We spent the first few months of our DD journey exploring what this relationship could look like for us. We spent that time establishing the rules, setting the tone, and understanding what each of us wanted and needed from our agreement. Even before we established our rules and formally wrote them done, we identified that our arrangement would only work is there was enthusiastic consent. Does that mean he agrees every time I decide there will be discipline? No, not at all. It does mean that he will willingly and promptly respond when it is time. And the appropriate response is alway “yes ma’am.” We ordered this keychain that I carry daily - and he sees frequently - as a constant reminder. It’s gotten me a few knowing looks - like from the mechanic and a couple of friends - but I like having something with me that can help serve as a reminder. “Sweetheart, have you seen my keys” is a discreet, subtle reminder in public if he’s acting up and needs a warning.
