a/n: This was a specific request by @kirasousuke Thank you for trusting me on this! I hope it was somewhat to your satisfaction.
Till death do us part.
Those unspoken vows echoed through your grieving soul, a bond and a commitment to a man who was now regarded as a traitor. Although those words were never uttered, the red string of fate is what kept you anchored to this relationship.Â
You looked ill, your body stiff like a block of ice and vigorless. You sat at the dining table, and arrancar servants were serving you the evening dinner. The coming and going of the Arrancars, as they piled food onto the table, was nothing more than a blur in the background. Your eyes were locked onto the empty seat in front of you. That empty seat belonged to your husbandâ the man who you barely saw since your arrival. The man who you barely left before your departure.Â
It felt like only yesterday when you were writing poetry in his Captainâs quarters, reading aloud as he quietly listened to each carefully chosen word. Your soft voice calmed his racing thoughts.Â
You do not blame him for the decisions he made. The betrayal was already written in his books. However, he only chose to share his plans at the right momentâ the day before the departure. It did not give you enough time to prepare; physically, mentally and emotionally. And so, you were left with a deep wound in your heartâand the only way your body knew to heal it was to freeze it over with a thin layer of ice.
You heard footsteps from behind you, recognizing them instantly. Actually, no. They did not sound like your husband's footsteps. At least not the version you fell in love with in the Soul Society.Â
His footsteps held more authority. Each strike of his heel sent ripples of fear through the Arrancar servants, who hastily stepped aside to allow his entrance.
âLord Aizenâ, you heard the weak voices shaking with fear. Why did they fear your dear beloved husband? Oh yes. He was not the same sweet innocent Captain of the fifth squad anymore. He instilled fear among his creations and demanded respect like never before.Â
You watch him take a seat across from you. You could hear some whispers and gossip stir amongst the idling arrancars.
âShe dare not stand up and greet Lord Aizen!â
âEven if she is the wife, respect is still demanded!â
âShe thinks all high and mighty of herselfâ.Â
Aizen paid no attention to the brewing whispers as it was all beneath him. But underneath all that facade, it fed his pride.
And as a supportive wife, you were proud of the man he had become. Unfortunately, you lost the man you once knew in the process.
He gave the arrancars a quick side glance. The chatter disappeared as they all cleared the room but their haunting whispers remained inside your head.
âNot hungry?â, he asked, noticing you did not touch the food that was so generously offered.
You weakly nod your head. This was your first dinner together in Hueco Mundo, so you could have shown more enthusiasm but you had no energy and no appetite.Â
âNeither am Iâ. He leaned back, grabbing his cup of tea and giving it a gentle sip. Now that was a familiar sound that wrapped around you like a memory, steeped in nostalgia. Sadly, that warm feeling didnât linger long enough to melt the growing sheet of ice slowly enveloping you in despair.
He was interrupted by the piercing voice of a small female arrancar. She had made her entrance and offered a deep bow.Â
It annoyed Aizen to have this rare, peaceful moment with his wife interrupted, though he was the one who had made the summons.
You looked down at the petite and fragile-looking arrancar. Looks can be deceiving and you know better than to judge someone's status based on their appearance. You are suddenly reminded of Captain Hitsugaya, who looked like a young child yet he had so much wisdom to offer regarding your ice Zanpakuto.Â
You felt the heavy burden of memories wash over you as you sat in silence, reminiscing with a heavy heart. Though you wore a stoic facade with practiced ease, it did little to fool your beloved.
âYouâve seemed lonely since our arrival,â he observed, his eyes drifting toward the small Arrancars. âLoneliness can be either a blessingâ, his gaze lingered, âor a curse. I can tell that youâre not faring well. Perhaps what you need is company.â
Was it truly loneliness?
Did he not see that you yearned for your dear friends and family that you left behind in the Soul Society? Did he truly believe that what you felt was loneliness and that anyone could easily replace those precious bonds that were shattered as soon as the sky split open?Â
âI can't be entertaining you as often. Time is slipping away. But I have gathered a few who will be of some use to youâ.Â
The girl, Loly, remained kneeling, not daring to lift her head in his presence. Even Aizen could sense the hesitationâthe barely concealed hostilityâradiating from Loly. And yet, he was confident that no one would dare hurt his wife. Unfortunately, he underestimated the jealous storm that raged amongst his female army.Â
âââ
âStuck babysitting his whoreâ, Loly mumbled under her breath while walking down the maze-like hallways of the grand fortress.
You followed your husbandâs adviceâdespite your better judgmentâand decided to walk with the younger Arrancar. âShow my wife around,â was his suggestion. Loly didnât protest at the time, but it was obvious she loathed you.
âHurry the hell up! I can't hold your hand. If you get lost, it's on you whose room you end up inâ, she yelled while you lagged behind, taking cautious footsteps. You kept your distance, leaving enough space in case you had to react to an unexpected attack. You were guarded, but nothing could have prepared you for what she had schemed.
