whenever I see ‘people get upset because jttw got adapted not accurately’ I find it absurd like it’s never been faithfully adapted ever even by Chinese people also the book itself is a huge fan fiction of what Xuan Zang actually did it weakens his character so much and it mocks and criticizes corruption in Buddhist communities in China to the point that when shooting the tv series some Buddhist temples refused to collaborate
