When she called me into her office, I hurried in, not wanting to keep her waiting. She looked at me point blank then, for what seemed like forever. Then finally. I saw her eyes dart down and to her right. I followed her glance towards to shoes on the floor, and gave her a confused look, to which said simply. “I’ll have you clean them for me, as well as my boots.”

“Uhh… now?” I asked, my voice cracking.

I stared at her boots, struggling to believe this was really happening. She can’t really expect me to do this, I thought. This is beyond demeaning, beyond workplace harassment- this was a total abuse of power, even a felony! Then she snapped impatiently, “let’s go, stupid, do as you’re told, or pack your things and never come back- I haven’t got all day…”. By now I was really trembling, overwhelmed by the whole thing, and not wanting to be fired, I felt like I had no choice, so I leaned forward and down, and I began licking her boots, and she returned to whatever it was she was writing, as though I wasn’t even there.