Loly had suddenly come up with a diabolical plan. It was hard for her to contain her excitement or suppress the grin tugging at her lips. From your position behind her, all you could see was her tiny figure, playfully skipping through the eerie, shadowy hallways. Suddenly, she took a sharp turn and disappeared.
The wide corridor was dimly lit by candles, your flickering shadows dancing against the walls. Silence took overâ just the sound of your racing heartbeat and soft shuffling footsteps. Unexpected danger lay ahead. Your instincts had given you plenty of warnings from the start, yet you proceeded without hesitation.
You place a firm hand on the hilt of your Zanpakuto and press forward. The farther you walked down the empty corridor, the darker it became. A heaviness settled over you, pressing against your body. It worsened with every stepâthe air thickened, slowing you down. An evil presence churned your stomach.
What made it more revolting was knowing these were all Aizenâs creations.
What you failed to realize was that you were walking directly into the heart of a den where several of the Espada lay in wait. You hadnât yet made their acquaintance, but you were about to.
You heard a whisper and a giggle. It was Loly. She was taunting you, hiding amongst the shadows, her smaller body easy to conceal.Â
You could blindly swing your weapon around but that would do you no good. That was what Loly was counting on. Unfortunately for her, you were more level-headed than she had anticipated.Â
So she turned it up a notch and released a bala directly at your face. âMess that pretty little face of yoursâ, she said out loud with a tiny giggle.Â
You were quick to dodge her attack. She tried again. Predictability was your defence. Her actions were nothing more than a spoiled child throwing a tantrum and tossing balls at you.Â
After several attempts, the attacks had stopped. Shattered glass and collapsed walls left a thin layer of smoky haze and the rising dust further obstructed your view.Â
The silence took over again. There was not a stir of movement. However, from deep within, danger had gathered. Through the murky fog, you suddenly noticed several pairs of eyes. Blue, gold, green, etc
The spiritual pressure was rising and you knew these spectators were of a different level. You embraced danger with open arms, ready to strike, your pride as a fighter was instilled to your core. You once belonged to Squad 11 and you had that inherent desire to seek out danger.Â
Before the situation could turn ugly, a long blade intervened, plunging through the air like a pole to separate you from the chaos hidden behind the cloud of dust.
The owner of the Zanpaktuo slowly stepped forward, his weapon slowly retracting as he got closer to you.Â
âQuite the party here. Pity I wasn't invitedâ, Gin revealed himself with a smirk you did not trust.
âI was walking the hallways and came acrossâŚâ, you looked back at the shadows but they had all disappeared as soon as Gin showed up.
âThere is nothing here. I think you are just bored. If you needed some company, all you had to do was askâ. He took a few more steps towards you but stopped, realizing your hand was still resting on the hilt of your Zanpakuto.Â
He knew better than to trigger your icy rage. Especially when he was trying to gain some Aizen points.
ââ
You had made your escape. And that particular day was never mentioned again. You were surprised that his second in command, Gin, did not rat you or Loly out. Actually, you weren't surprised at all. That snake had an agenda and you had already become his pawn.Â
Despite her actions, Loly continued to serve Aizen, putting on an innocent demeanour that honestly fooled no one.Â
You did not tell Aizen what had happened that day. You felt like you would be tattling on her. It was childish and you would be stooping to her level. You did not want to win favours. But you also did not want to make enemies in a den of lions.
You kept your emotions suppressed, the sadness and anger were collecting deep inside you, and ice slowly numbed the emotional pain. Unbeknownst to you, a sheet of ice was slowly settling around your organs and starting to cause actual physical damage.Â
Loly continued to torment youâ mentally, emotionally and physically. She would be sneaky about it, sly enough to slip under Aizenâs radar.Â
Aizen was too hyper-focused and fixated on his lifelong dream. You did not want to be a burden. Your petty problems did not belong in his grand scheme of things.Â
You became homesick and isolated. You felt useless when he would include his army of arrancars in his plans while you were asked to simply sit and watch. Look beautiful for him, and donât get your hands dirty. You were his wifeâleave the messy work to everyone else.
It made you sick. You were growing sicker every day. You didn't have a fever. Quite the opposite. Your core temperature was dropping. You shivered and wrapped yourself in warm blankets while taking shelter in his bed chambers. Little by little, your body was becoming an ice statue from the inside out. Sorrow and grief had taken hold of your heart. Your zanpakuto was reacting to your emotions and assumed you were under attack. The ice was an unconscious attempt to protect your body. However, it was making it all worse.
The longer you sat in silence, immersed in your misery and grief, the more you were reminded of the dear friends you had left behind. The image of Captain Unohanaâs face as she watched you ascend into the sky, hand in hand with the traitorâyour husband, Aizenâhaunted you. You never let it show, but in the stillness of night, far from cold, judgmental stares, you wept. Leaving Unohana and your friends, shattered your heart. But leaving him would have completely destroyed you.
You lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as tears traced down your cheeks. Even those tears, cold to the touch, brought no comfort. You had become lost in your delusion. Though no one was there, you spoke to her, feeling Captain Unohanaâs gentle hand rest upon your frost-kissed forehead, checking your temperature, her touch offering a momentary balm to your pain.
