Reblog if you are also not a straight people.
We were walking around in the exhibit. I found something related to my sixth great-grandmothers. But what truly catched my attention was an illustration with a touchscreen and some headphones below it.
"Tori?" I searched for her, but she's already in front of said screen. She looks fond of the illustration.
"Oh. Sorry for not noticing you, darling. I was.. distracted," she said, smiling guiltily. I examined the illustration. There were two men in typical 19th century clothing pulling each other to an embrace, although I couldn't determine which decade. Definitely made pretty recently, as the art style is very anime-ish, and I doubt 19th century artists ever knew about such things.
On the screen, there was only a play button. Tori and I wore the headphones and she pressed play. Classical music begins to play. I glanced at Tori. She looked like she was reminiscing about something.
"Aloisia, have I ever told you about the story behind this piece?"
"No, what is it?"
She sighed. "Well, the composer of this piece is my favourite composer. The meaning of his first name is connected to victory, just like me. And his lover, whom he dedicated this piece to.. well, his first and middle name is a variant of Louis and William, and your first and middle name.." I saw tears form on her eyes. "Aloisia Wilhelmina, is also another variant of those names too.."
"So you were thinking about us?"
"Yes."
I looked at her in the eye, and she understood what I wanted to say.
"You're allowed to."
We moved closer to each other and had our first kiss.
After visiting other exhibits, we returned to our own homes in the evening. I carefully put my shoes under the bed, but my hand hit something unfamiliar.
Anxiously, I tried to feel it. It feels like a knob. I decided to pull the knob upwards. It opened a small, discreet storage. There seems to be some papers inside. I randomly took one out, and it was a charcoal sketch of a man.
Under the man's sketch, there is his handwriting: Alois Vilhelm, self portrait, 1819, and on the other side of the paper, there is another handwriting that looked different to his: My Beloved, My Dearest Alois.
I guess I already knew who's this Alois my family members are named after. Just needed some little research about his connection with the family.
And definitely not now, because I'm already tired.
Hi again! So uh.. I'm trying out a new artstyle.. also, meet my boi Keenan!
(the flag on top of the trans flag is supposed to be the demiboy flag btw)
Asra Alnazar is not the asshole!
WIBTA if I messed up the count's ritual on purpose so I could bring my partner back to life?
I (20sX) am a mage hired by the count (30s-40sM) who rules over my region to help find a cure for a plague that has been dooming all of us for quite a while.
There have been many victims of the plague, including my (soon no longer) deceased partner, and the count himself. As he grows more desperate, he asked me to perform a ritual involving the major arcana (like, the actual figures represented by the cards) which would transfer his soul and conscience to The Fool's body.
However, I have a better idea. What if I used the ritual to resurrect my partner instead? I mean, it's a selfish thing to do, but to do it for the count would be equally selfish thing on his side, and besides, he was the one who brought the plague here and no one actually liked his snobby, selfish ass, so.. would I really be the asshole if I were to bring my partner back to life by messing with the ritual and let that count die?
Early 19th century lady :3
Hello, my dear followers B)
Some time ago, I said that Cosette's birthday was on 18th February, and that it was a reference to a historical fact, right?
Well, in case you wanted to know, then search for 18th February 1784 on google (that date's definitely not someone's false birthdate aha). You might found someone's portrait 😳 (definitely not someone familiar to all of you aha)
Guys.
Y’all.
I…
I just. I just… i have discovered something. And I have laughed too much. I have laughed every time I have tried to explain it to someone. I cannot get through this.
Look. Okay.
There are two things you need to know, here.
First: There’s a style of Greek pottery that was popular during the Hellenic period, for which most of the surviving examples are from southern Italy. We call them ‘fish plates’ because, well, they’re plates, and they’re decorated with fish (and other marine life).
Like this one, currently in the Met:
Or this one, currently in the Cleveland Museum of Art:
They’re very cool. We’re not 100% sure what they were for, because most of the surviving ones were found as grave goods, but that’s a different post.
The second thing you need to know is that when we (Classics/archaeology/whatever as a discipline) have a collection of artefacts, like vases, sculptures, paintings, etc. and we do not know the name of the artist, but we’re pretty sure one artist made X, Y and Z artefacts, we come up with a name for that artist. There are a whole bunch of things that could be the source for the name, e.g. where we found most of their work (The Dipylon Master) or the potter with whom they worked (the Amasis Painter), a favourite theme (The Athena Painter), the Museum that ended up with the most famous thing they did (The Berlin Painter) or a notable aspect of their style. Like, say, The Eyebrow Painter.
Guess what kind of pottery the Eyebrow Painter made?
You guys saw nothing aha <3

Remember someone named Antoine Beaumont that I mentioned in Aurelie's bio? Well.. I drew him.
If there's no disclaimer about whose POV the story is, then it's Aloisia's.
