they think will be most irresistible for said human, so say the human they’re trying to corrupt is really into a certain physical trait, bam, they have that trait.
So now I’m officially imagining that the generic MC is just really into washboard abs, and that’s why all of the brothers are super ripped. It’s just because generic MC thinks it’s super hot and we’re seeing it through their eyes.
I don’t remember all that much about the other types in the book, but there’s this one type who are the "punishers." Their jobs are basically to torment the humans in hell, and because of that, they’re really scary-looking. They often have green skin and long snake-like tongues, they’re gigantic and use whips to punish people, but they’re all very reasonable fellas with families n shit, even though they’re so scary-looking. Tormenting humans is just their nine-to-five.
So imagine you’re in the Devildom and you’ve only been introduced to the hot demons, and then all of a sudden you see this gigantic fucking monster who definitely looks like he wants to eat you. You ask Mammon what the fuck that is, and he just waves at the guy and goes, “Oh, that’s just Larry.” And then you have to stop on the street for like 10 minutes so Mammon can catch up with him, until Larry reminds Mammon that he still owes him that Grimm he borrowed on gambling night 46 years ago, and all of a sudden Mammon is very busy, and, oh, look at the time, we gotta go.
The third type of demon I remember is this kind that lives in the shadows and feeds on people’s souls. They’re so evil that even other demons avoid them. Imagine one day you’re out with one of the boys, and you take a shortcut through an alley, and it suddenly gets really dark and cold (and this is the devildom so it gets REALLY dark and cold), and you’re just thinking, “What?” until whoever you’re with just grabs you and says, “We've gotta leave.”
It’s not until you’re several blocks away that he’ll tell you what just happened, and he basically just explains that if you’re ever somewhere and it gets really dark and cold all of a sudden, then you just run. Don’t let them eat your soul.
Like, thanks, I’m gonna have nightmares about that now.
Another thing I remember about the series is that in the second book, the whole plot is that there are these really old demons who are so old that they can barely do anything, and they just want to stop living honestly, but they’re immortal, so they can’t.
Do you think that those kinds of demons exist in the Devildom as well? We know that Barbatos is fucking old and he’s doing pretty well, but there are also demons like Dia’s dad who just want to be left alone. Surely there must be a bunch of demons who have been around for as long as Barbs and the Demon King, who are just tired of living? It has to get boring at some point, right?
Imagine in the Devildom there’s a nursing home for all of the old demons who just do not care anymore, and all they do is play cards and hang out. They’re so wrinkly, they look like corpses, but don’t go too close because they still have a liking for human meat, and they can be quite fast when they want to.
Obviously, it's not exactly the same, because in the book they're quite literally in Hell, and the Devildom is more of its own entity and isn't really tied to any religion, but it could be cool if we learned more about different types of demons.
No, come back here, gimmie your thoughts about price coming home, sweat soaking through his clothes. Reeking, needing a shower.
But you just won't let him. Clinging onto him before he washes it all away.
“Bloody hell love, what’s gotten into you?” John snorts as he watches the way you shove yourself deeper under his arm, nose pressed firmly against his armpit and he raises a brow at the whine that leaves your throat. You had ambushed him on his way to the shower, blocking the doorway as you rut against him like a bitch in heat
“Shmellsh goodsh..” John can’t tell if your voice is muffled or slurred, or a combination of both, and he swallows when he feels the slick heat of your cunt against his thigh.
“Jesus pretty, at least let me-“
“No! No you can’t!” You beg, breath catching as you hump yourself against his leg, dragging your tongue over his collar bone, collecting the sweat that had pooled there.
“Fuck you’re a nasty fuckin girl.”

cannibalism in romance novels
Cannibalism is like a parallax. For once it exists as a ‘philia’, characterized by the desire of eating another. And we find that it exists in the opposite spectrum, in the form of a ‘phobia’, which speaks of the fear of being eaten or partaking unknowingly or forcefully in the act of eating another. To vore is adjacent to love in most cases, both feared and desired. Because to love someone is (apparently) to want to consume them.
Though cannibalism might seem like a barbaric and horrific concept, it is said to be one of the most intense demostrations of love that exist in both classic and contemporary literature. The gruesome gesture reminds the lecturer of the intensity of love and its lunacy. As Mercedes Abad stated in spanish newsletter ‘el tiempo’ on May 21st, 1995 ‘There is no doubt that love and sex are feasts where, to a greater or lesser extent, we all become anthropophagi who would surely find it quite difficult to answer the question of whether there is greater pleasure in phagocytosing the other or in being phagocytosed.’ Because Cannibalism as a metaphor for love in romance novels, as it is in our day to day, is more about the blind consumerism of it rather than the pureness of it. One example of blind consumerism of love would be in Salvador Dali's Autobiography, where it is mentioned how Gala cooked their pet rabbit because of how much they loved it, in front of the woman’s refusal to the idea of leaving the rabbit with the maids.
To love is to consume, but to consume is to devour and transform in reusable energy. Like a vampire would when consuming someone’s blood, so they can continue living at the other’s cause. You live off the love you take, but if you devour that love, the other cannot live. The truth is cannibalism has a double connotation, and consuming the other’s otherness is three dimensional. Which means it isn’t always about love, or the lack thereof, but more so about the act of possessing. Cannibalism isn’t only one of the greatest manifestations of tenderness (for many), but also the irrevocably selfishness of an individual blinded by desire - in front of the morbid contemplation of the lover giving themselves so the other can survive -. The amorous-sexual instincts that resurface from a deep sense of infatuation together with those of hunger - a basic instinct - that create an irrational longing, unite in cannibalism as an analogy for that which we wish to become one with. It leaves you to question if the love narrated is but an act of survival for starved people.
‘Love is only a prologue to two cannibals struggling to take a bite of each other.’ - La Oscuridad, Ignacio Ferrando Perez (2014.) Cannibalism is, then, the imposture of love, and the obscure craving of something bigger than yourself without any understanding of it.
I headcanon that, at least in antiquity or part of tradition, Alphas would court Omegas by building houses.
Like sure, the whole scenting thing is still a major part of the process, but the core of that is providing Omegas with a safe place to stay and nest. And from there, that’s all derived from the idea of protecting, providing, and building a family.
So yes, in modern times, it makes sense that much of courting is predicated on the ability to make money. But I’d also say that in more isolated areas and in older times, literally putting a house together—whether alone as an alpha or with the help of a pack—would be one of the primary ways to prove one’s self worth. Laying brick, lugging lumber. Sawing wood, building steps. But also creating only the shell of the house and basic furniture—then leaving it to the Omega to fill with softer things like pillows and trinkets. The house essentially becomes the domain of a mated pair; the Alpha lays the foundations down so the Omega has freedom to make it a home.
(And by extension, if the pack participates in helping create such a home, it’s like a welcoming gift to their future “in-law.” Telling the Omega that they, too, are family.)

mutt ➝ a term for a trans man ( / transsexual man / transmasc / trans guy / etc ) who feels outcast from general society*, looked down upon, or pitied because of their transness, as would a stray mutt. though based on trans struggles, this label is meant to be used in a positive way, celebrating perseverance and strength through dark times.
( *see monachoric by @rabidbatboy. this is loosely based off of the 2023 film mutt. while similar to terms like butch, bear, and otter, mutt has no visual or presentation aspects. )