âCaptain Unohana? I feel coldâ, you whispered to your inner illusions as they danced around you.
She didn't say a word. Her gentle expression and nurturing smile suddenly faded. Her eyebrows lowered and her forehead furrowed. She clenched her jaw and gave you an icy glare, stealing away that warmth she once brought. A chill ran down your spine and you visibly began to shiver. Your internal grief and despair began to take on a physical form.
And there you lay, on the block of ice, as your friends surround you, watching you meet your demise.Â
A slow but numbing end.
You heard the door open, but you couldnât turn your head. Your neck was stiff and you felt completely lethargic. Your friends still stared down at you, their piercing glares like needles driving into your numb flesh.
The footsteps drew closer with each passing second, each one feeling like the passing of a day. In your frigid state, time itself had slowed. It felt like an eternity before your visitor reached your bedside, dissolving all the illusions and replacing them with a face you most dread.
Lolyâs grin had taken over, her giggles like piercing laughter that was about to shatter the icy glass that enveloped you whole. Your will to fight was also taken down, and all you are now is an empty shell of your former self.
You had to admit itâ some of that coldness in your heart was because of jealousy. You were envious of the arrancars and how much Aizen relied on them while you were left to freeze in your despair and loneliness.Â
If you were to die today, whether a natural death or at the hands of this brat, maybe he could turn you into a useful arrancar? Was that possible? For Aizen, nothing is impossible.Â
But did you want to live that life? At least in your current, pathetic condition, you did not have to fight your former friends and family.Â
Loly continued with her barrage of verbal insults. At some point, you had tuned her outâ her little figure popping up from different angles, spitting incoherent insult after insult until they blurred into mumbles. Your vision grew blurry and her small figure began to multiply around youâ first doubling, then tripling, until eventually it was all you could see.Â
The obnoxious brat extended her arms, daggers in her many hands, their tips glistening with venom.
âJust a small slit across your throat would do the trickâ, she mused, almost sweetly. It would be enough to end your misery â the cold, suffocating coffin you were already being buried within.
You closed your heavy eyelids, knowing they would be frozen shut forever. You brace for the sharp, wet tip of her dagger to pierce through your skin. But what you got instead was a ray of heat penetrating deep through your heart, gradually cracking the surface of the ice that had taken hold of your soul.Â
Your body felt warm and light, the heaviness slowly melting away from within. You opened your eyes, wondering if you had reached the next phase of your feeble life.Â
As your eyelids fluttered open, you met his protective, concerned gaze. His rich brown eyes pulled you from the depths of despair, and you suddenly found the will to fight.Â
You stood at deathâs doorstep, and once again, he came to your rescue.Â
âMy beloved, why have you abandoned your will to live?â he asked with a soothing voice, genuine confusion on his face.
He gave you everything. Anything you wanted, it was yours. So why were you so ungrateful? That was the meaning you saw behind his words.
You felt ashamed of your weak resolve. How dare you decide to leave the one who risked his plans to bring you to Hueco Mundo.Â
It was his deepest desire to have you at his side as he ascended the throne and finally fulfilled his lifelong dream.
He didnât just want you there â he needed you.
He needed you to cheer him on, to ground him when necessary, to offer comfort at the most crucial moments â and, above all, to witness his triumph.
You werenât just there to witness his greatness. You were part of his plan.Â
âIâm sorryâ. The words came out effortlesslyâ no longer were you stuck in your icy despair.Â
âOnly the weak apologizeâ, he reminded you while gently brushing your hair out of your face. His other hand was resting on your chest, the warmth radiating out from his hand was indescribable.Â
âOh. Iâm sor-â, you cut yourself from repeating the same mistake. That earned you a smile on his perfect face. A genuine smile that was stripped of all illusions. A real smile only you have been blessed and will cherish forever.Â
There was a moment of silenceâ his warm presence comforted you.Â
âNowâŚwill you accompany me to the gates?â He was talking about the garganta that was about to open. The next phase of his plan was already in motion.
âI won't be coming with you?â you asked, disappointment heavy in your voice.
âNot today. I need someone to hold down the fort while I am gone.â
âYou know the arrancars won't listen to me. They don't respect meâ, you explained your hesitation.
âRespect is earned, my dear. Ain't I a perfect example of that?â He paused for a second, leaning forward to plant a tender kiss on your thawing forehead. âBut I wouldn't mind if you used the âLord Aizen is my husbandâ card. You have the power to bring them to your knees with that aloneâ.Â
You let out a soft chuckle and slowly sit up. His arms held you close to his chest. The last sliver of ice finally surrendered to the warmth of his body. Not even your icy Zanpakuto could stand a chance against Sosuke Aizen.Â
Time was ticking, and neither of you wanted to break away from the embrace.Â
You had to be the brave one and let him go. Your selfishness would serve no purpose in the greater cause.
âNow you don't want your enemies to be waiting on you. Go. Be careful. And come back to meâŚ.Sosuke. Come back to me just as you leftâ.Â
Unfortunately, that was a promise he could not fulfill.Â

Grimmjow and the Cookie Thief pt 1 (~5.2k words)
Youâd been able to see things no one else could since you could remember. After moving to Karakura Town to begin University classes, that skill had gone from fleeting glimpses to a full-blown ability to see the unseen. Thatâs why, when your upper floor dorm room was rendered uninhabitable by Kurosakiâs fight with a nasty hollow, Kisuke Urahara had been very quick to offer you a part-time job and temporary lodging when it was obvious that a standard Shinigami memory replacement device was not going to work on you. Needless to say, it was proving to be an interesting semester.
âDonât even think about it, Grimmjow!â Ichigo said, yanking the bag in his hand out of Grimmjowâs reach and shoving the rest of the cookie he was holding into his mouth. âInooeh made âese âer me!â
You snickered as Grimmjow lunged for the small paper bag in Ichigoâs hand and an impromptu game of âkeep-awayâ broke out. You unrolled the top of a similar looking paper bag and inhaled deeply, your eyes rolling back a little as the smell of freshly baked cookies- ordinary double chocolate chunk you were relieved to see- filled your nostrils. You delicately picked one out of the bag as you watched the two men running around Urahara ShĹtenâs large subterranean training ground like idiots. Your eyes were glued to their shirtless forms as you took a bite of the cookie, half moaning at the taste. âSeems like someone is really enjoying their lunch break,â Your bossâs knowing voice came from over your left shoulder, making you jump. You could hear the smirk in his obnoxiously cheery voice which was made more obnoxious by the way he was now chuckling at you from behind his fan. âPerhaps I should start charging admission.â
âIs that really necessary, Urahara-san? You coulda made me choke, sneaking up on me like that,â you grumbled before taking a drink of water to wash down the bits of cookie trying to stick to your back teeth. You turned your attention back to the blue-haired former Espada. You watched as Grimmjow tackled Ichigo, who had deftly grabbed his last cookie from the bag a split second before Grimmjow shredded it into paper confetti. You took another bite of your cookie, unable to stop the little hum of appreciation and the following sigh of contentment. âWas that in response to the cookie or the Arrancar? Iâm guessing the latter could probably get a stronger response,â Urahara murmured from just behind your ear before giggling and side stepping the elbow you threw at him before it could connect with its intended target. You glared at him over your shoulder, shoving the rest of the cookie into your mouth. He just smiled at you from behind his fan with saccharin sweetness⌠from a safe distance.
âYeah, well I didnât really want any of that cookie anyway. The stuff that woman of yours cooks always smells funny,â Grimmjow huffed. You turned back around to see the two men, sweaty and dusty, walking back in your direction. âHey, watch it, Grimmjow!â Ichigo said sharply. âSay whatever the hell you want about me, but donât run your mouth about Inoue or Iâll beat your ass again.â âTch! When dâya ever âbeat my assâ?â Grimmjow shot back, then mumbled, âThat one time doesnât count. That bastard Nnoitra decided butt in.â Ichigo just looked at him, brow arched. You pulled the remaining cookie from your bag as they walked up. Grimmjow was giving the treat in your hand the side eye while very much pretending not to as he leaned down a few feet in front of you to pick up his jacket. You took another drink of water, contemplating breaking the cookie in half and offering some to Grimmjow when that damnable shopkeeper spoke up again. âAh~! Looks like someone is interested _______-san!â You just rolled your eyes as you swished the water around in your mouth. âIf youâd like to eat _______-sanâs cookie, Iâm sure she would be happy to let you if you ask her nicely, Grimmjow-san!â Urahara called in a too innocent sing-song manner. Your eyes went wide and you clapped your hand over your mouth as you spluttered and coughed, struggling to swallow the rest of the water in your mouth without drowning yourself. Your eyes darted over to Ichigo and Grimmjow. Kurosaki was pulling his shirt on, his face bright red as he tried to look anywhere but at you or the Arrancar. Grimmjow, on the other hand, was now openly staring at the cookie in your hand. You could feel the heat radiating from your cheeks all the way up to the tips of your ears.
âWelp! Lunch break is over!â you announced, a little to loudly, while leaping to your feet and shoving the entire cookie into your mouth and ignoring Grimmjowâs startled âWhat the fuck?!.â You turned and sprinted for the ladder leading up to the shop, then began to climb like you were being chased by a serial killer. You were about halfway to the top when Grimmjowâs voice floated up to your ears. âFuckinâ pervert!â This was followed by a very satisfying shriek from your boss.
The sun was just setting when you put the last of the dishes away. It was your night to clean up after supper, much to everyone elseâs delight. Kurosaki and Grimmjow had been trying to beat the crap out of each other down in the underground training area for the better part of the evening, but after the incident from a couple of days ago, you steadfastly refused to go watch them no matter how much your boss tried to talk you into it. You dried your hands, then grabbed your water bottle and the little paper sack off the counter and headed to your room. This time, you were going to enjoy the cookies Inoue-san sent for you in peace and quiet.
At least you thought you were. You hadnât been up there five minutes and there was a very loud knock at the door. You furrowed your brow, scowling at the door as you finished pulling on the little shorts you always slept in. âJust a second!â you hollered, pulling your tee shirt back on as a second volley of impatient knocking rattled your door. Clothing in place, you stomped over to the door and slid it open. âLook, Urahara-tencho, Iâve finished everything, so whatever this is about, it can wait until tomoâ Oh!â You interrupted yourself with a surprised yelp as six feet of blue-haired Arrancar muscled his way past you and into your room without preamble or invitation. For a moment, all you could do was stare at him, mouth ajar as he stood there, examining your space with interest. His eyes landed on the little bag with the familiar bakery logo and he quickly looked away, shuffling his feet and turning those intense blue eyes on you. âGr- Grimmjow! Umm⌠I, ah⌠Is there something I can, uh, help you with?â you finally managed, your hand still on the open door. âYou werenât there today. Why?â he demanded. Your eyebrows rose in response to his terse question. Heâd actually notice your absence? A few little butterflies took wing inside your stomach at the thought, but you firmly ignored them. âI- I had extra things to do today,â you lied, smiling weakly. You could tell by the look on Grimmjowâs face that he wasnât buying it. âI mean, I have school and today was my day to wash dishes and clean the kitchen and there was stock andââ Your babbling was cut off by Grimmjowâs towering presence looming over you as he slid the door shut with a clack. You blinked, and your breath caught in your throat at his sudden nearness. You were alone in a room with a being that could end you in less than two seconds and all you could think about was the way he smelledâ the scent of his styling products plus something nice that you couldnât placeâ and how much you wanted to reach up and touch the markings under his preternaturally blue eyes. He was making it very difficult for you to focus as he stared down at you with one brow cocked, silently calling your bullshit. âOkay, l-look, Grimmjow, I just needed a break. I didnât feel like being harassed by my boss tonight.â That part was true at least.
âSo it ainât got nothinâ to do with those cookies?â Grimmjow tossed his head in the direction of the bakery bag sitting on your night table. âC-cookies?â you squeaked, a mental picture conjured by Uraharaâs perverted sense of humor and Grimmjowâs presence in your bedroom floating to the forefront of your mind unbidden. You swallowed, your mouth suddenly dry. Other places⌠not so much.
âYeah. Cookies,â he said shortly, the tiniest bit of color gracing his cheeks as he remembered Kurosakiâs mumbled explanation of Uraharaâs double entendre and why you had seen yourself out so abruptly. âAs in those cookies,â he clarified, pointing this time. âYou know, the ones ya been stealinâ from me for the last month. âWait. Wha-? Stealing?!?â He seemed amused rather than angry, and your indignant response only served to widen his cocky smirk.
âYeah. Stealinâ. So I came to take whatâs mine.â Grimmjow took a step closer to you, standing so near that you could feel the heat radiating from his body. You took a step back, unsure if it was prompted by fear of the Arrancar or the fear that you might do something stupid, like reach out and run a finger over the scar that disappeared beneath his half zipped top. âKurosakiâs woman used to bring somethinâ for both of us⌠âtil a couple of weeks after you showed up.â âOh.â You werenât really sure what to do with that information. âSo... you think that Iâm taking your cookies?â You scrunched up your nose, feeling that this whole situation was bordering on ridiculous. âBut I never really see Inoue-san! She always drops them off withâŚâ You grit your teeth in sudden realization, then looked up at Grimmjow. From the look on his face, heâd come to the same conclusion. âUrahara!â âThat pervy bastard!â you both growled in unison. You both looked at one another for a moment, then you sighed heavily and turned to retrieve that bag of cookies. Your fucking boss had been giving you the cookies just to start drama. âIâd like to say Iâm shocked by this⌠but Iâm not,â you grumbled. You held your arm out toward Grimmjow, bag in hand. âHere. Iâm sorry for the confusion.â âTch! The fuck you sorry for?â Grimmjow was glaring daggers at the door, his ire clearly reserved for your boss, you were relieved to note. He stopped trying to bore a hole through the walls with his eyes long enough to look down and unroll the top of the sack. There was a look of mild surprise on his face as he fished out two cookies and held them out to you. âThereâs four. Here. Take âem,â he ordered, practically shoving the chocolatey treats into your hands. The next thing he fished out of the bag was a small piece of paper, a note. Grimmjow squinted at it, then turned it upside down and squinted some more before thrusting the paper into your face. âRead it. I canât make out that pervy bastardâs handwriting.â In truth, Urahara had very neat, precise handwriting, which meant Grimmjow probably couldnât read all the kanji. You wisely kept your suspicions to yourself and took the note. â _____-san~!â you began to read aloud. âBy this time Iâm sure you have company, so Iâll keep it brief. I normally wouldnât resort to such trickeryââ you snorted at that statement â âbut your presence in the training grounds seems to be quite the distraction for Grimmjow-sanââ Your eyes darted up and caught the murderous look on Grimmjowâs face so you quickly continued. ââand I fear that you will strain your eyes during your increasingly long breaks, so I thought it best to arrange for the two of you to have a private meeting so you can...â Your eyes scanned ahead and you stopped reading aloud abruptly, your face going bright pink. âIâm gonna kill âim,â Grimmjow growled. âNot if I get to him first,â you ground out between clenched teeth as you tossed the cookies and note onto your nightstand. You stalked past Grimmjow and reached for the door but were brought up short by Grimmjowâs hand wrapping around your arm. âWhere the fuck you think youâre goinâ?â
âTo kill my boss,â you said between clenched teeth. âOkay. Maim. I need the paycheck,â you corrected, pulling against his grip.
The âTchâ was all the warning you got before Grimmjow yanked on your arm, pulling you face first into his chest. For a moment, all you could do was blink in startled astonishment and rub your nose. Your mind immediately noted how solid he was, and how warm, much warmer than youâd expected for some sort of⌠ghost or spirit or whatever. Your thoughts took a hard right turn toward the gutter, and you could feel the heat creeping into your cheeks. You fervently hoped that they werenât as pink as you felt like they were because you realized that he was saying something, meaning you had to look him in the face again any second now. â⌠âcause you can see him donât mean you can take him in a fight, so you let me handle your boss.â Grimmjowâs words carried their typical condescension, but you could swear that his tone was a little protective. You shuffled back a step, mouth half open to protest, but it snapped shut again as your head was tipped back by Grimmjowâs finger under your chin, forcing you to look up at him. âPay attention when Iâm talkinâ to you, woman, or I-â Grimmjow arched a brow at you, not bothering to finish his sentence as he studied your face, a wolfish grin breaking out at the sight of your flushed cheeks.
âHeh. Whatâs a matter? Your face is all red,â he taunted, his voice dropping to a rumbling baritone as he leaned down to put his face closer to yours. âN-nothingâs wrong! Except that you have me by the arm,â you huffed, your face giving Grimmjow the lie by turning a deeper shade of red. You half-heartedly tried to jerk your arm out of his grasp, a futile gesture you knew, but your pride demanded that you at least make a show of it. Truthfully, you really werenât all that invested in getting away, not that you were going to let him know that. Heâd just be an insufferable arrogant ass about it any time you came down to watch him face off with Kurosaki. âYouâre a shitty liar, ya know that?â Grimmjowâs grin had expanded into that feral sort of look he got during a spar. You swallowed hard. Part of you knew you should be terrified of that look. However, most of you found it incredibly sexy, and right now all his attention was on you. All your attention was on him, too, and you just couldnât keep your eyes from dropping to his lips. It was at this point that the absence of his bone mask finally registered. It was a sight youâd never seen before, and you were intrigued. Before you could stop yourself, your hand was halfway to his cheek. You paused, wide eyed and moved to pull your hand away, but Grimmjow had you by the wrist with his other hand before you could. âGigai,â Grimmjow said in response to your unspoken question. He walked around you, easily turning you with him. âBut forget about that. Now tell me, what should I do with a little thief like you, hn?â His voice carried a quiet intensity that sent a shiver down your spine. Grimmjow leaned down a little more, his brilliant blue eyes boring into yours. âTh-thief?! What do you mean, âthiefâ?!â You protested, your indignant words coming out in a much higher pitch than you wouldâve liked. You tried to lean away from him, but only succeeded in losing your balance so that Grimmjow was holding you upright by your arm and your opposite wrist. You didnât even realize he had been walking you backward until your calf hit the mattress as you stepped back to try and catch yourself. You didnât think your eyes could go any wider, but they did.
âI mean, I think I deserve a little something to make up for all the cookies you stole over the last few weeks.â His smirk made you want to slap him. Or kiss him. Or both. Definitely both.
âThat wasnât my fault and you know it!â you shot back instead, turning your head to the side and tilting your chin in a dismissive manner. âBesides, Iâve watched you try to steal Ichigoâs cookies for the last three weeks, so isnât that a little hypocritical?â âPfft. I definitely do not want Kurosakiâs âcookie.ââ Despite what you might say about Urahara, you couldnât deny that there was a part of your mind that lived in the gutter. You didnât even try to hide your snicker at Grimmjowâs comment.
âYou sure about that? Not that Kurosaki-san has a cookie for youâŚâ
âOi! Your as bad as that fuckinâ boss of yours, ainât ya,â Grimmjow growled, now completely up in your face. You had nowhere to go unless you wanted to end up flat on your back on the bed. âMight not be so badâŚâ the dirty part of your mind suggested helpfully.
âYa know⌠that might not be such a bad trade, a cookie for some cookies,â Grimmjow said as if reading your thoughts. He was openly leering at you now.
âI- What?!?â you squeaked.
âAinât like I donât see the way you watch me.â Grimmjow smirked down at you.
âO-of course I watch the fights! It-itâs like⌠li-like free pay-per-view!â you stammered, too flustered to come up with anything better. Grimmjow obviously wasnât buying it because his smirk only grew wider.
âWell I sure as fuck donât see you drooling over Kurosaki.â
âOf course I donât! He has a girlfriend!â You belatedly realized that you only denied ogling Kurosaki when Grimmjow leaned down to chuckle right next to your ear. Your traitorous body shuddered visibly at the feel of his breath ghosting over the side of your neck. âHeh. I think youâd like that trade more than youâre willinâ to admit,â he whispered in a velvety sort of tone, one that you had never heard from him before. Hell, you didnât think Grimmjow had it in him to be that⌠smooth. That was probably why your breath hitched when his hand slid over your shoulder and up your spine until he had a firm grip around the nape of your neck. âGr-Grimmjow?â You could feel his nose brush your temple as he inhaled your scent. âHoly fuck. Youâre fucking serious arenât youâŚâ you blurted out in disbelief.
âThe fuck? You think I wasnât?â
You didnât have a chance to answer his question before his mouth was fastened to yours in a demanding kiss that left no doubt about the sincerity of his âofferâ. Your gasp of surprise left Grimmjow the perfect opening to slide his tongue between your parted lips, his fingers tangling in the back of your hair to tug your head back to a more favorable angle. At first, you couldnât do anything but let Grimmjow kiss you, but once the shock wore off, you found yourself giving back as good as you got. By the time he was done kissing you breathless, you had one hand under the collar of his jacket, holding onto his shoulder for balance and the other around his waist, fingers splayed out over his back. You felt Grimmjow twitch, like a cat who was getting a good scratch down its spine, and it dawned on you that your hand was over the spot his hollow hole would be if he werenât in the gigai. With a wicked grin, you flexed your fingers to see if that would get the same result. âDammit, woman!â Grimmjow growled. Oh! That was certainly a nice response! You did it again, but that was one time too many apparently. Before you could blink, you were on your way down to meet your mattress with Grimmjow looming over you, his knee between yours on the edge of the bed.
âYes or no?â Grimmjow demanded, âBetter tell me âcause you keep doing shit like that, Iâm gonna take it as a yes.â âYes orâŚ? Oooh. Right. A cookie for cookies,â you breathed. âHoly shit⌠is this really happening?â you thought. Your mind was reeling. âYep, itâs happening... Say something to him, dammit! Donât blow it!â You gave yourself a mental shove, then with the most innocent face you could muster, you let your fingers trail down his spine again. âYou mean âthat shitâ?â Your cheekiness prompted Grimmjow to pin your wrists over your head in one of his hands. âOkay, Okay! Yes! Deal!â you hastily consented. âGood girl,â Grimmjow practically purred, nipping at your ear. He continued his way down, lips and tongue and teeth teasing the side of your neck until he reached your collarbone. There, he let his teeth scrape along the sensitive skin before sucking on the spot hard enough that you knew it was going to leave a very obvious bruise. âOw! What the fuck, Grimmjow?!â you yelped. He chuckled darkly and tugged on the neckline of your shirt to work his way along more of your collarbone, not bothering to give you any other response. He left a few more love bites along the way, but always soothed them with his tongue before moving along. The gentleness of the gesture caught you off guard the first time, making your breath hitch in an embarrassingly loud fashion. You waited for the inevitable teasing from Grimmjow⌠but it never came, only a low sort of rumble as he reached the limit of how far your tee shirt would stretch. âThis one of your favorite shirts or anything?â Grimmjow asked. The sudden questions made you blink. Why the hell was he concerned about your fashion sense now, of all times? âHuh? I mean, not realâ Wait! No, Grimmjow donââ The small part of your brain that was not yet occupied with Grimmjow finally caught up with the situation, but it was too late. The sound of ripping cloth drowned out your strangled cry of protest as he stuck the hem of your shirt between his teeth then used his free hand to give it a good yank, ripping it all the way up to the collar. With a feral grin, he leaned down and caught the collar of your ruined shirt in his teeth and popped it apart the same way. âWas that really necessary?!â you almost shrieked, more from shock than any real outrage. âYou tell me,â Grimmjow murmured smugly, his lips already against your neck. He worked his way down and across your other collarbone, leaving patches of colorful flesh to match the other side. By the time he reached your shoulder, you were struggling in his grasp, unable to hold still and unable to completely stifle the little whimpers he drew from you with every new mark he left on our skin. âHmm, not bad.â Grimmjow smirked as he leaned back to admire his handiwork. You took a look at yourself and groaned. âGrimmjow!â you whined. âMy pervy boss is never gonna let me live this down!â You got no sympathy from him; he thought it was funny as hell. âNot my problem,â he said dismissively, reaching down to give your nipple a pinch through your bra. You yelped, and Grimmjow grinned wider. You had a feeling that youâd be making that noise a lot and were immediately proven right as your other nipple got equal attention.
âWho taught you to treat a lady like that?!â
Again, Grimmjow only chuckled at your indignant squawking. âGood thing you ainât a lady. And donât gimme that look. You got a mouth on you to put Kurosaki to shame,â he pointed out, running a finger under the edge of your bra. The bra did happen to be a favorite. âDonât you fucking dare Grimmjow! That one is expensive!â you barked, trying to spare any more of your clothing from getting shredded. âThe clasp is right there in the front. Here. Just let go of my hands and Iâll get it,â you offered, wanting the use of your hands, not just to save your bra from becoming a pile of scraps, but also to peel him out of his jacket.
âNice try sweetheart,â Grimmjow practically purred, his grip on your wrists tightening fractionally. Well, at least he popped the closure of your bra open instead of tearing through it. One out of two wasnât bad, you supposed. Worries about your bra or the use of your hands or anything else were shoved straight out of your head as Grimmjow wasted no time in reaching up to palm one of your breasts, giving it a firm squeeze. âOh shit!â The word slipped out before you could check yourself and Grimmjow arched a brow at you, his trademark smirk still plastered on his face. âLike that, do ya?â he asked smuggly. âYa ainât seen nothinâ yet.â With that, Grimmjow let his head drop to your chest, his mouth closing over the tip of your other breast with a single hard suck before he began teasing the hardened peak with his tongue. His hand left off its soft massaging in favor of using his fingers to torment your other nipple, alternating between circling it with the calloused pad of his thumb and rolling it between thumb and forefinger. He mirrored these motions with his mouth, licking and sucking with the occasional scrape of teeth and a corresponding sharp pinch to match. You seriously wished you had an arm free to throw across your face because there was no keeping your mouth closed around the clipped moans and soft gasps you were making. You squirmed under him, pulling against his hold on your wrists again with no better luck this time than the last. âAh! You could at least⌠mmnh!... take off some clothes,â you whined between the naughty little noises you were trying to hold back. Grimmjow lifted his head to look you in the eyes, snickering openly as he leered at you.
âHmn. Somebodyâs soundinâ a little desperate.â His tone had a mocking edge that made you want to slap him. You tugged against his grip on your wrists on reflex and his grin widened.
âBastard,â you huffed under your breath, jaw clenched in frustration. His grin widened when your words were followed by a sharp intake of breath as he gave your pebbled nipple a hard pinch.
Grimmjow leaned in, his lips brushing your ear, his voice dropping half an octave as he practically purred, âAww, whatâs wrong, kitten? Mad that you canât use those claws of yours?â He squeezed your wrists just enough to make his point; he was the one in control. âHmn. Might be more fun to let ya.â
With that, he went after your neck again, but this time he was less interested in marking you up and more interested in working his way back down your body with sloppy, open-mouthed kisses, stopping to lick the curve of your breast before lifting his head again just long enough to shoot you another one of his trademark smug smiles.
Grimmjow knew exactly what he was doing to you as he dropped his head and latched on to your other nipple, sucking hard before swirling his tongue around it. Your back arched off the bed in a manner he found most satisfying, for all that you were trying to act unaffected. The feel of him lapping at your already over sensitized nipple wrung a high-pitched whine out of you that you couldnât quite repress. This turned into a gasp as his hand followed the line of your ribs, warm palm caressing your belly with a gentleness that surprised you as it dropped lower. Then his fingers curled under the waistband of your little pajama shorts and he gave them a sharp yank, pulling them down to your knees without even lifting you up. So much for gentleness.
You watched the expression on Grimmjowâs face change as he stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes glued to the damp spot on your panties. He took a long, slow breath through his nose, and his entire expression shifted to something less smug and more⌠hungry.
âFuck,â he muttered under his breath. You followed his line of sight and felt yourself turning a nice shade of tomato red, but that didnât keep a smug grin of your own from creeping onto your face. Before he could get his hand back to its intended destination, you took advantage of his moment of distraction to plant both of your feet squarely in the middle of his chest. âThe hell, woman!â he growled, clearly not happy about being blocked from his next meal. âDitch some clothes,â you insisted defiantly, despite Grimmjow still pinning your wrists firmly to the mattress. You toed the zipper on the front of his outfit. âOh, come on!â You cringed inwardly at the whine in your words, but went on anyway. âIf Iâm giving up my⌠uh, cookie, the least you could do is give me something nice to look at!â âTch! You sayinâ Iâm not nice to look at like this?â he goaded, making a grab for your ankles with his free hand. You were just quick enough that he could only grab one of your feet. If he wanted the other one, he would have to let go of your wrists. You ignored his attempt to ruffle your feathers and gave him a lazy smile as you ran a foot over his abs lightly, right where his hollow hole was when he was out of his gigai, never mind that teasing him like that is what had gotten your arms pinned over your head in the first place. âDammit, woman!â Grimmjow growled, trying to evade your touch, but he couldnât exactly get out of your reach without letting go of you, and he wasnât ready to admit defeat. You werenât sure if you were brave or just stupid to taunt an arrancar this way, but in the moment it hardly mattered. You ran your foot over his abs again, this time bringing it all the way back to the center of his chest where you once again poked at the zipper with your toe. âPlease?â You pasted on a doe-eyed expression. âI promise Iâll be good,â you added in a sugary whisper, leaving it open to interpretation whether you were referring to behaving well⌠or performing well. Grimmjow snorted. âI bet you will.â
PART TWO!
